  • Raglan Castle (Castell Rhaglan) is a late medieval castle located just north of the village of Raglan in the county of Monmouthshire in south east Wales. The modern castle dates from between the 15th and early 17th centuries and it has a large hexagonal keep, known as the Great Tower or the Yellow Tower of Gwent.
It is now a tourist attraction and managed by CADW.
In May 2014 it hosted a Tudor Weekend. Henry Tudor, later King Henry VII, was raised at Raglan Castle from four years old to 14; The Tudors, the infamous dynasty, are really Welsh. As part of the activities, visitors marvelled at this re-enactment of the Battle of Bosworth, a true celebration of Tudor times. Living history groups included Armourial Knights and Beaufort Companye.

Honestly, the armor here looks better than any armor in any modern medieval show or movie.

Because it’s actually historical. And is designed to work.

Honestly, it looks shabby. It's alright for what it is and best regards to all participants, but it is not a battle reenactment of a particular battle. It's some guys having fun fooling around. That's alright. But don't pretend it's something it's not.

@@tilllodemann6913 tell me you know fuck all about armour without actually telling me you know fuck all about armour. That stuff is extremely good quality. Each one of those suits was likely thousands of £s each. And yeah, no shit they where just standing around. You don’t want to get that shit banged up. It’s designed to work, so you’d be fine. But repairing that stuff is a task and a half.

I love this sport and hate with a passion how underrated it is.
Edit: In regards to Buhurt or armoured fighting, I understand this may be just a demonstrative reenactment.

I've been lucky enough to of gone to raglan castle on many occasions, its a fine castle to behold but then travelling in and around Wales it's hard not to run into a castle. Wales is a country of castles built by the English to enforce subjugation upon the proud nation of Wales.

The best reenactment is the Battle of Tewksbury held every year. Absolutely amazing day out

Least in the old days like then if you got your arm lobbed off you could Disability living allowance (DLA). Nowadays with Personal independence payment (PIP) it's a lot harder to have a claim accepted
