Note Jamie and Brienne defending Winterfell with the two halves of Ned Stark’s sword.
I got a little teary eyed reading your comment 😢 Great observation!!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Never noticed that. Great detail, thanks for pointing it out.
Hell yeah!
Nice one! ☝️
And back to back. I love it!! Gets me every time.
The night is dark and full of contrast.
lol wtf!!!! im dead
killed me
they weren’t lying when they said they were gonna speed through the rest of the show to catch up to house of the dragon
They were not catching up to shit, they got a contract to make a movie so they wanted to finish it asap! It was the worst ending to a show in history!
Catch up to House of the Dragon??? HAHAHAHHAHAHA what are you talking about lol? House of the Dragon came out 3 years later. And at the time wasn’t even greenlit, and those 2 stooges were not making house of the dragon anyways lol.
@@NikoStark1 u know they are talking about THE FKIN REACTORS DUMMIE?
@@NikoStark1 ?? OP Was talking about the reactors, not the directors.
@@NikoStark1 They're talking about the Octobers' reactions, dude lmao
@@NikoStark1 oh that’s another level of embarrassing
House Mormonts Motto: “here we stand”
Major props to Alfie Allen. He took us on an amazing journey as Theon. He's no doubt one of the most talented actors in the industry.
Definitely agree; he stood out to me amidst all great actors in this show. Of course it helped that his story is one of the most dramatic.
Dude got redeemed but then went and scewed around with John Wick.
He said John thought he yelled at it to death 💀💀💀 lmao
Has a Valyrian steel sword which could destroy it, opts to yell at it instead.
he was yelling go
@CollideFan1 uhm he was hyping himself up for a desperate last stand... he knew was done. It is a freaking dragon. It is similar to Jaime in season 7 during the attack after High Garden was sacked.
Jorah fighting to the death to protect his queen always makes me cry 😭😭😭
Same here, he choses the death when he's sure Daenerys is OK
I'm sure he thought at one time, "If I have to die, let it be defending her."
Every single time! And then it cuts to Theon running at the Night King 😮💨
Theon looked Death in the face, didn't flinch and ran at him with open arms 🫡
He died a good man.
@edmunddantes7097 he did. Honestly Theon grew on me a lot. Definitely had legendary redemption story
He's my favorite character.
“Do you think John thinks he did that by yelling at it” 😂
People tried to get me to watch this show for years and I swore it just wasn’t my kind of show. I finished it in 2 weeks lol. Truly nothing like it!
Same! I never watched it cause I just assumed it would be corny but here we stand lol
Wow that’s crazy fast. I did watch season 1 in two days originally so I guess it’s possible. But when I rewatched everything right before season 8, I paced it out at 1 episode per day for a couple months and that was still hard to keep up the pace. I suppose with as hooked as I was originally, I could see it happening like that.
@@drivers99 I watched it when I’d get ready for work, at work, when I got home 😂 and that was a lot for me because at that time I only had a few shows I watched. Other than that my tv stayed off lol. So I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this and The Walking Dead.
@@TheOctobersReact I would have never thought I’d like it enough to one day watch reaction videos. Yet here I am 😂

Has to be the first person/reactor I've seen actually call the dead being raised from the crypt.....Bravo Ms October Bravo
Theon and Lady Mormont's deaths always make me cry the most. The moment the music drops in when Tyrion kisses Sansa's hand 😭😭😭 I remember nonstop sobbing at the hopelessness from that point until the end
People always ask "why does Bran sit there and leave to use the ravens to see during the battle"?
They seem to forget that when he first learned how to use the 3rd eye at some point the Knight King became aware of his presence shocking Bran and that was when the Knight King decided to find Bran and "unlive" him, Bran even said he was coming there to "unlive" him.
Everytime Bran uses the 3rd eye the Knight King is drawn to him, Bran the flame and the Knight King the moth.
So when he used the 3rd eye during the battle he was trying to draw the Knight King to the area where in his visions he saw Arya destroy the Knight King and when after he told Theon he was a good man he said "Thank You" because he knew that Theon had delayed the Knight King and his Generals long enough for Arya to arrive.
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain it so perfectly I was genuinely wondering about that. Thank you so much again.
You can say kill. It is not offensive. Also not sure what the Knight King is. A knight is what Brienne is. Night King.
I don't think any of this was ever confirmed, warging a dragon would have been way cooler, or literally showing the audience what he was doing at least a few times. Missed opportunities.
Not really, he said Night King knows because of the mark on him...he can know anytime where Bran is because of the mark, he himself said that. And I don't think this explanation has been given by the showrunners, it seems like one of those theories we try to come up with to explain the obvious loopholes in a show we love 😂
Not a spoiler as not in the show. In the books, all the Stark children are wargs. Jon and Arya had the same wolf dreams as Bran did. Arya even warged into a cat when she was blind which is how she was able to fight blind in the House of Black and White. She was also able to warg into Nymeria while she was in Braavos. Also, Robb did the same with Grey Wind when he was fighting the Lannisters in the Riverlands.
AND
A really fun fact: It was Arya, through Nymeria, who pulled Catelyn's body from the river after the Red Wedding.
Jon had to leave Sam, he knew he HAD to get to the Night King. It’s not that he didn’t care to help, he knew the best way to help Sam was to end the White Walker threat by moving forward
Melisandre is a perfect example of how this show makes the viewers hate and love characters at the same time.
Fans have hated her for the sacrifices and other terrible things she’s done in the name of her Lord but in the end you can’t help but appreciate her dedication to her god and stopping the White Walkers.
She was always my favorite even when she burned the kid. She was a bigger picture character from the start.
@@Coven_of_Hagsoh, me too! I love magical characters in general so she was always a favorite of mine.
It’s just cool to see so many reactors go from hating this “evil witch” to appreciating and at least respecting her cause in the end.
She's one of those side-characters that does...so much more than anyone gives her credit for, but thats only because the show's got SO many great characters, some sadly get overshadowed
@@Pop-wl8ygit was beautiful that she was free at the end as it was always my belief those necklaces where just the slave collars of those serving the lord of light.
I never hated her, even when she burned the girl. I hated Stannis for that.
“You’ll fly” referred to him being a raven. He flew as a raven
Yes!
I'm not 100 hundred percent sure but I think the way it works is he can only warg creatures of lower intelligence thsts why he could take over Hodor and only for a short time
@Drey.Alexander there is a book reader theory that Hodor was able to skin change. (It's only called warging with wolves). If my memory is correct, Hodor had an affection for Lyanna Stark, who loved horses. Hodor would skinchange into her horse so he could be near her. They say when you skinchange, part of the animal stays with you. So the theory is that because of the remnants of the horse attached to Hodor, that made it easier for Bran to warg into him.
Jon still saved humanity, he was theone who united everybody against Death
Melisandre was my favorite character. They wouldn’t have won without her! I’m so glad you guys have the respect for her she deserves. She was finally free. Slaves wear collars and that was what that necklace was for her.
Still burned a little girl alive
@@VColossalVwho didn’t kill a kid on this show?
Maester Luwin to Theon season 1: " Is there going to be an attack in the Godswood?
Season 8 : Theon charging the Night King in the Godswood
Whatever you feel about season 8 over half the budget was spent right here....appreciate it. 😂
I think everything Bran did was to give Arya time to get to him. Remember Bran gave her the dagger he probably saw what was going to happen just wasn't sure of his vision. Also look for the dagger in House of the Dragons
The fact that they gave us so much fan service in the previous episode and they couldn’t give us Jon fighting the Night King or Bran warging into a dragon or a giant is kind of a huge missed opportunity.
The previous episode is my favorite of season 8. They even gave book readers a nod with Pod singing the Jenny of Old Stones song. Everything after episode 2 pissed me off. 😂
Took almost two months of night filming to do this. And many of the cast had the flu for part of it. Emily threw up off of the dragon seat at least once. The amount of effort that went into this makes it so much more epic!!
Also, another reactor, when seeing Drogon fly away shaking the wights off, said 'go, Drogon, Taylor Swift that shit!' and I can't watch it without laughing now.
You guys dont understand the prophecies in this series becayse the show handled them so poorly that they should never have even added them in. HBO made some amazing lore videos that are narrated by the cast of the show. They are on RUclips and are worth the watch. They get into the lore and mystical side that the show skipped.
Was not expecting this tonight! U just made my Saturday lol x

The hands down best thing in this ENTIRE show is The Hound and Arya. The Dog and his Wolf Pup. No other pairing in any scene is better. Not even Arya and Tywin.
Jon Snow should’ve been the one to kill the night king. They were building up that rivalry just for Arya to jump out of nowhere to kill him lmao.
And from this episode, I ain’t gonna lie, I sobbed when Theon died. His character arc in the series was one of the best
The show does a very good job of explaining that Valyrian Steel swords and dragon glass are great weapons against the White Walkers, but they don't go into much detail about the armor.
The best armor to have in this episode is plot armor and boy was it effective.
"Who is your favorite character? Everybody" hahhaa
No one
'creme brulee' LOL 😂
This episode had so many MVP's.
I remember waiting anxiously for 2 years for this season and the whole time while watching this episode, all I could think was " Please don't kill Arya, please don't kill Arya..." 😂
Often times in the wild, ravens and crows will befriend wolf pups through adult age. Once they become adults, the wolves will protect the raven or crow from many enemies. This is a brilliant incorporation to the story by George R.R. Martin.
Arya was my favorite character. I couldn't have handle it if she died at any point. I know a lot of folks don't like that she killed the Night King.
But I loved that part. I'm biased.

Theon’s last stand made him one of my favorite characters after Jon
When the Unsullied yell "protect the retreat" it always hits my heart. Loyal and brave, true warriors to the end.
What was so crazy? The Sunday night that this episode originally aired was the very same weekend that "Avengers: Endgame" came out in theatres. It was a STARK "Winning Weekend" Tony Stark and Arya Stark saved humanity at the same time. It was an epic weekend!
This!! I remember it so clearly!
@@LoveKSJW I went with my husband and kids on the Saturday and then followed up with this on Sunday, talk about amazing family memories. 😂😂😂
That Dothraki charge remains hilariously stupid even to this day. ^^
I can see it both ways. That was the Dothraki bread and butter. They are at their best when on horseback and charging. The Unsullied were better suited for tower defence. And on top of that, the Dothraki had flaming swords. The move wasn't stupid, so much as it was they just underestimated the army of the dead.
I'm not an apologist - there are many bonehead things in Season 7 and 8, but I really don't think this episode is one of them.
Putting all the women and children in the crypt was dumber.
@@havok6280 where would you have put them?
The entire point of cavalry is to attack the enemy's flanks after the battle has commenced, and to charge enemy units attempting an orderly retreat. So yes, monumentally stupid to waste them that way.
A frontal charge has only one benefit: breaking the morale of defenders. Which does not apply to the dead.
@@havok6280An oversight to be sure, but a very possible one that would be made if this were real life. Real history is filled with dumb decisions that had very negative outcomes.
A few things:
- Theon's arc is absolutely fantastic and it's amazing to go back and rewatch, knowing what happened in the end.
- I recommend - after you finish the series - watching a video by "In Deep Geek" called "What was Bran doing all that time?" to answer your questions about Bran's warging during the battle for Winterfell.
- Melisandre: there's a beautiful passage in the books, where she explains that she prays the Lord of Light for a glimpse of "The Prince that was Promised" (the one who would bring the dawn, remember?), and all she sees is snow. (or Snow? ;) )
- Prophecy: remember what Melisandre said. "Prophecies are a dangerous thing." They are very vague and open to interpretation, and everyone tweaks them to fit the person they want them to fit. In the end, we can argue that Jon was absolutely essential in creating the perfect circumstances to defeat the Night King, even though he wasn't the one to actually do it in the end. Anyway, we can talk about it more after you're done.
OMG I'm so happy you're releasing this so fast. I've just finished watching your reactions to ep 1&2.
Arya was the only one could get the Night King. She was underestimated by everyone. The Night King focused exclusively on Jon and Dani, seeing them as a threat, never saw Arya as a threat. Once you are done with this show, I have another for you --the T.V series, Buffy the Vampire series. I put it up there with Game of Thrones
That makes sense. The Night King never met Arya, didn't know she was a threat.
Or Supernatural!! I absolutely LOVE that show!!
John yelled it to death 😂... awesome
Vladimír Furdík born in old Czechoslovakia was great as Night King.
Really appreciate the upload speed 🎉
Literally anyone: I love you, Bran.
Bran: Thank you.

The Army of the Dead doesn't await the storm. It BRINGS the storm
I would say the run is almost over but we have HOTD coming right up so it’s all good 😎
i think the Red Woman redeemed herself from killing Shareen bringing Jon back to life the things she did here also she motivated Arya to go take out the Knight King
The score is
So good 22:43 , and the pure deviation in Dani why Jorah dies , u can see how muck she loved him
So have to point out theon is most definitely a main character especially in th books as he one the few people that has chapters written from his point if view
Arya is a beast.

Fun little piece of writing, the scene of Jaime and Breanne fighting together in the castle is amazing because they are each using "half" of Ned's sword to defend his home
When this episode of television premiered there were huge comparisons to Avengers Infinity war with the scope of the battle, it became an event and one of the most viewed episodes of television in history, say what you want about the season this episode is a true demonstration of what is possible and a big catalyst for television and streaming shows production value to get way bigger budgets, an incredible moment in time, Arya is that it girls.
Yea this episode rules, regardless of my feelings on the rest of the season... but I stand strong on the side that it was just too damn dark (at least when it aired).
Well.... except for the "dark episode"
Peter Jackson is PROOF, that you can film at "Night", and STILL make sure, that the "audience can SEE THE ACTION".
I cannot see "anything" in this episode, and that "vexes me".
... ALOT!
Ps...Bran lost internet connection... 😂
That's why he was basically useless.
😅
Agreed such an amazing episode
Ps...did you "catch" the fact that ONLY Targaryans are fireproof...and ONLY Targaryans are the ones that can are ride/control Dragons.
So... were The Knight King a Targaryan!??
Watching your reaction vid made me realize how important Melisandre is.
-Brought back Jon from the dead.
-Brought the Ice(Jon) and Fire(Danny) together to fight the Great War.
-Helped the armies to have their weapons on fire.
-Lighting the trenches.
-Made Arya realized that she’s the night king slayer.
With some mental gymnastics you can make some sense of this in the storytelling aspects, but better not think about realistic battle tactics. Never send your cavalry into frontal attack against unknown masses of troops! Better keep them back to attack from the sides. Build more trenches. Keep your artillery safe behind the walls. Keep yor infantry to defend the walls instead of sending them out. Be aware that there aref dead in the crypts tha enemy could resurrect. Build scorpions against dragons. Warg the enemy dragon. And much more. .
Not sure if you guys noticed, but Theon and Sansa both chose to spend their last night in each other's company. Just talking and vibing. I loved that ❤
At the end of the season 8 reaction, I would love to see a reaction by you both to other youtubers on s8. Because there are a lot of them that sum up why there is so many differing opinions on S8 and S7.

Theon a character I didn’t really care for, then hated, then felt bad for and ended up rooting for and shedding a tear at his death. Alfie Allen was epic
So hyped to watch you guys react to this. Really really enjoy all your GoT commentary :-).
I love watching people witness this for the 1st time. Idc what the haters say this episode was fireeeeee!!!! The story could have been fleshed out for 5 more season but then end results would always be the same. D&D were told the ending and this is what GRRM himself wanted. Again yes the show should have been longer and more storylines injected but again this was always the end result and I’m happy with it. Except for one person who got shafted in a big way in which I’ll comment on next episode
I love the fact that Arya kills the Night King on the spot where Bran gave Arya the Valyrian steel dagger. I believe he had seen what was going to happen and so gave her the dagger. That is also why Bran appeared to do nothing. His sole function was to be the bait.
R.I.P to the fallen that fought for the living🫡
"Kinda scary to be in the crypts though... cant you raise them up??" ... THANK YOU for catching this. Most people (including the characters obviously) never caught this failure of logic 😂
Yall two are amazing its been a blast to follow along with ya
Actually I think most ppl got it and this was one of the reasons (along with Arya killing the Night's king)why the audience started to roll their eyes about this last season.
@@Solo_Traveling those of us watching at the time, yeah we understood the stupidity of it. But a lot of reactors don't catch it right away is what I meant lol
I don't agree. The people in the crypt weren't killed by the Night King, the Wights, or the walkers, so why should they be raised up? I think that's a problem with the script, one of many problems.
Think about it. Beyond the Wall, was every single person and animal that ever died, regardless how they died, raised up? If so, wouldn't every single dead person and animal in Westeros be raised up once the Night King crossed through the Wall and raised his arms? There should have been walkers (and remains of walkers once the Night King was killed) everywhere! Westeros, especially King's Landing, should have been decimated! But we don't hear any mention of it in subsequent episodes....
i love john and theon, i cried with theon, that's one death i can't get over along with jorah. this is one of the best episodes in all the seaons, this is the best battle, and then the battle of the bastards. i know the episode is dark, but that's also what makes it even more scarier and have anxiety.
Both pieces of Ice are reunited to defend Winterfell ❤❤❤
“My man’s a coke head” 😂😂😂😂
In case it hasn't been said, Bran is easier to be located while he's warging. He was sending out a signal saying "come get me"
That last shot of Melisandre gets me EVERY time😢😢😢
"He yelled it to death?!" 🤣
"He yelled it to death" 😂
Your not alone, I think everyone expected Brann to worg into a dragon and everybody had the same tinge of disappointment lol
10:55 her eyes look so cool
the dragon skull is balerion, but its way smaller than its supposed to be
29:23 they DID make dragonglass tipped arrows. They showed the molds in season 2 right before Gendry gave The Hound his ax. Arya shot a weight with one to save The Hound as well. 40:45 Ravens fly so he DOES fly when he Wars into birds. 41:39 John threw a lantern at the walker in season 1 to save Mormont. Ghost just warned them. The walker closed the door behind John, shutting Ghost out.
Also remember that it was Bran who made sure Arya got that dagger.
They say Jon was not supposed to be the one to kill the Night King, who basically wimped out of a fight with Jon by raising the dead to shield him from Jon. He was the only one who could unite the realm to fight The Army of The Dead and The Night King.
R.I.P. Lady Mormont!!!! Toughest little Lady of Westeros
“Where did Bran go?”
Fans still don’t know till this day 😂
I will never get over Dany swinging Jorah round and using him as a human shield erghh
It was an epic fight, and the music OMG. I was tense the entire episode. I think the writers dropped the ball on a few things. One of them was Bran. I don't think they knew what to do with him. He could've warged into wolves or anything to help in the fight, but they have him warg into birds to just watch??
Also, you guys said earlier in the series “how cool would it be if the Sword Ice made it back to winterfell” in a way it did. Jamie and Brianne have the two swords that make up ICE
All this time waiting for 8 seasons and the Long Night ends in one episode. 🤣🤣
Like 90% of the show is about the struggle for the throne but you waited 8 seasons for that 10%? It would have made NO sense for the fight to continue longer.
@@edmunddantes7097 Nonsense we were made to believe the real war was in the north and they treated it like garbage.
@@dsfddsgh How were you made to believe that? The show is LITERALLY called Game of THRONES.
It WAS the real war in the SHOW'S world because if they had lost that would have been the end of humanity. Even that war became a tool in the GOT. Cerci used it to weaken her enemies while not losing a single soldier. And now that the threat is over, how many that didn't participate or know about the NK threat will actually believe the battle even happened.
I lowkey wanted the Night King to survive so he could invade King's Landing. 😂
Perfect reaction! I love this episode because it's got so many WOW moments just made for reactions. Well done!
It's funny you mentioned endgame. That weekend endgame released also and it set a record for most fictional characters deaths and largest battles in a single weekend in cinematic history
Been looking forward to this reaction video for a long time. Greatest episode of any show ever. (8x5) The Bells is a close 2nd.
One legit complaint about the series as a whole for me is the weak use of Bran's powers. Warg into a dragon, go more and twist things in the past, etc.
Bran not warging a dragon was the biggest missed opportunity of the show, would have given so much more meaning to the words said by the previous Three Eyed Raven. "But you will fly" ended up not having any meaning.
Also would have been epic, and given him something to actually do to make a difference in the most important battle.
And instead of all that - "Thank you".
😂
This episode is really the first episode where I could understand and agree with the heavy criticism. There were grumblings previously (mostly about teleportation) but this episode had quite a few blunders. Right off, the darkness. If your tv is not set properly, you will not see much of anything. Most people's tvs are not adjusted properly so a lot of people missed a lot. Next, you said you were going to go back and check out the logistics of the battle... it doesnt get better. There is no way a castle full of warriors of the caliber we are told these people are, would ever have such terrible battle planning. Yes, the Dothraki hoard fading away was dramatic, but completely unreasonable in a battle. Dothraki should have been hidden well away and hit from the rear or flanks so they could peel off after unloading arrows on the undead. Everyone else should have been inside the fortress.. The trebuchets should have been in the fortress. There are plenty of examples to go through, but I am sure everyone gets the point. It was poorly written with not much research into a proper battle in that situation. The other big complaint that has a lot of merit was Arya killing the Night King... which I loved and felt it fit with what we know of her, but... (especially in the books) the confrontation between Jon Snow and the Night King has been built since the first season essentially. In the books there is an emphasis on "The song of ICE AND FIRE" and the Prince who was Promised. Clearly, that is meant to be Jon... Stark (ice) and Targaryen (fire). So while I love the Arya scene, it was really just a great scene and didnt follow all the foreshadowing built.
Was waiting for this!! Finally home from work lol
I've always heard that this episode was so disappointing, but I don't feel that way at all. I'm glad to finally be watching the whole series with you and forming my own feeling about it. Is the unceremonious end of the army of it dead jarring and rushed? Yes. Was the episode lame? Not at all.
I have watched it Lets say a few times (8) and its because its pretty dark you miss big chunks of the battle but I am glad Arya killed the night king if not there would have been no point in her training to fight
The battle HAD to be rushed imo. Every person that dies joins the enemy army. They were already outnumbered. Under those circumstances that is not a battle that can go on for very long at all.
I think the hate came from people who didn't get the outcome they wanted as opposed to just enjoying the story. The only people who didn't like it that I've showed it to were the ones who knew ahead of time they weren't supposed to.
@@edmunddantes7097 nah it's because they made the episode comically dark for "atmosphere" which made it incredibly hard to watch on TV when 1st aired and also because the Night Kings death was one of the most anticlimactic deaths of a big baddie I've ever seen. People forget that many of us watched the show as it aired. Waited literal years for this confrontation because it was laid out from the opening scene of S1 Ep1. All just for him to get shattered the second he makes a personal move. And that's it. There's no after effect. Just dead, gone and move on. It is objectively bad writing. Then they further prove it with the episodes to come. They relied heavily on the books for inspiration and once the material ran out, they pushed for an ending to a show they didn't know how to end.
@@Lightbrite93 It wasn't set up from season one. All that was set up was that there is an army of the dead. No final showdown. The only setup was in season 3 when the Red Witch tells Arya that she'll shut different colored eyes. Blue being the emphasized color. She repeats that in THIS episode. Arya was trained to fight/see in the dark, she was given a Velerian dagger by Bran, she used the same technique she used against Brienne, she was quiet when she snuck up on Jon. After Beric died for the last time the Witch tells Arya that the Lord brought him back so many times just to protect her in that moment.
All the signs pointed toward Arya.
@@edmunddantes7097 there being an army of the dead insinuates a large fight... And yes it was fairly obvious it would be Arya to fight him because of what Mellisandra said. No issue there. I never said i was dissatisfied it was Arya so not sure what you are trying to prove by driving that in. The issue is that she jumped and did the little dagger drop thing she did with Brienne and that was all. You cant tell me that wasnt the most unsatisfying fight in the show.
This episode was epic as f*ck! I sort of wish we had them battling the army of the dead over the course of like 2-3 episodes but at least it was pretty great in comparison to the rest of the season.
