It only became wild after Rising tbh. In MGS2 Rose is only his girlfriend, in MGS4 they're apart for most the game and because of illuminati patriot bs Rose lies about their child and he only knows his son exists after you beat the game, and the ending implied Jack was going to leave the battlefield behind and stay with his family. Which he did try to do to be fair.

Snake's dialogue is weirdly in-character here. Raiden, on the other hand, was way too talkative. The real Raiden would have simply gone "Huh?" and then politely waited for Snake to finish talking before sheepishly rebuting, especially considering this is pre-cyborg Raiden.
