The fourth generation of the Ford F-Series is a line of pickup trucks and commercial trucks that were produced by Ford from October 1960 to August 1966. Sleeker and wider than its predecessor, the new F-Series introduced several firsts to the truck line. In Canada, the F-Series continued to be distributed by Mercury dealers as the M-Series.
In October 1964, the 1965 F-Series introduced an all-new frame, which would then be used on the F-Series until 1979. In contrast, the body remained largely unchanged, but the 1965 and 1966 models the turn signals are above the headlights. Replacing the rudimentary straight-axle in the front was all-new independent "Twin I-Beam" suspension with coil springs on two-wheel-drive trucks.[3] The 1965 and 1966 F-Series trucks are distinguished with a "TWIN I-BEAM" emblem on the front fender. The F-Series also included a 4-door crew-cab model.
The 240 cu in (3.9 L) and 300 cu in (4.9 L) straight six was introduced. With the introduction of the 208 hp (155 kW; 211 PS) 352 cu in (5.8 L) FE V8, output surpassed 200 hp in the F-Series for the first time.
F-100 (F10, F14): 1/2 ton (4,000-5,000 GVWR max)

F-250 (F25): 3/4 ton (7,400 GVWR max)
F-250 (F26)(4×4): 3/4 ton (4,900 GVWR max)
F-350 (F35): 1 ton (9,800 GVWR max)
A Camper Special was available featuring heavier-duty components to accommodate the slide in campers that were becoming increasingly popular during this time.
For 1965, the Ranger name first appeared as a styling package for the F-Series pickup trucks. The interior featured bucket seats and a curtain over the gas tank which was behind the seats in the cab.

I would like to see how you store and display all your completed models
No plans to give a tour of my home or storage boxes, sorry man!
My first truck was a 65 with a wooden flatbed. Had the 352 with a granny low 4 speed, with 410 rearend. Would climb over anything. It was so low geared it would start in 3rd gear with clutch engaged! Loved that truck. Drove til the cam flattened and it would pop back through carb. That was an amazing old truck.
Howdy! 8months late! I bought this kit finally and built my first truck!! Dug up a photo album from my senior year and built and painted it just like my truck! Scratch built the wooden flatbed and everything! This was one of the best fitting kits I've ever built! Gonna get some more of Model King Ford's. Really fantastic building kit.
Build for yourself! I love that. I just got back into the hobby and that mindset makes it so much more enjoyable. Thanks for that.
Right on!
Ha ha Chris .. I love you car owner's back stories . I used to think .." if the truck drove over a muddy road.. it would look like this. " Now I think ." Taking the kids to visit Grampa who's farm is at the end of a 1/2 dirt road and it rained all night... oh well... can't disappoint the kids. " lol Thanks for the fun build.
Thanks GD!
Another thing I like about this kit is the New Jersey License Plate
Joe krause Joisey man are you?
hehe.. me too!
Toms River's 2 minutes up 37 from me.
Paul Clayton I’m about an hour from their
Wow. Honestly I'm am shocked about how stunning the the paint turned out. Sure beats spraying multiple layers of paint, wet sanding and polishing & buffing.
Really nice build. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks. 😉 Keep up the good work. 👍👍
Super nice!
Thanks!
"To hell with what everybody else thinks!" Love it!
That's right, build for you and have FUN!
The simple white roof top sets the kit off very nicely.
Thank you!
This generation of F100 is my absolute favorite. I was supposed to inherit my dad's '65 but he lost it during a divorce from my now ex-stepmother. I just checked the website you got your kit from and found exactly what I'm looking for, but it's short wheelbase and flareside. the long bed style side was the best imo
Longbed is coming out later this year, stay tuned!
@@hpiguy Awesome!
My friend's dad had one of these that was painted white. They were electrician's. I remember it parked in their driveway. I would love to put one together the way they had it. Theirs also had ladders racked on the top sides. I would have to have a decal made for it. It would bring back a load of memories. --Cindi aka Granny Glue-Sniffer
Thanks Cindi!
The roofers working next door have one very similar I noticed yesterday.
I like how you build them. Especially as you do not go overboard with painting. No polishing till the paint has a mirror finish, back in the day paint on cars was not that great and you keep it thus very realistic.
Wish it had a taller box to harvest to build a Squad 51 Rescue truck!
Hi, try BCS on ebay under rescue/ utility truck body .Its $ 26.99 with free ship. I used one but had to cut it just a little bit. It is just the truck bed you need the new dodge truck kit to complete it. Have a good day.
I had several work trucks like that with Koenig service beds. Sure brings back memories.
Nice, I've got the 67 now too, will be doing a build up.
The tanks in the bed are impressive! Beautiful build.
Glad you like them!
This is the best model car channel on RUclips
Well thank you very much! I do much more than cars though, I love anything I can model! Welcome!
I am glad Moebius is bringing in the 60s and 70s Ford trucks I hope they keep it up and you do fine work bud enjoy your videos
Thanks Nathan!
Great build, Chris. Thanks for showing it to us.
Man that stuff in the back looks awesome in that truck.
It does!
Hands down the best build you have done , it's as RIGHT as could be .would not change anything .could not improve at all .👍😷
Thanks 👍
I love going back and watching your videos again and again.to see how you did something.
On all of your models I love your commentary too
Thanks Roger!
Just got my order from Model Roundup (Oct 2019) both 65's Flair Side and Service Truck plus some mud flaps for my big rigs. Oct 2019 issue Scale Auto Mag on page 18 shows a third truck with a pick-up bed called Custom Cab LWB due 2020, I'll have to buy a dozen! No Joke! Going to build this one as a 60's trailer hauler for a 60's area drag racer. Of course the service bed will house all the tools, parts, tires etc for a weekend drag racer, hows that for a spin.. I own a full size 65 F-100 that I upgraded with 70's Ford parts, power steering, auto, came with a 9" and I stuck a Yukon posi in it etc, big nasty 390 built-up from a 65 T-Bird with 64 heads and other after market goodies. California truck made in San Jose, no rust!
Went to the big box paint store and bought a ton of Rustoleum both spray and about a dozen quarts with some acetone and hardener so I can spray through my mini touch-up gun and my airbrush for some wood projects. Ever spray it in an airbrush?
Love your build as usual, I'm going to weather mine up also, drag race tire dust!
The tree that has the engine is a 70's tailgate. From their 70's F-100 kit, so technically it is a 390? Have fun with that. The other tailgate with the front end components is correct for 66-66 so that tells me the LWB bed is coming!
Yup all types of trucks coming.
I do model railroading and when I do scenery, I paint it all black. When I paint the colors over it gives me shadows. I learned that from experts like yourself on realistic modeling.
Thanks Ken!
fantastic build, would love one of them,it would cost me a fortune as i would be charged customs, used a silver sharpie for the first time, brilliant, got a set of three gold, silver and bronze, used the bronze on the exhaust, came out brilliantly,i just rubbed it on the exhaust then got a q tip and started to rub it off just as it was drying, give it a try yourself chris, keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching Richard and the tip!
Great build, so realistic in the slide show at the end.
Thanks Jon!
These kits have come a long way from the ones I built in the 70's and 80's. I'm getting back into it. Just bought an airbrush and compressor today. Already have 2 models mailed to me.
When you have a two piece driveshaft like this one, its connected in the middle by what is called a Carrier Bearing. I had to replace one on my 1963 Impala back in the day.
You do awesome work btw. That paint job is excellent!
Thank you Jason!
It's also good to see Moebius doesn't clip off the "not needed" parts, it prevents production errors, cuts costs, and as Chris said helps you build-up a decent parts box.
I agree!
Great looking build. Now ya got me thinking about switching hobby for a while and doing this truck.
Know what you mean about a brand new truck.
I went to work for a company back in 1973 and was given to use a brand new Dodge tool box service truck. We had three of them and loved to parade them when a crews were working together.
👍👍👍😎😎😎
You'll enjoy getting back into it. It's fun having more than one hobby, you can always go back and forth.
These trucks had steel dashes,no vinyl tops. Just saying, love your builds! No criticism, just FYI. Glad you got the original photos of the motor, those gold valve covers were very cool looking. Almost looked like anodized aluminum, but were, of course, stamped sheet metal. Another neat tidbit about these trucks, the early 65's had stainless steel grills. Ford used up the stainless they had left over. The funny part was that they painted them if the customer ordered a painted grill!
Thanks for watching Tom!
This is third time I've watched this build. Very nicely done.
Thanks Doc!
I like how you use black primer under light colored paint to bring out details.
Thanks, it works well.
your hood/fan setup works pretty good. i can see those paint clouds getting sucked up. and you got the part right about the whiners😏
Thanks and Thanks!
Pride in one's work - THAT'S what sets you apart. Mighty fine build - oh, and I'm glad we got to see it before that second shift guy banged it up. Those service doors look like you could reach over and unlatch 'em. So nice.
Thank you for sharing...
Thanks a lot RA!
Love this. Do some more 60s vehicles
Wow this kit is well sorted with goodies !
All sorts of extras
Why I like your channel Chris, is you build anything and everything, looking like it came off the show room floor or a vehicle that been driving around for years. Always love your build's.😃👍
Thanks Charles, it's always fun to change things up now and then.
352 came in either black with gold cleaner and v covers, or Ford Blue. Depending on applications.
Super Nice Truck. I had a real life Tow Truck Wrecker this Year Ford Truck. A few Years ago Model King released a Camper Unit that would Set this Rig off Right. I had one And used the 72 Chevy Pickup wish I still had it for this.
Thanks Matt!
This one turned out real nice. Great color choices. Your real life commentary makes me laugh. My '97 F-250 city service truck was a 135k mile hand me down, from another department. It was almost trashed, by the time I got it. Except for rear ending a lady, when she slammed on her brakes, I've kept it in great condition, for the last 20k. Even throw a coat of wax on the cab periodically.
JT
People, dont take this the wrong way but yes Ford made a 352 engine back in that era. All you ever hear of these day's are 351 Ford engines.
I had a 66 with a 352. It was an old farm 🚚. The 352 ran great.
Super nice truck, this one is now on my future kit to build. Thanks for the glass tip.
Thanks for watching!
If this is not the best model you've done, is one of the top five. Beautiful!
Thanks a lot Charlie!
Awesome superb outstanding excellent stupendous amazing beautiful stunning eye popping jaw dropping that is the way I would build one of those trucks well done
Thank you so much 😀
Thanks another review. I often look up your build when researching to see if a kit is worth building, rather than just going in the stash.
Thanks William, glad to help!
Very nice kit I really like the detail Moebius included in this model.
It's a sweet model!
Your so right about build your models your way and to have fun and smile doing it great work
Correct, build to a level that makes YOU happy. The trolls don't matter.
I am subbed to a couple modeling channels and I will say this has to be my fav. I love the laid back nature of his builds. People tend to get to into make a model as "realistic" as possible, the "rivet counters" and forget to have fun. He brings the fun back into the hobby and reminds us all how enjoyable it really is. I stumbled across this and one other channel, and they are what got me back into modeling. Keep the good work!
Thanks a lot! It's more important to me to enjoy the build and the hobby than it is to stress over perfection and suck all the fun out of it.
@@hpiguy Absolutely! My models are far from perfect but I had a LOT of fun building them.
Awesome truck! Absolutely love the color combination! I would also like to thank you for sharing your skills and tips with the modeling community. Especially the younger builders. My son is 13 and loves your videos. He's got watching them now. Keep up the good work and God bless. Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks, and great to hear. All kinds of stuff coming up, hope you both like it!

Thanks!
Picked one up today and can't wait to build it, great video.
Right on!
Man that is just super neat. Looks like a good fun build.
Thanks Vern, it is!
I love watching your videos. Your enthusiasm is addictive lol. What I love more is you make and paint models for people like me. You make them to have fun, no ultra fine detail but just enough to make the end result amazing. I don't do vehicles normally but just did the Tamiya 1966 VW Beetle for my wife and can understand why you do these kits now. I also used spray cans for the first time and the end result is so impressive, I bought a load more. So much fun to be had. keep these vids coming, I really look forward to EVERY release!
Thanks a lot Peter, that's what it should all be about, FUN!
Beautiful build! Makes me wish I had a real one that looked like that.
Thank you!
A Close Encounters version would be awesome.
I believe the Close Encounters truck was a '75 or so.
I have three moebius models of the Ford pickup series..two 1971 ranger XLT's and a 1972 f100 sport custom.. very much detail 😀😀😀
Awesome video as always I've been watching your content for awhile now you got me doing sub assembly and paint out of a can like you do it works much better for me great stuff always keep it coming
Thanks Derek!
Congratulations on an excellent build, simply beautiful.
Thanks Robert!
Nice assembly. Very good job. 👏👏👏

Another good job, like the paint choices.
Thank you!
It's beautiful. The equipment in the back is awesome.
Thanks Steven!
Looks really good - thanks for the tips about the windshield.
Thanks Mary!
I absolutely love this service truck! Perfect color scheme. The AMT accessories look terrific in the truck bed. I don't really need more kits added to my wish list, but you keep tempting me with great new kits. Such fun! Thank you, Chris for another great model kit review.
Thanks Stephen!
Accessories for the bed......the extra drive shafts in the kit! LOL
Thanks for watching!
Looks beautiful!

These Kits I get them right from the Model King them self I’m friends with the guy the Burket decal was named after
