    Funnily enough, I was just playing Wrath of the Righteous like an hour ago. The video game not the AP, but still.
    The Worldwound/Sarkoris Scar is one of my favorite regions in Pathfinder. I actually like the Scar because of the nice spin Paizo did on the "tear in reality closes" concept. Where the demons are still in Sarkoris, they weren't sucked back into the Abyss when the Worldwound closed. That's one of my favorite bits about it, because it doesn't delegitamize anything anyone might've done playing through the WotR AP, but it also ensures that there's still stuff to do in that region, and I really have to give Paizo props for that.

    • @TheMythkeeper
      @TheMythkeeper  Год назад +14

      Absolutely. I really hope we get a complicated world-building adventure in the style of Kingmaker but set in the Worldwound in PF2E some day. This is a nation that now has a ton of rebuilding to do. Former crusaders and Sarkorian reclaimers will be constructing a whole new culture and civilization for themselves, and the foes in the region are truly terrific.

    Maybe I'm just biased cause of Wrath of the Righteous as game, but I think the Worldwound is my favorite setting for a pathfinder AP. It's a tangible threat and it's influence is so interesting to me. I'm glad you made this video and provided lore to it I didn't know about! I've rewatched this several times now.

      Awesome. That's the way it should be. I've been playing through most of the PF APs now for years and its always set in our own 'instance' I guess of Golarion. At this point the canon of our world is pretty substantially diverged from Pathfinder canon. We have different leaders in different nations based on choices previous player characters have made and so on.

      Hmmm...which one of your players is now ruling Cheliax, and which one Nex and Geb, or is it both? Is it now the River Kingdom (singular)?
      Ohhh, oh...who was brave enough to touch the Starstone?
      *edit- btw I didn't mean that with any meanness, I know my account name can leave the wrong impression (named myself ironically).

      @@pariswashington5543 - Thrune still rules Cheliax but one of our players is the King of Ravounel. One is the high general of Taldor. One is the new king of the Glimmerhold. And many of the major castles of Lastwall survived the purge of the Whispering Tyrant during Tyrant's Grasp by being shifted into a demi-plane, which is now the new Demiplane of Lastwall. Oh and another player is the Hurricane Queen of the Shackles. Just to name a few deviations...

    I was looking forward to this deep dive! In the Pathfinder campaign I made for my friends, they had to close the Worldwound ahead of a massive invasion by Orcus. To do this, they had to resurrect the god Aroden by collecting the fragments of his soul, similar to Isis reassembling the pieces of Osiris in Egyptian myth. Since Aroden's death created the Wound, only his rebirth could repair it. All future campaigns I run deal with the aftermath of this victory.

    WotR will always have a special place in my heart as the CRPG that finally made me dive into the wonderful world of Pathfinder. That added some extra meaning to this video, and I enjoyed learning the lore that leads up to and then follows the events of that game. Excellent work as always! I don't want to post spoilers for the game because it's one of the best of it's genre, but after watching this video I'm feeling inclined to start another playthrough where I'm less forgiving towards the end. I'm almost always predisposed towards diplomacy, but the lore I didn't know until today makes me wonder if some entities aren't best removed from interaction with the multiverse...
    Time to fire up my unfinished Angel Crusader playthrough and go full cleansing flame!

    The Worldwound is such a fantastic idea, in concept and implementation. As many others here have said, the Pathfinder computer games were my introduction to the Pathfinder universe. I started with kingmaker, and I am currently playing through Wrath of the righteous. Rather the righteous is easily my favorite game of all time, let alone my favorite crpg. I am a DND player, so all of this is either new to me or somewhat similar to Faerun, nevetheless I do know pathfinder mainly from Wrath of the RIghteous (the PC game) and this explains so much about why the people behaved the way they did in the game. I did not realize that Sarkorians were much more savage than their neighbours I thought they were just another imerialistic nation like their neighbours, that they just prayed to more gods and somewhat distrusted arcane magic, I did not realize that their whole nation was much druidic and akin to Barbarian culture. The way you describe it reminds mere more of the Icewind Dale barbarian clans...

    wrath of the righteous was bittersweet for me. work schedules broke the game after a few sessions but the party focused on a close knit starting group, and (kinda picking up what the dm was laying down when we were asked to describe our family in kenebres) so i told my fellow pcs that my normally dry and formal elf wizard had been acting peculiar the last few weeks and that on the way to the festival he was visibly nervous. The other pcs affectionately prodded at him till he shyly brought out the ring he had purchased, and admitted he was going to ask the young cleric hed been visiting in the city (that the other pcs unanimously decided they knew about for months) for her hand in mawwage. The dm was ....rutheless. As the demons fell upon them, my elf's beloved pushed him behind her to protect him, then the world cracked open and he fell.

    • @CheerfuEntropy

      He went mad in the tunnels . in pf1 you can spec an elf diviner to be pretty scary with a bow at early game, so the party looked on in increasing discomfort as I aggressively sniped my way through the first encounters, savagely trying to make it back to the surface "to save her in time." Because, of course...they knew.
      It was epic but right as we were about to get to the surface, people got jobs far away. womp womp. regret. alas.
