I grew up boarding on the east coast mid atlantic region and moved here a year ago and started boarding in the tahoe area, and decided on a mt rose season pass. I don't regret it at all, especially after last season's record breaking snowfall, this season seems lackluster but rose has had pretty good, if not great conditions so far this season. Love the mountain
I grew up skiing here as a "rosebud" as the ski school kids were known. I remember when the Slide Side lodge was just that, a straight up wooden cabin with the equivalent of a hole in the wall bar and you could buy al ift ticket from the bartender. Once we progressed we would hike from Mt Rose pass on the highway up around the world to ski the chutes in the spring after they closed down for the season. The number of absolutely insane days I have had on this mountain is wild. I've ridden this place well over 500 times, probably more than 1000 in total. Will always be my home mountain. You can get as gnarly as your bravado will let you and you'll never outgrow this place. Cheers for the good review.
Major sleeper in Tahoe when theres snow. I grew up in Reno and learned to ski at Slide Mt (they were separate back then). My friends mom ran the ski shop so my friend and i skied every weekend for free, for years. There were a few blue bird powder days where we rode the first chair of the morning. Mt rose doesnt have a lot of vertical, but you can turn laps. We used to regularly get 40+ runs in a single day. My friend even got a helicopter ride to the hospital when he broke his back doing a massive jump at the top of Northwest.
I moved to Reno 3 years ago and my plan was to try every mountain to see which one I liked most. I have never ventured from Mt Rose. I fell in love with it my first visit.
My local mountain. There are plenty of larger other destinations around (Palisade, Northwest, Heavenly...) but when you have something like this at 20 minutes from your doorstep it becomes the natural place to go. And with a seasonal pass it's a no-brainer...
I'm a local now (originally from NC), went with Ikon this year but got the Mt. Rose pass the last couple seasons. If you picked this mountain up and moved it to the East Coast, it would be the best ski resort in 500 miles in any direction, easily. I love Mt. Rose! But compared to the sheer terrain volume at Palisades, Mt. Rose is small potatoes.
Coming from another local - I am also 15 mins from the lodge - my only complaint about Rose is the price and that it lends itself better to skiing. That's not to say boarders can't enjoy it. Also the majority of the mountain is not great for beginners, so if you spend all that money on the ticket and can only use a small portion of the hill, well yea. As mentioned in the intro, it's a generally steep mtn. And yes, the Chutes are no joke. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful place and not well known by out-of-towners - although that is quickly changing, hence this video. The 22-23 season was insane. People watching this video can't imagine that season. We were clearing snow every other day at the house and some of the resorts remained open until early August. It was a bit much. Excellet and fair review. PS: One more thing. It's NE-VA ('a' as in APPLE) - Duh.
All season might be a stretch, the resort isn’t huge however the lack of crowds when compared to let’s say Northstar or Palisades is a benefit. There are also enough groomed black runs which will allow for progression. Have a good season 👍
There are 3 main ones and sometimes more, Pondo has a variety of jumps, rails and boxes best for everyone, Badlands is mostly the same just on the other side, and a mega park under Zephyr with 20' jumps sometimes with gaps or rarely a halfpipe.
Wow, Mt Rose looks like a hidden gem. I never realised it was home to such diverse terrain.
The resort certainly flies under the radar in Lake Tahoe which is part of the appeal

It really is a hidden gem of a resort
I’m a local (literally live 15 mins from the main lodge) and Rose is my local mountain: you nailed this review!!
Why thank you! A compliment from a local means we must have got something right :)

A great video about one of Tahoe's worst kept secrets .., and our home mountain.
It really is an incredible resort which I think gladly sits in the shadows of its neighbours

Mt Rose is 100% the sleeper resort of Tahoe. Low crowds, incredible terrain and great value lift passes.

What an amazing resort to have as your local!

100% if you put Mt Rose in the east it would kill it, but would it be the same with east coast snow 🤔

If i stick to mainly blue runs you think there's enough to keep me happy all season?

Have a good season 👍
@@snowstash ty man. You too 👍
Do they have any terrain parks? If so, any comment on them in terms of what they offer and skill level they cater to?
They had one main terrain park on the Zephyr side of the resort, nothing insanely major but would accommodate mid level terrain park riders.
