I read or heard somewhere about a farmer who received truck loads of full oyster shells, which he would then mix into the soil of his fields...and other farmers would come by and laugh and say he was crazy! That those full oyster shells wouldn't break down for 100 years! But the farmer with the shells in his land smiled back and replied, "Good, then in 100 years, this soil will be nutrient rich for the people who will need to grow food from it then."
