And today marks exactly 50 years since the release of the album "Mirage". Congratulations to Camel fans and all fans of progressive rock 🎸✌. You have a great vinyl collection, Alex! 👍💥
Rock and Roll Animal is one of my favorite live albums. I'm surprised how many people haven't listened to it just because it's Lou Reed. As teenagers, we wore out a couple of copies of this album on cassette, playing on all those long, late night road trips. The guitars, and especially the bass player are killin' it.
Oh hell yeah.. and they'd go and play with Alice Cooper shortly thereafter. I know Lou rubs some people the wrong way, but that live album is just a damn good rock n roll album!
Congrats on 50 Alex..Some great albums in 1974..After 50 years I am now officially a fan of Lamb Lies Down On Broadway..Hatfield and The North..criminally underrated..Two great Crimson albums..On The Beach is my fav Neil album too👍a MOFI Crime Of The Century is on my grail list..Tom Waits !!! Great video Alex👍❤glen
Congratulations on fifty videos! Thanks for including the Grateful Dead and Renaissance on your list here. I remember most of these records from way back then, it's like you Time Tunneled it back to 1974, ran into a record store, grabbed 50 records, and came back to tell us about them.
oh man.. that would have been the best! Tried to include a little bit of everything here and bands like Renaissance just aren't talked about enough. Cheers my friend!
50 already! Loved your choices here,, though I can't believe that some of these are 50 already. Crime of the Century is an incredible record. Nice to see Rush, Van Morrison, and Tom Waits in the mix. I like Late for the Sky more than I ever thought I would.
that's a great list. I did my 1974 AOTY video from a few months ago, and you showed 20 of the 32 on my list (although my lists are *Rough Drafts* anyway).
Oh yeah... this stuff changes daily and I know there are so many that would change even if I did it today. I'll have to go check out that video... cheers!
"That's one stupid looking camel," haha, hilarious. Planet Waves has never stuck to me, but Before the Flood, tasty. I have No Other but have only listened to it once. Killer white label! Jackson B, so good. KISS, so much material in 74. "I don't give a hell," I've never heard that one haha. "On the Beach....a beautiful, beautiful record." Tom Waits, time to get a ciggy. Van the Flippin' Man. Nice work Alex, that's a lot of records you have there. Thanks for the shout!
Some pretty damn good albums when i first listened to relayer it thought it was okay then I listened to it for a 2nd time and I was blown away at how amazing it sounded now I love it!
Congratulations on 50 videos! This was a great idea. I loved watching you go through these. I didn't realize some of my favorites are 50 this year: Neil Young - On the Beach, Lou Reed - Rock n Roll Animal, T. Rex - Tank, Tom Waits - The Heart of Saturday Night, ELO - Eldorado, etc. Great stuff! You almost have me tempted to buy that Kansas debut album! Thanks, Alex. Really enjoyed this.
Congratulations on 50 videos. Here are a couple from 1974:. 1. Band On the Run, Wings 2. Natty Dread, Bob Marley, and the Wailers - No Woman No Cry and Lively Up Yourselves 3. Back Home Again, John Denver
Wow! I now feel old AF! LoL! 50 yrs on these records! Some great stuff here Alex! I’m a big Bowie fan and I finally scored a copy of DD end of last year! Glad you showed that ELO, they get zero love in the VC! I scored a copy of Badfinger-Straight Up & BeBop DLux-Axe Victim last weekend as they’ve both eluded me for awhile! Cannot go wrong with Deep Purple! Love the Funk of Funkedelic! You’re right Gong is a great stony listen! LoL! Great stuff man! How you were able to show all these Laps in under 20 mins is amazing! It would’ve took me 2 hrs as I’m a blabbermouth! Peace ✨✌️👽✨PS I subbed you up! I thought I was already subbed but I guess not ahaha
Hi Alex! Lots of prog! Not always my thing, but for whatever reason prog acts always have excellent artwork. Gong! Nice Grateful Dead pick! Chick Corea! I think I might be able to do a 50 at 50 list, but will have to do some "research." Have an excellent week. ✌🐱
Thanks Mike! Don't worry... my love of prog only makes up for my loneliness and and romantic inferiority. It's an exchange I made early and life and it still haunts me to this day. Hoping to see you in July, brother!
Geez sorry but I have to comment again because of KISS and Mott the Hoople! I love em both and my fave KISS is Hotter Than Hell and Destroyer with maybe Rock & Roll Over thrown in for good measure! But ai love all the Mott! Peace ✌️👽 Dude if you dig that era of Scorps then you have to have Taken by Force as UJR tears it up on The Sails of Charon Also check out their debut Lonesome Crow It’s not even recognizable compared to 80’s Scorps!
Congratulations on the big 50! Isn’t it amazing how many of these albums we still regularly talk about and play?! Why? Because they’re great. Well not Frank Zappa. He’s just ok. The baby face covered with a beard and the serial killer plain as fuck background behind you makes it difficult to guess your age. I’m guessing 35. But it’s impressive how fluent you are with this information and this amazing collection you have. Well done Alex!
HAHAHAHAHA Gary you're killing me brother. I'll be 34 this week so you are pretty damn close. I do need to figure out a different background but then again the Dahmer vibes are kind of my thing. Ted Bundy had a way with the ladies so I don't know what my problem is... but such is life. Appreciate the kind words my friend!

Thanks so much! Would love for more people to talk about Camel.. love them!
Happy 50

Thanks Glen! That Crime of the Century sounds amazing but as you know, the original vinyl does as well... a sonic masterpiece!

New sub to your place Alex. The Coryell thumbnail got my attention 😋. Greg
Appreciate! Lots of jazz fusion over here and always love connecting with others on that!
