For AP/IB curriculum, I have something to share regarding McGill University. I was originally enrolled at McGill University for my first Bachelor's degree. I found McGill is really generous to provide credit transfer. I know some people who completed the full IB diploma had the full freshmen year credit transferred, implying they skipped the entire first year and started the second year right away! Well, it still depends on the number of credits in a particular program. If it's the general engineering program that has more credits, students still have some credits left for the first-year program, so they can still start taking second-year courses and take some mandatory first-year courses at the same time. I'm not too sure about AP. What I only know is some students from US took AP and transferred a decent amount of credits too, but not sure if they transferred most freshmen year credits. For myself, I took A-Level which is the British high school/college program before undergrad. Since I also took Advanced Level which is equivalent to the first-year college, so McGill had my entire first-year credits transferred as well! I was enrolled in Commerce which only has 120 credits, so there's no credit left for U0. But my other high school friend who went to U of T was another story. She transferred for only one elective course and that's it... So my main point is that AP/IB is good to take if students want to have more credits transferred to reduce the course load.

I am a german student of psychology and I really want to go to Canada for my masters! Thank you for this video! Would you say that even I am from a different country it would be a good idea to go to Canada? 🙈
yes for sure! although the tuition for international student sis quite high, many universities are very receptive to them and have many resources that help with the transition :)
my son is Canadian but living abroad in UAE. Do you think it would be better to move back to Canada for university or last years of High school?. How many years before finishing high school would be ideal in your opinion?.
hey! ouac is only where you indicate which programs you apply to - if the program only looks at grades then you're set, but any supplementary info will be on individual university portals :)
Using the OUAC 105 application, do I need to pay for each university I apply to separately or is it one cost for all universities through the OUAC 105?
Hi~ I’m just wondering, if you want to submit letters of recommendation, where do you put them in your OUAC application? Do you just submit them in the document section?
hi! unless explicitly stated in the program requirements, canadian universities generally do not require (or want) any letters of recommendation. however, if a specific program asks for them you'll most likely attach them in the university portal!
Hi Allie, thank you so much for your videos! I am currently in grade 10 hoping to study bio or health sci in the future. I took a few grade 11 courses like anthro in grade 10, and I'm not very proud of the mark I got :( Will these marks be sent to universities when I apply? Tysm!!!
hi! it depends on the university/program that you apply to. the majority in canada will only look at your grade 12 marks. even then, it'll be your 'top 6' marks including the requirements for the program so not all your grades will be evaluated
for chemistry i would say doing practice problems is the most important part! do all the homework that you're assigned as well as additional textbook problems (if you're still struggling) :)
This was very insightful and I enjoyed your video. Would you mind sharing how you created the spreadsheet to organize the different things for the universities?
I am in Grade11 and I have a few questions!! I was wondering if I were to take a higher-level course, would universities have a better chance of accepting me compared to a student who took a course that is academic?? For example, If I were to take SBI4U0 (AP Biology) next year, would universities have a higher chance of accepting me compared to a student who took SBI4U1 (Academic/Regular Biology)?? Or do only marks matter (along with the marks associated with the prerequisite course for programs)!! Another example would be if I were to get a 90s in AP Biology would that give me a higher chance of being accepted compared to a student that got 90s in Academic/Regular Biology? Should I only take AP courses if I am interested in taking the AP exam? I want to take AP courses since it would look nice on my transcript (which sounds stupid) if I got a high mark with it. But if universities don't look at if it is AP or an academic course then I wanna save myself from the stress and not take everything AP. I love your videos! You are such a great role model! Thank you so much :)
hi! they only look at marks :) however they might consider that you did AP/IB overall (not for a specific course though -honestly i'm not too sure about this since unis don't talk about it often), but marks matter most over enriched programs/ for the second question about AP exams, i think that you should only pursue them in subjects you're really interested in our that might be helpful for getting transfer credits! (also keep in mind this is only for ontario schools, so there may be a bigger benefit if you apply internationally) feel free to dm me on ig if you have any more questions xx
hi! i'm not too sure what you mean by this :o you can only start an application in grade 12, and if there is an activities section it will be in the individual university portals! feel free to dm me on ig if you have anymore questions
The guidance will send this stuff themselves, it’s not really up to you. You can email and ask your guidance if your school sends in first semester grade 12 midterm marks, if they do then your grade 11 marks won’t be as important, if they don’t then they will be the only visible marks up until around Feb.
Hi, Allie, I am Micaela. I am a Grade 12 student now and I wonder if the scores after mid-term not as important as the score before the mid-term? Cuz I am studying in a China-Canadian international school in China, and our courses are fixed, which means we cannot choose our courses. Besides, the courses that I study in the first semester of Grade 12 90s but do not reach the cut-off of the program of the uni which I want to go, and I am pretty sure that my scores will be better after the mid-term since I am better at the courses that I will take. Therefore, I really want to know that if my mid-year marks from Grade 12 are lower than the cut-off of the program, but marks after mid-term are, am I still have no chance to get in the program?
hii i'm not too sure, but if you do have grades coming out in feburary/march you should have a shot at admission! if your final grades don't get released until may/june though i don't know - you'll have to email the specific program you're interested in to check xx

yes for sure! although the tuition for international student sis quite high, many universities are very receptive to them and have many resources that help with the transition :)
damn did u get in
my son is Canadian but living abroad in UAE. Do you think it would be better to move back to Canada for university or last years of High school?. How many years before finishing high school would be ideal in your opinion?.
Hi! So basically the entire application (for the Ontario universities) is done through OUAC or do I have to submit something through each portal?
hey! ouac is only where you indicate which programs you apply to - if the program only looks at grades then you're set, but any supplementary info will be on individual university portals :)
Using the OUAC 105 application, do I need to pay for each university I apply to separately or is it one cost for all universities through the OUAC 105?
Hello, i want to apply for master of physiotherapy into mcmaster university. Could you please help what should i do?
Hi~
I’m just wondering, if you want to submit letters of recommendation, where do you put them in your OUAC application?
Can i eneter teh university with 3As level and 1 predicted As level?
Is pre calculus exam necessary for commerce course ?
It's this the same as the applications we have to do for college or it's different?
i think college applications are slightly different and use another booking software :)
@@AllieC thanks
If you did SBI4U & SCH4U, how did you get good grades in those classes?
for chemistry i would say doing practice problems is the most important part! do all the homework that you're assigned as well as additional textbook problems (if you're still struggling) :)
@@AllieC thank you!
This was very insightful and I enjoyed your video. Would you mind sharing how you created the spreadsheet to organize the different things for the universities?
Hello. Do I need to take SAT if I am an IB international student?
Should I fill out the activities section if I'm in high school?
hi! i'm not too sure what you mean by this :o you can only start an application in grade 12, and if there is an activities section it will be in the individual university portals! feel free to dm me on ig if you have anymore questions
Hey I have questions can you help me
can i ask guidance to use my 12th grade marks instead of 11th?
The guidance will send this stuff themselves, it’s not really up to you. You can email and ask your guidance if your school sends in first semester grade 12 midterm marks, if they do then your grade 11 marks won’t be as important, if they don’t then they will be the only visible marks up until around Feb.
So if my grade 11 marks are good enough. They won’t make any more offer for me??
Only for early acceptance. Still can get in through regular acceptance.
best 👍👍👍
if you're an ib student can you list that you have done IB
yes!
Do universities only look at your 6 highest marks? or is that some myth I been hearing LOOLL
highest 6 marks (but it has to include the required courses they listed for the program)
@@AllieC Thanks bae❤️
Great content and subscribed! Would love to hear what you think of our grad school channel. Thank you.
@@AllieC thank you :)
my american ass watching this cos applying to school abroad seems silly
hi! do I need to get an IB diploma if i am applying as an international student?
