    Im going to see this movie on friday. My dad grew up in cali during this time and went through struggles as a young black man so i know he's excited to see this film too. Im glad this movie is coming out in a time where were having issues in Ferguson, Baltimore, etc. ✌🏾️👊🏾✊🏾

    I am a black man (neva mind my screen name) and I automatically expected them to dislike the movie. Especially the white woman. But to hear her really understand the movie and give a fair impression was great. Even if she disliked it, I d appreciate how honest I feel she is being. I have to check my own prejudices....I apologize for stereotyping that a White Woman would automatically hate a NWA movie.

      MobiusCoin yeah I think gibbs is the perfect synthesis of west coast gangsta rap and the gangsta rap that came from the south. He has that classic hard but effortless flow. His album with madlib called piñata is really solid. Especially the track thuggin which has one of the most understated build ups I have heard in any hip hop track. Gibbs is on fire and has an amazing kind of simmering cool aggression which I think is unparalleled in modern rap. I am not sure why he isn't mentioned more in contemporary hip hop conversation because to me he seems one of the best representing solid, lyrical gangsta rap.

    Some of you reviewers are having issues with the 3rd act because in interviews Gray said he had to cut an hour to get it to the current running time. He also stopped short of saying there will be a director's cut in the interview.

    HANDS DOWN the BEST movie of the year (not even gonna say "so far" because I know this will stay at the top for me for quite a while). I mean as a film-love and a die hard Hip Hop-lover...I've ALWAYS wanted to see a movie that combines the two in the most beautiful way...THE ONLY movie that came close (besides documentaries) was "DOPE" which came out this Summer.
    While DOPE started this Summer off right with a fresh, original story featuring Hip Hop...STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON triumphantly finishes the Summer with the biggest bang in a while. BEAUTIFULLY shot (to the point some scenes you get chills because it just looks SO RAW and energetic..and many LONG-SHOTS that last over a minute). The acting was flawless (goes with the casting too, EVERYONE...shit even Tupac was perfectly cast). The music (Roy Ayers' song "Everybody Loves the Sunshine") when Dr. Dre is introduced and it has a Summer-time glow to it that feels nostalgic actually made my eyes water a little bit...because I always wanted a SUMMER movie to be all about this, and that song along is extremely nostalgic and gorgeous sounding...and seeing all those Vinyl records surrounding Dr. Dre as he zones out to the music...reminded me of myself in the Summer all my life and I swear I got choked up just by that alone.
    Eazy-E in the hospital made me straight up hold tears back...the acting was so powerful that it was sad but beautiful to see. I always hoped a Hip Hop group would shine in the Hollywood spotlight....and Hollywood...hats off to you, you FINALLY released something that is not only beautiful, unique, and freshly original....BUT NOT A FUCKING SEQUEL, OR REMAKE, OR REBOOT, OR SUPERHERO MOVIE!!! wow...good for you Hollywood, too bad it had nothing to do with you but just your studios releasing it, but DAMN this was just too phenomenal.
    I was pissed...my friend (who eventually got into Rap and asked me questions about Eazy-E and Tupac MANY TIMES since he knows I loves it) didn;t feel like going because "he never listened to N.W.A. a lot" I was like "YOU DON'T HAVE TO...you don't even have to know who they are to appreciate the movie, but you DO know them so why not?"...I just kept hearing excuses and said whatever and still went with my other friend (who only knows about 2 N.W.A songs and he LOOOOOOVED the movie just like I did) we laughed, we even cried because we were hiding our watery eyes from eachother (I could tell because a minute later after an emotional scene involving Dre's brother...I looked at him to say something and his eyes were watery so I didn't say anything for a minute but I said "I feel ya bro...I feel ya" lol).
    OMG this movie had laughs, cries, cheers....BRAVO. Anyone who doesn't see this because "they don't like Rap" or think its about praising gangstas or something is so close-minded you don't even DESERVE to see this incredible film.
    Yea lets keep it like that, doesn't matter how much money this movie makes..I just want OPEN MINDED people and REAL people to see this, not fakes who judge everything and everyone by their cover and ASSUME they glorify violence, sex, and drugs...anyone with that logic, do us all a favor and go watch Jurassic World or something, atleast that movie is so terribly stupid with it's bland dialogue, ugly effects, and boring flat characters that you'll probably enjoy that much more than this INCREDIBLY energetic and triumphant film.
    BTW....anyone else feel like THIS was more of an Avengers film than Age of Ultron? I barely remember ANY of that movie, I mean it wasn't bad but just felt like every other Superhero movie...THIS felt like an origins story for Hip Hop Avengers...yeah, that goes to show even THIS MOVIE was a better Superhero movie than Ultron.

    I personally liked the last act. You had to have those two characters in there because they are a big part of Dre's story. Good review guys. I think that the 2 characters introduced in the 3rd act are so big that it kind of felt rushed because you would want more setup because of the magnitude of those characters.

    I hope if a movie about Nirvana or Alice in Chains is ever made or the ones already in production for Janis Joplin, Hank Williams, Elton John, they will be as supposedly well made as this one and well advertised! We've had musical biopics for Joy Division, The Runaways and most recently which Paul Giamatti also was in this Summer Brian Wilson's Love and Mercy. I feel they should have gotten just as much publicity as SOC!

      @Marz916 9 лет назад +2

      TheRelentlessKnight That last act isn't bad, it's just not as good as the first two acts, which were outstanding. The last act wasn't as cohesive. The scene with Snoop and Dre doing Nuthin' But a G Thang came out of nowhere and was mainly a nod for the fans, I liked it, but it felt a bit out of place. The ending would have been perfect right when Eazy-E died, but I'm sure Dr. Dre asked for the little plug at the end, which also felt out of place.

    • @HolloVVpoint
      @HolloVVpoint 9 лет назад +1

      Yeah haven't seen the movie yet but I don't see why Ren is a supporting character? I mean I have all the NWA albums, I grew up listening to hip hop and Ren was the other main MC. I would argue that a lot of his lyrics are better than cubes and he was the only one who stayed with Easy after the break up.

    • @kevandalzell7906
      @kevandalzell7906 9 лет назад +1

      My guess is the Ren is seen as having a failed solo career, and that "nobody" even remembers Yella? I think Ice Cube and Ren could rap far better than Dre or Eazy. Oh, well... Still, it's cool they made the movie.

    The movie was inaccurate Tupac was not with death row when Eazy E died, he was incarcerated, when Eazy E died "Me against the world" was the #1 album and went 4x plat. also Eazy was fucking with Bone and he also was cool with with Naughty by nature during his beef with Death row.

    I know they say that this is not really accurate and they gloss over some facts, but I-d really commend you to read this review from one of the women Dr. Dre beat up. I know it's just a movie and they do were revolutionary at the time, but I hate that important facts are overlooked.

      this movie was about the group as whole not small little matters about that. Now if the movie was Called Dre i could see the problem. But if you really think something like that should be added in the movie then you need to have a class on the process of telling a story.
