At the beginning this fella said he builds a lot of aircraft models. I had to chuckle every time he called the hull a fuselage. This was an enjoyable video to watch, as well as seeing what Revell has to offer in the Ship/Sub category.
WOW! That's amazing! I'd love to see you do this same model and weathering method with the etched metal parts and upgrades you mentioned in this video...for comparison purposes. Great work!
Outstanding technique on the weathering. I do not own an airbrush, but I believe I could replicate this without one. I too built this kit for practice. I have a Bandai Millenium Falcon build coming up. Lots of weathering! Thank you.
Magnifico trabajo, debo de decir que de los muchos videos que he visto este es el que tiene el mayor realismo. Muchas gracias por compartir tus conocimientos.
A very nicely done video! I'm about to build one of these, and this has been helpful. Your filming, voice recording ,and choice of Brian Eno type music make this very relaxing
Que hermoso modelo. Realmente la cuestion son aqui los pequeños detalles, el arreglo de las barandas, el arreglo de las armas y el pulido. Lo que es los efectos ambientales es otro nivel. Saludos desde Colombia.
Love love love. I studied this video hard to see how you were doing weathering, and each step it looks better and better. I can't believe you built a whole submarine model just to practice for other models, inspiring!
Dear Mr Scale, The reversed weathering process creates the effect of wear in a very convincing manner. I note the shading on some of the panels also which adds to the depth of the piece. Pretty damned good finish!! Regards, Z
The molds are worn out as the model has been in production for over 40 years that I know of, it was released as the U505 originally. Still a nice kit just an update on the box to give it a different look.
Great build video, where you actually SHOW how you build/paint. I have learned a LOT from these videos. Thank you for also showing the exact paints and mix ratios you used. But, what PSI do you spray at? What model airbrush? What size tip?
Thank you for your kind comment. Actually I share that details when they are necessary or important at that stage. You can assume always I use 8 PSI and 0.4 H&S Nozzle, when post shading; 0.2 and 5 to 10 PSI
nice, instead of the pastels could you use just oil paints thinned with spirits / turpenoid or what is the benefit of the pastel powder / lighter fluid mix?
Beautiful! I have the same kit and I will use some of your amazing techniques! Congrats! Questions: what gauge is the copper wire? I cannot find any metal guns for the u-boat, any recommendations? Many thanks
A bit too much rust, but over all great job. I've noticed a lot of people add too much rust effect. Were ships really that rusty back then?! I like how you made wavy flag effect. Will use that. I just purchased Revell Flower class corvette 1/144 aka ''Snowberry''. Last time I did this was in mid 90's when I was a kid. Almost 30 years later I will try it again. My hands are literally shaking from excitement and concern of failure(Painting). I almost feel like a kid again 😁
Excellent workmanship ! Could you tell me the name of the company that makes that orange handle saw that you were using. Looks like a handy tool to add to my collection 😊
I would like to combine this kit in a diorama with Revell AG's 1:144th-scale kit of the Fletcher-class U.S. Navy Destroyer, the latter depth charging the former.
Just a piece of plastic? No, it is not a toy, ladies and gentlemen, mostly gentlemen :D I am absolutely inspired with the way you did weathering effects. Although you steal my idea using wine cap for paint, but... crazy people think the same :D BTW, why don't you take paint directly out of Tamiya panel liner can? Did you spill it off? :)
incredible work! I have an idea to make a decoration for an aquarium with a submarine, print it on a 3D printer or use a ready-made model like this... So I have a stupid question about painting, will these paints dissolve in water? And are they toxic? Has anyone had this experience?
"Fuselage"... gave me a chuckle every time! I love you, man!
It's impressive how you managed to give it 'weight' with all the colour nuances. Excellent work.
WOW thats craftsmanship, the models physical appearance is astounding. Damn now I feel an urge to rewatch Das Boot again.

It’s amazing how a little detail like replacing the ladder makes a kit that much better looking. Nicely, done friend!
Yes, I agree!
The self-control to not replace that railing! Another fantastic build - really like the explanation of your painting method.
The best. That is what i was looking for. Alu foil for the flag. Now i have to find 1/144 svastika for it.
Excellent work. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic video and the finished model looked brilliant 👍
Excellent finish and weathering!
Amazing weathering job! there is always something to learn. I look forward to the next one
Amazing paint work, extremely realistic, Thank you.

Marvelous job. Best of all, I have one of these in my stash and watching your build gives me ideas how to tackle mine. Wonderful job.
Fantastic build.
Next time, weather the propeller blade, as well. Bronze changes colour very fast, in seawater.
Looks awesome. Love when you narrate through the process. Very calming.

i just read Das Boot on the title and you sir got my instant LIKE!!
That is great work. Imagination and attention to detail. Thank you
Awesome Job my friend.
Thank you Dawid! Cheers my friend!
Lovely finish. Great run through of the build. Really enjoyed watching. Thanks 😉
Thank you from Maine USA.

*Great result on the paint, a lot of work to do but the result is amazing!*
Congratulations. It's a very interesting approach of weathering, I'll try it. Thank you!
Again, a really great looking model. Very good job
Nice weathering work!👍👍
Beautiful outcome!

nice vid, I watch a lot of model videos but this was my first submarine. Love the music too.
I learned a lot! I’m going to use this on my 1/35 Border kit.
Wow that looks amazing
beautiful job can't wait to see your next build.....

Hi, just bought this and the molds very good, no flash very clean so not sure if they have now re made them. Very good video out the box, thanks mate.
Amazing work ❤
Great work 😊 👏
😊that's beautiful work looks incredible!!!
👍👍👍👍amazing work!
That's awesome man.
Nice to see Your great weathering skills again. All the best for You! ;)
Amazing work as usual! I don’t normally build ships or subs but you make me want to..we’ll done
Looks cool. 👍 Thank you for sharing.
Outstanding
Beautiful build! 👍👍

Just a kind remark:
When we talk about ships, we do not talk about the "fuselage".
We talk about the "hull".
😉
TRUMPETER realesed new tool of this boat in same 1/144 scale. Less troubles.
Fantástico trabajo!!
Daumen hoch klasse super ✨️💯👍

Alaaaaarrrm!!!!
Maravilhoso...como sempre !! Parabéns meu amigo !! sigo anciosamente seus trabalhos !! Abraços !!

what it the brand for the dissolved putty. I have never seen it before.
It's Mr. Dissolved Putty (yes a silly name) a Gunze/Hasegawa product and a life saver.
A bit too much rust, but over all great job. I've noticed a lot of people add too much rust effect. Were ships really that rusty back then?!

Looks great, but the propellers are mounted backwards. Switch left to right, right to left.
Is this a good kit for a beginner model maker?
What did you stick the flag to the pole with ?
I've always wondered what kind of magic is in that pot with the green lid. He seems to be able to apply if after two pieces are joined?
That would be Tamiya extra thin styrene cement. It’s so thin that it flows into the joint through capillary action.
Du Penner du bist wirklich verdamme gut😂Lovely❤
I see many of english languaged comments.greetings from good ol' germany
very good i am like 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great weathering. Can you tell me what zippo fluid is, please?
It's lighter fluid
Yes it's a lighter fluid.
Do you ever sell your finished models?
Excellent workmanship !
Could you tell me the name of the company that makes that orange handle saw that you were using. Looks like a handy tool to add to my collection 😊
Thank you for your comment! It's Xuron cutter but I can't remember which one 410 maybe.
What is the tool you are using at 7:17 for bending the copper wire ladder rungs?
it's a nail polish. Any sanding stick would be ok
What air brush did you use ?
I would like to combine this kit in a diorama with Revell AG's 1:144th-scale kit of the Fletcher-class U.S. Navy Destroyer, the latter depth charging the former.
I would rather build the uboat torpedoing the destroyer, but that is just me. 😅
Do you know where replacement gun barrels are sold for this model?
Where are you writing from?
@@enzoroma14 I’m in England

Is there a symbol missing from that flapping flag?
Yes, thats how we discover nazi lovers in the comments. There is always at least one.
Probably illegal in Europe
Revell is a German Company and that sign is not allowed in Europe. That's why it's missing on the flag.
@@Scaleaton I guess the Buddhists are in trouble then.
I have built it
The ship dont have a fuselage it's called the hull
