    Great videos. I had a 92 LX 5.0/5 sp I bought brand new and did some mild mods over the course of ownership - till the kids came among. Mine still had the original T5 when I sold it. I'd installed a Hurst shifter fairly early on, and believe it made a difference in terms of transmission life - fewer misses shifts. Subframe. Connectors alone make the greatest contribution to improved handling. While mine was a CA and West TX car, i do recall another rust spot was under the deck spoiler. Not critical like towers or torque boxes. Those cars were fun.

    Very informative. Some things I knew, others I didn't like the shock towers and under the seats area. The torque boxes is something I learned recently, not from your video. I live in rust belt Michigan so one of the first places I look is underneath a car, in regards to Fox bodies, I'll focus more in the areas that you mentioned in your video. Some time in the future I'll be looking for a "hot rodded" Fox body Mustang. I had a 90 LX 5 speed. Bought it when it had around 14K on it, traded it in in 95 with slightly over 100K, and never had any major issues with it.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  7 лет назад

      These cars are way too simple to have "major issues" if the body/frame is good, nothing else is expensive or difficult to replace or repair.

    Ya thanks for this. Trying to figure out if I should keep my 92 GT and try to work with it or just start over with something fresh.
    The shots underneath the car with proper lighting and arrows very helpful!
    Can't poke a hole through anything yet but the areas that have surface rust ( similar to yours ) seem hard to access without either pulling the engine or ripping alot of every thing else out.
    Gonna start off cheap with rust neutralizer and por 15.
    My engine compartment is blue in color and I believe I saw a por15 topcoat that I believe is similar.
    As soon as it's a little warmer out this spring when I have some free time. Thanks again!

      Use it as an excuse to do other mods and combine the labor, get a set of gt40 heads and repair it with the top end of the motor off.

  • @phattvids

    Better than part 1. Rear (front) seat mounts tend to be an issue as well. The actually seat frame will often tear at the bolting points.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  6 лет назад

      Good add. The floor pan in general is flimsy, I actually had the front of my front seat mount go bad. It would be difficult to check that on the scene without a jack. It also wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, that's a fairly easy fix.

    Hey good video for people who don't know what they're doing and or what they're looking for but you did have a lil slip up that's not an ( irs independent rear suspension ) it's actually just a four link suspension setup on those cars where it has a full 8.8 rear end with the axles in closed within the rear end as opposed to an irs where there's just an center section with exposed cv axles going to the spindles and an upper and lower control arms just like in the front but other than that like I said good video for people who don't know what they're doing and or what they're looking for

      Premium Fuel Mag hey man I got I may have just missed you saying it or something like I said it's a good video for the ppl who don't know what's what and all I just wanted to mention that the Fox bodies all came out factory with the four link setup with either the 7.5 or 8.8 rearend like I say sorry if I missed something you had said I just wanted to make sure ppl know that Fox bodies came factory with the four link setup and the irs didn't come out in them until mid to late 90's and so if they went to buy a Fox body with an irs setup someone spent some time and money putting it in so that could be why the car may cost a lil extra and to also look it over real well and make sure it was done right you know I meant no disrespect or anything I just wanted to throw it out there

    • @Sgt.Slides

      IRS fox bodies are rare and uncommon. If someone was selling one, i'm sure they would be telling the buyer all about it, i seriously doubt anyone would get their hands on one without knowing it. I get what you're saying though. Thx for your input.

      Premium Fuel Mag like I said great video for ppl who don't know Fox bodies and I just throwed my knowledge in there and I truly never meant any disrespect and still don't by any means you do know your way around a Fox body unlike some folks and their video's so I would like to say thanks for helping people and the future generations to learn more about these amazing cars and at the current moment I truly envy you at this point even though I hate the color red I still envy you because of your good looking Fox I've owned 37 Fox bodies and oh how I wish I still had over half of them but anyway enough of my rambling thanks again for the video's and I hope I can get to see more of the Fox

    Borg and warner / Tremec T5 /World class t5. I got both and there not worth the price. T56 upgrade is the thing. had both rebuilt 700 each a pop, and still rides terrible and cant handle the power. Southern gear told me to upgrade to a z spec T5 parts but pricing is crazy

    Good vid, and no need to be embarassed about the strut tower thing. We all arent experts, your towers would be considered "mint" up here in New England lol...the job is very cost effective if you remove the engine for the person repairing it.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  6 лет назад

      yes, I welded spacers to the bottom of my springs, they were too low for my configuration, and yes, my pinch welds are bent up. I never claimed this to be a perfect example of a fox, if you'd pass on a car for bent pinch welds, that's your choice, have fun paying 12k for an old 5.0. I'd rather take that cash and buy a 2014.

    Im about to go look at a 1992 foxbody good condition and rebuilt trans but the passnger door got hit so it will need replacing also the drivers window got smashed so that needs replacing im going to go see it in a few weeks do you think its still worth a look even with the dented door and no window? its $3500 but im sure i can drop it to around $2500 maybe even cheaper i just want to make it my daily cause the car i drive now is just too expensive

    • @Sgt.Slides

      depends on how clean everything else is. look very closely for rust... if it's in average condition, i'd haggle for a lower price.

    Question everyone, is it realistic to think I can get a '88 - '93 Fox body 5.0 for around $3000? Just started looking and all I see is the ones on eBay for between $7K and $15K dollars.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  7 лет назад +1

      It's possible, you just have to do some searching, and you may have to travel some distance. It took me a year of looking off and on to find this car locally, however, if I had expanded my search it would have been much easier to find what I was looking for, I also only wanted a 90-93 car, I passed up a lot of pre '90 cars. Try joining some Mustang trader groups on Facebook, I see great deals come across all the time. also, check craigslist daily. Don't ever buy a car without looking over it yourself though. For $3000, you may not find the cleanest car, but you should definitely find something worth driving that you can fix up over time, and an additional $3000 will take any turd foxbody and make it show car ready if you spend smart and if you start with a good body and frame.

    • @phattvids
      @phattvids 6 лет назад +1

      Lots of liars and cheats on ebay. I strongly suggest you buy your first fox body locally. Know the buyer,have a first hand look at the car. $3000 can get you a good v8 car but you'd better know what you're looking for and have the cash in hand. A v8 car at 3 grand is either a steal,someone else's project(usually a nightmare),or an overpriced pile. Hell,a 7 grand car on ebay is often a pile of shit. Always looking for a sucker,buyer beware.

    • @indybrimhall8302
      @indybrimhall8302 6 лет назад

      Yes, it is possible, you just have to know where to look. Start with your local craigslist.

    hey i need help i need a car for my mechanical engeneering proyects i am between a 1990 5.0 or a 1997 v6. what do you think i should do?

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  7 лет назад +1

      Depends on your goals and purpose for the car, I went with the 1990 5.0 because parts cheap and accessible, and the car is VERY easy to work on. I just tore down my motor and it was easier than changing the spark plugs on a 4th gen Camaro. I don't have experience with a 97 v6 car, they are similarly easy to work on, the chassis are nearly identical, however I don't know how easy it is to get parts for the v6, especially performance parts.

  • @ZitroEduardo
    @ZitroEduardo 7 лет назад

    Good info , so what would you say is a fair price on these? 89-93 , like yours overall good condition nothing too bad .

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  7 лет назад +1

      It's difficult to say what a fair price is. Ultra clean fox cars are skyrocketing in value, however, i always tell folks it doesn't take much to transform a turd into a gym as long as the chassis and body is good. If you're lucky, you might snatch up a running driving car for $2500, cleaner OEM cars or modded cars can be in the 4-5k range, anc clean well modded cars could be 6k or more.

    WC T5s have much better synchro's and bearings that take longer to wear out.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  7 лет назад

      would you pay $1500 more for a car with a WC in it? Because every one that I came across, the seller tried to sell it as some high performance racing transmission (maybe they believed it maybe they didn't) I believed it until I did actual research.

    • @cumdumpster6688
      @cumdumpster6688 7 лет назад +1

      Well those people are delusional, they can't handle anymore power than NWC but they will shift smoother longer if you thrash your car. You can bang shift longer with a WC than a NWC trans, the NWC synchro's will fail sooner. I would not pay more than 200-300 more for a mustang with a WC. You can get WC trans at most scrap yards for dirt cheap 200-500$.

      T-5's are getting scarce around here, Junk yards sell them as soon as they get them.
