Chad, I love that you are taking in ALL of the Bee Gees library. Too many reviewers listen to 5 or 6 songs and think they've covered the Bee Gees. NO WAY! Thank you for your vast coverage.
In an interview they explained that this song is about the breakup they had in the late 60's early 70's. The media, girlfriends, managers, agents etc.. were telling each brother that they were the actual lead artist and that they didnt need the other 2. They argued with each other in the press, and would read things that the others had said about them. Being very young it broke up the band. They got back together some 15months or so later and though they had released solo hits in the brek they found it a\was not as satisfying or fun without each other.
This song has an extra poignancy for me, knowing that it comes from the last album they did together; before Mauricd died. They saved the best for last.
The video to this one shows their fun goofy side, you should watch it, it’s cute & funny. I love the song & video. Love my Bee Gees, miss Robin & Mo also miss Andy too, so glad we still have Barry, & that he’s still working & doing good.
You really need to watch the official video, it will make you laugh. There is also a “the making of” video that they explain exactly what this song meant to them. You truly will get to see a touch of their humor. I don’t think they they took themselves too serious except when they were in the recording studio or on stage. I also think this was their last video prior to Maurices’ death which ended the group. There’s another video out there where Robin & Barry are being interviewed & sing together for the first… & last time. It’s pretty moving & sad.
Enjoy your reviews and reactions. I have loved these guys for so long their talent just holds you in its grip. There may never be another group of entertainers to rival The Bee Gees. They had it all and they are missed every solid day and will live forever in our hearts💔🌹💔🌹❤️🌹 ALWAYS
Chad. I’m so glad I found you. I have been watching you for many months now and I do appreciate all the BeeGees songs you react to. Love the BeeGees ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Please keep them coming 👍
Probably my favorite Bee Gees song of all time (if one can pick a favorite from their enormous and unparalleled catalog) Appropriate that it was the first song on their last album. I think it is a look back at their career as a band (and the life that singers lead), their relationships with women, and their bond as family. Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece.
They are so clever with their lyrics. It can mean anything you want it to mean. What it means to your personally. I understood it to mean to them their career in general. All along the line people telling them they wouldn’t make it, it couldn’t be done. But they proved everyone wrong over and over again. Every time…this is where I came in. And they are always here for us in their music. Their video for the song references a van that harks back to their first days here in Australia. As I said, so so clever and ridiculously talented.
Iam glad you reacted to this one not many have.. I think that most of the Guys and Gals have the story pretty much on point.. If you get the chance you might want to watch the original video and see how they had a little fun at the same time as making it...
For Whom the Bell tolls, Run to me, Fanny be tender with my love, Jive Talkin, Stayin Alive, How can you mend a broken heart, To Love Somebody, Massachusetts, New York Mining Disaster. Bell Tolls is about his brother, Andy's broken relationship and descent into drugs. Pretty amazing as is Wish you were here.
Great tune. One that commercially doesn't get much action now but a massive oversight for anyone just playing the bigger hits. This as a swan song for the brothers (among a few other excellent tracks from this era) is a constant on my playlist and a wonderful example of how i like to remember them together.
I just want you to know I love your reactions and personal love for it. I absolutely love The Bee Gees. You’re doing a great job. I would really love your next reaction to be Fanny, Be TenderWith My Love. I think this is on of their best. There is so much stuff going on. You will see then sing different parts than they use. Never over or under estimate The Bee Gees. the request is FANNY (Be Tender with Your l Love)

It tickles me so much the love you have for these amazing artists, you have great taste my man you think you have heard alot but the brothers have 100 top 10 songs they wrote for themselves and others truly amazing talent.you heard me right i said 100 top10
Interpreting their lyrics can sometimes be very challenging and this song is a good example of that. If you haven’t yet, watch the official video for the song. It’s very amusing.
It’s just a song about themselves and things they had gone through the last 30 years before they wrote it and how things never seem to change. Maurice said he used two old guitars that belonged to the Beatles when they recorded the song. So cool! Great reaction to this awesome song!
You should watch the video that goes with this song. It is really funny and they are just cutting loose. If you watch that video the lyrics will make more sense. When Robin sings about "I'll go anywhere with you" I think he is talking about Maurice. If you see a guitarist with tattoo sleeves and a beard, that is Barry's son Stephen.
I love your Bee Gees reactions and hope you will continue the marathons for a long, long time. For the oldies weekends, i am rather surprised that you have not reacted to John Denver. Talk about another brilliant, life changing, very deep rabbit hole! Hint: his big hits weren't his best songs. Here are a few more obscure ones i would recommend to start: Heart to Heart, Shanghai Breezes, Never a Doubt, For Bobby, Looking for Space. Enjoy!
Must be so hard for Barry, to have lost all his brothers Robin, Maurice and Andy. But luckily we still have him, and Chad you are so right Barry really looks after himself well.
Neil Burns - Unfortunately, although Robin was a vegetarian, stopped smoking early in life and was a teetotaler for most of his life he died a terrible death of cancer.
Neil Burns Barry's suffered from rheumatoid arthritis for decades. That's why they stopped touring and did the one night only shows. And why he is wearing wrist supports while playing the guitar way back to the 80s.

Such a nice song. I always enjoy this one. What a shame that this was their last hit. The album' This is where I came in' turned out to be their last studio album. That is 😔

React again, but with the official video!!!! The song (and video) is autobiographical. “They cannot take away (the gift) what you (God) have given me. They know not what they do. Forgive them of their sins.” They are referencing the hateful anti-Bee Gees movement after their super success in the late 70’s. 🥀Amazing video but I've been trying to figure out what exactly what they mean. They have alot of tunes that their talking about ppl close to them. Mo used to do the jam at the end of concerts (he had the perfect voice for it too 😋) but he would say as he introduced Alan, "he's been with us longer than we have". 😂

The guitar Maurice is playing was a gift from John Lennon for Maurice's 21st birthday. Each band greatly admired the other.
Wow Robin💖
I love how they stand back to give Robin the time in space for his solo.
