BTW another thing you forgot about the blood ravens is that they are one of the few chapters than know who and what the Gray Knights are. Since in Dark Crusade you can use Gray Knight squads with Chaplains

Omegon actually wanted to be kidnapped so that he could execute his next master plan to help Chaos infiltrate the Imperium to expose a weakness in Imperial defenses so the Imperium could defend itself better against the next Chaos invasion he was planning to unleash in order to send more Chaos forces to their deaths.
A magpye squad tried to steal Trazyn himself once in 39 724… the squad was stolen and collected by Trazyn instead.
They’ve been trying to get back at him ever since.

I saw a picture with this where he had all his gear on (Tryzen) and then in the next panel the blood raven had all his gear on him only for Tryzen to instantly put him in a stasis field with the Blood raven giving a thumbs up with "worth it" on the side somewhere.

The bloody magpies hold a special place in my heart since DoW was my first foray into 40k.
I always saw their success on Kronus (Dark Crusade is best DoW.) as being tied to the fact that it was a seven way planetary clusterfuck that they eventually crawled out on top of.
7 way conflicts leads to a lot of history to recover.

The Blood Ravens is one of those brutal chapters. It's like mixing Dark Angels, Krieg, and the Thousand Sons. From recruiting to fighting. They are zealous knowledge seekers, and they have a lot of artifacts cause they are guarding mechanicus, and navy explorational vessels. At nearby ruins, spacehulks, place of interest, they are always there recording, guarding, extreminating and collecting artifacts, that they religiously guard. They have the aptitude to make a lot of psychers, who are just as bloodthirsty, and an excellent relationship with the mechanicus, whom to they send a lot of techmarines. As in those artifacts have to be researched and repaired. They were also probably more than a 1000 originally. Waaay more. Their campaings were too big for a normal chapter. The Inquisition really doesn't like them, just too much suspicion and shittery, but beside them, most factions like them. They are fanatics. They are zelous. A Blood Raven as an ally is hope for victory, but nightmare as an enemy.

I've NEVER heard about them being Word Bearer descendants.
The reason why people predominately think they might be Thousand Sons loyalist is 1: They have a fuckton more psykers than usual for Space Marines, 2: Similar Colour scheme of pre-heresy Thousand Sons, 3: Obsession with Knowledge and 4: There was a particular cult of the Thousand Sons called the Corvidae which made use of a Black Raven to symbolise their members pre-heresy.

Blood Ravens are a great chapter, lots of fun and interesting. Though killing the Guardsmen that helped them was dumb. Overall my favorite chapter.

For having the statues as a protagonist chapter I tend to find them more interesting than the Ultramarines. Despite overcoming some insane odds they still come across as flawed, unlike the ultramairnes and their never ending perfect streak.

What's funny is that the orks won't appreciate it's power and significance at all and as such it will function like a normal spear for them lol.
I love how the magpie fits the blood raven. As the 'mag' stands for magnus the red and the magpie sa the bird.
Actually the reason why the blood Ravens were able to get away with the events of dark crusade was because 1they did technically liberate the planet from all enemies of the imperium and 2 technically the only people that outrank space Marines are the high Lords of Terra or people acting with their direct authority so you could argue that the imperial guard should have listen to them.

For as much as I came to love the Custodes, the Sisters of Battle and above all, the Navis Imperialis.... the Blood Ravens will always be pretty awesome no matter what future lore may have for them. It was DoW that really got me into 40k in the first place. 40k had been something neat for years before that, but wasn't something I really paid attention to prior to Dawn of War.
random thought: To go along with the idea that they are indeed a loyalist chapter from a traitorous legion, I personally think that their name is a 2 fold distraction, by invoking thoughts of precisely who is named in this video, the Blood Angels and the Raven Guard. Just imagine how many people would be drawn into looking down those two routes simply from their name.

Truly, the Blood Ravens are the most English of space marine chapters.
Also their collection of tainted artifacts is actually more impressive than that of the Relictors. They have a copy of the original Book of Lorgar manuscript, an athame, a stock of bolter shells with bloodthirsters bound into them and weirdest of all a suit of Alpha Legion Terminator armour.
Fun facts:
If i recognized the "raven" in the thumbnail correctly i can tell you that its not a raven, nor a crow nor anything else like that, its a completley unrelated bird that has just addabted in the same way in pretty much every way

Wasn't Nathaniel Garro technically the first grey knight being installed into the order after having stripped himself of his previous legion (Death Guard)?
Aren't all Grey Knights psykers ? and there are no death guard psykers ... or there were none because papa re-breather hated magics ?
@@MrFallenone Well sure that's one way to look at it but historically Garro was given order by the Big E and Malcador to seek out remaining loyalist Astartes from friendly and traitor legions. The first of these was a powerful Psychers from the Ultramarines, and the second a World Eater. They wore silver armour and had an I shaped insignia with 3 horizontal lines through the center and were branded for Inquisitive purposes, these, which were originally named the Knights-Errant would go onto forging the GreyKnights we see today.
He also has a badass scene In the first book he appears (flight of Einstein) where he fist fights the Nugle Daemon, Lord of Flies, on the moon...
