It was the Classic Rock Awards at the Avalon Ballroom in Hollywood. November 4, 2014. Hosted by Sammy Hagar. California Breed was up for Album of the Year by the British magazine Classic Rock.

I have met a lot of artists in my day. Met THE Man numerous times. He is by far the most humble, charming, SINCERE, PERFECTIONIST I have ever met!! To have Glenn call me by name when he saw me at a Dead Daisies show😳 That speaks volumes of his character, and at that precise moment in my life that little “Mark, how are you? Thank you for all of your support throughout the years.”It might sound silly, but it warmed my heart, and it helped me face another day. I could go on and on, but I’ll save you the sappy stuff🙄 HUGHES RULZ!!

This is the best vocal performance I've ever heard, granted it's on youtube. The guitar is good also. I saw them live in St. Louis and they rocked the Pageant!

I watched this and was thinking, what an amazing voice and what a beautiful song! Almost brought me to tears.
Glenn hughes was the bass player and singer for deep purple, he was the singer for black sabbath on one album, he sang on albums for gary moore, john norum and many more, he has a solo career from 1977, i saw him live twice, in 2006 and 2012, the live show from 2012 was the best show of a vocalist i've ever saw and heard, he simply did all his vocals tricks on that show, what we have on the track before us is just a little taste from the best vocalist in rock history, there is a reason he's been called the voice of rock, thanks for sharing.

This song is about an experience Ihad a few years ago. Thanks Glen for writing this song. It is not possible for me to talk about my experience but that song helps me to understand it. You are so lucky to express those things while Im caged sometimes nearly loosing my mind. So now Ihave a song to listen to when I reach the fine line keeping me of crossing it again. Thanks

If you could go back 40 years in time when Deep Purple was playing at the California jam and showed this video to Glenn, I don't think he would even believe how ungodly amazing he sounds here! Seriously, try to name another rock singer from the 70's that still sounds like this!

Glen Hughes got great range, love when the guitarist started singing harmony. I thought Black Country Reunion was the only band he was in, with voice like that every band would want you in it.

Thanks for posting this. I remember watching this show live and was amazed; have watched this clip from other, not so good, sources. Interestingly, the audience was talking/laughing/noisy before these 2 started but very soon after, they were perfectly silent. On January 15, 2015, it was announced that California Breed had split up, with the band announcing on its Twitter page that "We are no more… another thing we couldn’t keep together." Watt later added his own thoughts on the announcement, adding "I put everything I had into this band. All I can say is I was in it for the long haul." And that's why Jason Bonham is an a$$hole.
So good. I have the California Breed cd. A shame they broke up..

So this is what happened when a singer and bassist from the 70's practice every day for 40 years instead of doing drugs, kiddos. Fucking worth it. Pure legend.
Read his Biography. He did his share of drugs! To quote Glenn, "Wasn't Everybody sniffing coke off strippers buns in the '70's?"
Glenn got sober in the 90's up until that point he did a lot of booze and coke. Amazing he's still alive.
Glenn describes himself as one of the most notorious cocaine addicts in the business and doesn’t remember the entire 1980’s decade.
