    Gulp is definitely harder, I think people who are more familiar with the original will recognize it easier. The issue is that, his tracking is spot on, even when charging. The fight is actually easier if you don't dash and just dodge things slowly. (even when he's chasing you, just walk and then dash when he's in the air).
    I'm not sure if its intentional or just how it's been programmed but Gulp basically calculates your current speed and his attacks reflect that. No matter how fast you run, his attacks are gonna track you like homing missiles, which wasn't really the case with the original.

    • @SquareEyedJak
      @SquareEyedJak  6 лет назад +36

      Ok that definitely reflects my experience. It is a shame, hopefully they can fix that with a patch. I honestly don't mind the added challenge but how it is right now, it comes out of nowhere and disappears straight after. Had the game gradually built up to it, I wouldn't have minded as much.

    This trilogy was everything I wanted it to be and more. I played it solidly for 3 days and loved every minute. I didn't experience any glitches in Spyro 3 in my first play through, it's only now that I'm on my second playthrough I'm noticing a couple, but they are extremely rare for me. The only major gripe I have with this game is that once you activate the permanent Superflame in Spyro 2, it carries across to all save files for spyro 2 and there is no way to disable it. I hope they patch that soon, just make it a toggle option.

    • @PassionPossum
      @PassionPossum 6 лет назад +5

      I actually experienced more bugs in spyro 2. Like in Crystal Glacier, there's a mini game for a gem where you have to kill 18 bugs (ironically), but I was puzzled because I did it at least 4 times to realize that one of the bugs was impossible to reach because it was glitched into the sky.
      Nothing in 3, that I could see, and that's the game I'm most familiar with and played multiple times over. I'm bias, it's my favorite of the trilogy.

    • @Vaguer_Weevil
      @Vaguer_Weevil 6 лет назад +3

      I didn't encounter any bugs in any of the games but the rocket skateboard was more of a nightmare than in the original, especially in the bonus race at the Sorceress's lair, Spyro kept hitting corners of a ramp and would either bounce into the abyss or get knocked off the board, sometimes he'd evem jump off a ramp like it was a half pipe..
      I also feel like the hitbox for landing stunts was a bit off, even if I weren't doing a stunt I would get knocked off. Had to restart those races sooo many times I was going Nsane.

      @@antitoast7512 Different version of each game have different oddities. For example, depending on what version of the original Spyro 3 you get, the music for the final boss (which is supposed to be all gloomy and epic) glitches out and it ends up playing the cheerful theme of the very first homeworld (Summer Forest) instead. For Spyro 2, one of the versions (can't remember which) allows you to do a sort of glitched "double jump" rather easily, which breaks many of the challenges of the game in half and lets you cut corners like crazy (that glitch is a speedrunners wet dream). There are a couple different little details like that which vary between versions for each game.

    As someone who's played my original copies of the original three Spyro games for 20 years now. I can honestly say it was everything I could've ever wanted and more. My only gripes with the game, which are extremely minor, is the lack of a slider for stick sensitivity and especially motion blur. But these things honestly stopped being an issue after the first few hours.
    I'm happy you enjoyed it too!

      My biggest gripe with the game is that I can't change it to bumper controls for the camera(I know, I'm insane for wanting it, but that's how I like it.) So I just play with mouse and keyboard.

      spyro 3 is a huge grey area for the spyro community. while the number of people who enjoy spyro 3 is relatively higher than the people who dislike it ( around maybe 60/40 or so), the rankings are usually neck-and-neck. it very, very much depends on who you ask. While some fans seem to fight each other over the game, doesn't seem to be many who outright hate it though.

    • @JayfroC
      @JayfroC 6 лет назад +1

      The original Spyro is the hated one, not Year of the Dragon. Year of the Dragon is the middle ground due to the sheer number of minigames and secondary characters that don't make use of the core platforming mechanics. Ripto's Rage also has that, but it strikes a better balance.

    As someone who loves Spyro 3 the most out of the original trilogy, even I can admit that some things control in a rather clunky way. Nothing I found too awful or hard to adjust to, but noticeable.
    For that reason, I was excited for your review of this trilogy. Not only do I respect your review style (because I can tell you’ll give your own opinion not influenced at all by the popular opinion or anything like that) but I personally felt the characters all controlled better and I was hoping you’d agree.
    Needless to say, I got a bit worried when you dropped the original Spyro 3 down to 6/10, but in all honesty that made your jump to 8/10 at the end even better! I’m honestly overjoyed to see you enjoyed it as much as I did. I certainly had issues like Bentley’s whack-a-mole segment ending up worse-off with the new camera, but nothing that ruined my experience at all.
    I enjoy every one of your videos is basically what I’m trying to say, hahaha! Keep it up!

    It's been a blast playing this trilogy. Spyro 1 will always be my personal favorite because that is the one I grew up with, not playing 2 and 3 until years later. Playing through the game and changing the music to the original every now and then was simply amazing. The worlds, man the amount of detail, I was so happy to see how beast makers is not pitch black anymore! Although it does kind of remove that eerie feeling but its fine. I gotta feeling we will see a PC/Switch port, as well as a new classic style game. Let's hope for the best!

    Gulp definitely seemed harder here than the original, I've noticed that when he does his Jump attack it looks like Gulp has a fairly large amount of forward momentum during the jump (whereas in the original I think he stayed in place or he just hardly had any forward momentum) which is probably why people get so caught in that attack. Charging directly under him while he jumps seems to be a good method of dodging that attack however. I'm currently trying to get the skill point (perfect run) for the boss fight and oof it's been a bit tough to say the least.

  • @FIRE8IRD780

    Great video, I highly disagree with the reduction for Spyro 3 original. In your video 3 years ago you complained about the skateboarding. It is meant for anyone not a tony hawk pro to pick it up and and play. The characters are more of a side gimmick. For about 80% of the game you play as Spyro. And Spyro in sky landers is a purple pug with wings because of how pushed in his face is like a pug.

    • @SquareEyedJak
      @SquareEyedJak  6 лет назад +4

      No, I complained about more than just the skateboarding and there is nothing really "side" about the extra characters. You can not pass the game without them. My biggest issue with 3 is that all the extra characters and vehicles leaves SO MANY control schemes to be unpolished and in some cases, almost unplayable.
      6/10 for the original is still a good score, just means there are some problems that need ironing out and much to my surprise, Reignited did a pretty wicked job at fixing things.

    • @cookiesontoast9981
      @cookiesontoast9981 6 лет назад +2

      Well... i do agree that Jak is more complaining about controls of things in Spyro 3 when i have never had any issues with them but i get where he's coming from, haven't got to Spyro 3 yet in Reignited but i already knew from the start that of course many mini games/other characters would control better.
      I'm very conflicted with Reignited, there's many things i love but there's even more that i'm disappointed with, especially Twilight Harbor in Spyro 1....... holy shit what the hell where they thinking!?!? the level is ruined.

    • @SquareEyedJak
      @SquareEyedJak  6 лет назад +2

      No, the level isn't ruined at all. It's 2 visual changes, means fuck all compared to everything else.
      Also my other big issue with 3 is how it totally made the formula a boring, repetitive formula. It's so formulaic how things are unlocked with the extra characters.

    *You already have spyro 1 fully to boot*
    i'm sure most people have decent providers and once you finshed spyro 1, The patch is completed if not... waste more time like 100%ing it or beat skill challanges until it's done... again it's not really that big of an issue

      If you want an indicator as to how big of an issue it could be to someone, I wanted to get the trilogy after seeing this review, then was immediately put off when I heard that the download was going to be 40+ gigs. That's about 10 days' worth of downloading non-stop for me.

      @@Remls Yeah very true.
      Wasn't an issue for me because I had a decent connection it was done in 5 hours roughly, nothing having my dinner and doing other stuff couldn't fix. However, this is bad practice, if I had the same quality connection as I did in my old house, well let's just say I would be still sat here waiting for damn thing to download after buying the "game" on 13th November and we're 9 days later, fun game right guys. I sort of understand why they did it (due to size), but at the same time, two discs would've solved it easily especially the dual-layered ones 100GB in total for what essentially was 67.5 GB of data. So sorry for the Xbox One guys who had to download the entire thing rather than 2 and 3, what happened? My copy only required 19GB to be patched in, but Xbox One I saw people complaining that it had 300MB on disc and the rest of the 40+ GB to be downloaded, what a dick move, Activision! It's even more of a dick move for releasing THPS 5 when the IP licence was expiring so that all the content had to be pulled and now the game is now a coaster for your drink, thanks Activision, cunts!
      I can't stand the fuckwits that say "well get a better internet", sure ok wanna pay their increased tariffs for them to do this too while you're insulting people? No? I didn't think so. I won't be surprised if the next gen will require more of this.

      Online required to unlock the game. On the notes for Update History on PS4 it says in black and white v1.01: unlocks all content, WHAT THE FUCK?! Of course the player owns the game, but they need to download the data in order to play the damn thing wow that's just honestly the stupidest thing I've ever seen from a physical copy.
      "Get better internet" that's like telling the soldiers who risk their lives for their country to be told "fuck all of you".
      Coming from a poor family and have poor to no internet? "Fuck you".
      I wish this idiots use their head meat and realise there are still some without good internet and I know of some who haven't got that luxury.
      "Well they shouldn't have consoles then if they're poor", shut up, ugh owning a console with bootable games off a disc is not blooming difficult, it's the console developers that impose these patches that allow for games to be pushed out of the door half baked and still raw in the middle. Two discs would've solved the whole patch issue, all would be required would be downloading of the installation and you're good to go.
      "But that would double our cost for printing the games", you wanted the game to please everyone, right? You wanted the love and care of a 10 week delay to reach so many people well how is imposing a 19-40+ GB patch requiring decent internet supposed to achieve that, huh? Fuck me I would've taken the hit myself if I was the decision maker at Activision, it's not like you don't have sheep following your company anytime you drop a generic CoD every fucking year, but printing two discs for each copy of Reignited Trilogy? Nah too expensive. How many people would boycott this game and decide fuck you Activision? *shrugs* If you played the physical card and put it on 2 discs I would've given you a standing ovation, now you get rotten fruit and displeasure.
      It's console gaming, not digital only gaming. Choose one or the other. If you release it on digital only, fair enough you lock out an entire generation to do so, very risky in terms of sales, but all power to you. However, if you blur the lines between the two then you start pissing me off with this. The only series I support doing this digital only are the Oddworld games because they're a relatively small developer. Don't blur the lines and make physical copies a redundant thing, it's dishonest and really stupid. I only bought it because I haven't bought a Spyro game in 11 years (2007 when buying Spyro YoTD).
      Sometimes the internet drops out and if that happens, guess what, 2 and 3 are locked out even after doing Spyro 1, (well if you were downloading the patch anyway). Stop pretending everyone on the planet always has a decent internet connection, they don't! Stop pandering to the publishers who decide it's ok to impose massive patches to "unlock all content". I'm shocked Square Eyed never bought it up though. Maybe this was because everyone else who reviewed it has already said it, like he mentioned from his EtD deleted bits video he took out his comment that it was rushed etc. from the review because it didn't add anything. Perhaps this is what happened here. However, surely it would've got on his nerves to sit there on Spyro 1 and wait for the mammoth patch to complete and it was the lowest scored of the Reignited Trilogy to boot before he could play through 2 and 3 to review the entire thing. Rant over

      @@ObsoleteMule About sums up my side of the story lol
      I would've picked up both RDR2 and Spyro, but the only thing keeping me from doing so is the literal weeks I'd have to spend with shit internet speeds for whatever else I do, just so I can eventually get to play.
      I already stay well away from any multiplayer phenomena like Overwatch or Fortnite, not because I don't want to play, but because I know my connection is going to be too shit to have any fun.
      So forgive me if I want everything I already paid for to be present on disc when I receive it. Day-one patches are fine (and actually welcome, considering it can contain fixes/enhancements); an entire ⅔ of the promised content is where I _might_ start to draw a line ...

    • @ObsoleteMule
      @ObsoleteMule 6 лет назад +1

      @DeltaGem Oh yeah, forgot about that, they aren't stupid enough to pull 2 and 3 off the server are they? I hope that the disc at least has code to trigger a download from somewhere, I hope my external hard-drive doesn't die on me too fast otherwise I'll be screwed in the future with this game. I know people are complaining and I don't disagree with them either they should have all the games on the disc that's the point of a physical copy. If it was 67.5GB like a gaming website said then have it on two discs. Keep the two versions away from each other otherwise it taints it when the servers are shut down. TFB needed to argue that case with Activision, but oh well, I just completed Spyro 1, 120%, it was a rocking good time. However, I do feel a little guilty for being able to enjoy 2 and 3 while some won't be able to or having long download times in order to play the rest of the trilogy.

      I wouldn't mind that either, especially for Year of the Dragon; Bentley and Agent 9 deserve levels that aren't just short mini-games, and they should put their abilities to full use. Now, if I remember correctly, Bentley never has to use that spinning deflect move of his outside his own home level, so there's definitely some potential for levels based upon that.

    Superb work, Jak. I've 100% completed the original StD out of the Reignited Trilogy so far, and I gotta say that it's a rush seeing my childhood favorites being brought back and given such loving treatment. I can only imagine how hard my younger self would have orgasmed upon witnessing what they've done. The animation, the environments, the soundtrack, they're all so amazingly crafted. On one or two occasions, I've just stopped and let the soundtrack go to that dreamlike "stillness" mode, and just looked around at the environments that I used to dream about as a child brought to life. I'm so pleased with this remake so far.
    Although I did find the censored stuff pretty distracting. Not just because paintball guns are not quite as awesome as machine guns, but because it's rather inconsistent. Some enemies in Spyro 1 are allowed to use cannons and muskets, but the machine guns are out of the question? But the guys with rifles in scorch are also censored. Didn't they pretty much use muskets too? So muskets before are okay, but now they're bad? Why not crossbows or something at least? And the renaming of the Bombo dude just strikes me as a reach. So I guess they're worried that the guy on a flying carpet shooting glowing laser balls at you can be misinterpreted as a metaphor for Middle Eastern terrorists or something just because he has "bomb" in his name? But Agent 9 blasting people in the face in third-person shooter violence is okay? As is getting straight up prison shanked by wicked looking knives and spears?
    It just bugged me, as I don't think there's any need to worry about what constitutes as "too violent" in Spyro the Dragon. I mean what kid hasn't seen a machine gun before? The Marvel movies, massively marketed towards kids, feature several main characters who have not only used guns, but have killed with guns. Fortnite is the hottest thing for kids to play right now, and it's a friggin homicidal rampage. My point is that there just isn't much need to alter details like that for a Spyro game when, in comparison to its competition, Spyro is and has always been much more family-friendly.

    I had so much fun during this remake, I was saying myself that it was the definitive way to experience the trilogy, I personally didn't have the same enjoyment with the soundtrack during my play through, mostly because I couldn't really hear it, I had to turn the sound fx down to like 5 or 6 to hear it pretty clearly, i grew up with these games and replayed them countless times, so seeing them remade so masterfully like this, makes me happy, I'm gonna have to do a second play through of these games...

    This is gonna sound off topic, but I was thinking that they should make a legit free roaming Crash game. Let's be honest with ourselves, Twinsanity felt linear, Tag Team Racing had small levels, and Mind Over Mutant had a fixed camera. Anyway, in this Crash game you earn crystals by completing missions (kinda like in classic Spyro and Mario 64/Sunshine). Don't worry, gems and relics will exist in my idea. Gems are earned the same way, except you have explore the level and smash every box. Relics have a bit more variety, there are some relics that have you race against the clock from Point A to B (just like in the PS1 Crash games) and there are some that have you collecting items or defeating enemies in a certain time limit.
    I also think this Crash game needs a new gimmick. I was thinking that the developers should give Aku Aku a big role. Like I was thinking that they should give Aku Aku different types of powers and in order to get these powers, the player must break a special type of Aku Aku box with a picture of what ever power he'll grant Crash. For example, if Crash wants to use him as a hammer, the box will have a picture of Aku Aku and a hammer. The following Aku Aku powers I was thinking of are: Sledge hammer, skateboard, scuba diving gear, making platforms (kinda like Cloud Mario from Galaxy 2), boomerang, bazooka, sub zero spin (allows Crash to freeze enemies with his spin attack), and power slide (allows Crash to slide a longer distance, kinda like the super slide in N Tranced, except his slide attack leaves a fire trail). All these powers are temporary (so that it doesn't make Crash OP or the game too easy) and they will be useful in certain missions. Also I feel like they should make Aku Aku a playable character and have his own levels where Crash can't access them. I mean why not, like every videogame protagonist has their sidekick as a playable character: Luigi, Sparx, Kazooie, Tails, Daxter, Clank, etc.
    Oh I almost forgot, the plot. I feel like it should be a throwback to Crash Warped. I haven't gone too in depth with the story but I believe it should have something to do with time travel. I love Warped as much as everyone else, but I would really loved to explore these time periods as Crash.
    As for the bosses, I think there should be more than 5. This is my order:
    1) Papu Papu: Present day
    2) Tiny: Prehistoric Era
    3) Dingodile: American Revolution Era
    4) N-Gin: Pirate Era
    5) Ripper Roo: Old West/Cowboy era
    7) Koala Kong: Ancient Rome Era
    8) Komodo Bros: Feudal Japanese Era
    9) Nina: Midevil Era
    10) N-Brio: World War 2 Era
    11) N-Tropy: Present day
    12) Cortex and Uka Uka: The distant future
    All bosses (exept for Papu Papu and N-Tropy) will wear clothing based off of the time period their in. (Kinda like how in Super Mario Odyssey, everyone including bosses wears hats). As for the Cortex boss fight, he will obtain an Aku Aku box that gives Uka Uka the powers you obtained throughout the game and use them against you (kinda like in Super Mario 3D World where Bowser uses the kitty power up against you). Speaking of hats, that's another thing, Crash should also be able to unlock outfits from the time period he's in. Like if he's in the American Revolution era, his outfit will consist of a gray wig and a blue Colonist uniform. Or if he's in the Ancient Rome era, he will wear a toga, or if he's in the World War 2 era, then he will wear a US soldier uniform. Outfits can be unlocked by collecting voodoo dolls (similar to the ones seen in Titans and Mind Over Mutant), completing a certain portion of the game, or as DLC. Here are the following outfits:
    -Default Crash (Crash's iconic look, shirtless, fingerless gloves, and blue jeans)
    -Crash Bandistone (Collect 10 cavemen voodoo dolls in the Prehistoric Era)
    -Colonial Crash (Collect 10 colonist voodoo dolls in the American Revolution Era)
    -Captain Orange Beard (Collect 10 pirate voodoo dolls in the Pirate Era)
    -Marshall Bandicoot (Collect 10 deputy voodoo dolls in the Old West Era)
    -Crashius Bandicootus (Collect 10 toga voodoo dolls in the Ancient Rome Era)
    -This is BANDICOOT!!! (Collect 15 gladiator voodoo dolls in the Ancient Rome Era)
    -Crash Bandiku (Collect 10 ninja voodoo dolls in the Feudal Japanese Era)
    -Sir Crash-A-Lot (Collect 10 knight voodoo dolls in the Midevil Era)
    -King Crash (Collect 15 king voodoo dolls in the Midevil Era)
    -Sgt. Bandicoot (Collect 10 soldier voodoo dolls in the WW2 Era)
    -Crash Bandi-Bot (Collect 10 robot voodoo dolls in the Distant Future)
    -Crashazoid (Collect 15 alien voodoo dolls in the Distant Future)
    -Fake Crash skin (Find every location where Fake Crash is hiding [It's similar to finding him in the N Sane Trilogy])
    -Evil Crash skin (Collect 20 Evil Crash voodoo dolls in N Sanity Island)
    -Spyro skin (Collect 50 Spyro Voodoo dolls throughout the game)

    -N-Brio skin (Defeat N-Brio without taking damage)
    -N-Tropy skin (Defeat N-Tropy without taking damage)
    -Cortex Skin (Defeat Cortex without taking damage)
    -Aku Aku skin (Complete all Aku Aku levels)
    -Uka Uka skin (Collect all gems and earn all platinum relics)
    -Coco skin (Complete all of Coco's missions)
    -Crunch skin (Complete all of Crunch's missions)
    -Platinum Crash (Earn platinum twice in every time trial)
    -Angel Crash (Die 1000 times)
    -Officer Crash ( [police uniform] DLC)
    -Agent Crash 007 (DLC)
    -Hippie Crash (DLC)
    -Gangsta Crash (DLC)
    -Biker Crash ( [from the motorcycle races from Crash Warped] DLC)
    -Jet Pack Crash (DLC)
    -Ripto skin (DLC)
    -Gnasty Gnorc skin (DLC)
    -Evil Twins skin (DLC)
    -Luxury Crash ( [millionaire suit] DLC)
    I did mention free roaming, so I feel like N Sanity Island should be the main hub world and there will be portals scattered throughout the island to send you to a certain time period. The layout of the island should be similar to what we've seen in Twinsanity, but bigger with massive landscapes and mountain peaks to explore. Some time portals cannot be accessed until you earn enough power crystals. Other portals will be out of reach until you unlocked one of Aku Aku's power up crates; For example, if a portal is inside a huge boulder, then you'll need the Aku Aku hammer to break the boulder and gain access; Or if the portal is underwater, then you'll need the Aku Aku scubba diving gear. Another thing, Crash's house will be accessible to the player. This was something that wasn't featured in Twinsanity, but was featured in Mind Over Mutant. The player can check their game progress, watch the cutscenes, view leader boards, concept art, and change outfits.
    Another thing I would love to see is Crash reacting to the weather. I know we've seen Crash shiver in the N Sane Trilogy, but how about having Crash react to a hot, rainy, and windy environment as his idle animations; maybe even have Aku Aku react too, like have him click his teeth when it's cold or better yet, Crash uses him as a fan when it's hot. I mean we've seen Mario react to the weather in Super Mario Odyssey (depending on the level and what outfit you equip him). This feature isn't anything major, but it would be nice to see in the Bandicoot franchise.
    Now just because I say all of this, does not mean that I want my idea to be the next Crash of the Titans. Don't worry, Crash will still have Aku Aku as his health indicator and invincibility; and his classic spin, slide, and body slam, I'm just trying to give yall an idea that's similar to the classics, but at the same time giving yall an idea that could rival Super Mario Odyssey in terms of gameplay. After all, Crash needs a MAJOR comeback besides the Skylandars Imaginators and the N Sane Trilogy.
    Just saying.
    As for the title of the game, I think it should be called Crash Bandicoot: Masks Against Time. You know, because it focuses on time travel and Aku Aku having super powers

    Kind of funny, this remake actually reversed my love for each game compared to the PS1. On PS1 it was 2 > 1 > 3, now it's 3 > 1 > 2 in the remake. Well at least for first playthrough impression anyway, 3 still does have some of my most hated levels and 2 some of my favorites. Also it is funny how Agent 9 went from one of the worst things ever to a blast, what a difference modern shooter controls vs. PS1 shooter controls makes.
    I was doing pretty good when it came to glitches, until the end. Spyro 1 was a smooth experience, 2 was mostly good except for 1 had to redo a level glitch where the trolls you have to freeze in a certain level glitched out, but 3, during the last world of 3 I got a bunch, biggest being a frame pacing bug, that made the frame pacing issues of the collection become permanently active until I exited to the main menu, and even a crash.
    Gulp also caught me off guard as well. Took me several tries to get his tracking figured out and how to deal with it. Glad a previous comment went into detail about it.

    Spyro 2 is the most nostalgic game fof me, but objectively, spyro 3 is the better game.

    Fuck yeah! My dingle is in full tingle after watching this! (what this essentially means is that love this channel, this video game series, and this video).

      Also I agree with you on the fact that these channels that cash grab produce shallow, meaningless and crappy content. I don't understand why they just can't produce good, creative content (you know, actually honouring the games they supposedly love instead of capitalising off of them without putting in the effort they deserve)! Thank god you're here to show these scrubs how do this excellent trilogy justice!

      Thanks mate, it really does my head in. Saw a video recently from "such a die hard Spyro fan" decked out in Spyro clothes in a room FULL... literally FULL of Spyro shit who did a retrospective over the entire series, completely failing to mention any of the GBA titles aside from Orange/Fusion. A true Spyro fan, failing to mention the best "post Insomniac" Spyro games... no thanks!

    What would you judge the disc game before the patches?

      @DeltaGem then Activision should've delayed the game until summer of 2019 but unfortunately due to their annual set ups, they did not

    • @nickytembo4112

      DeltaGem so do you hope that activision gives TFB enough time to finish the new spyro game?

    • @nickytembo4112
      @nickytembo4112 5 лет назад

      DeltaGem and are you worried that activision might make the new spyro game bad?

    • @nickytembo4112
      @nickytembo4112 5 лет назад

      DeltaGem but hopefully Maybe TFB might make a DLC to fix these problems during the release of the Nintendo switch and PC versions (hopefully)

    18:30 yo just letting you know that the change in weaponry wasn't to be more child friendly, but actually an aesthetic choice to make it overall more fun, playful and colourful, which the artists felt better suited the fantasy world of spyro. Which I agree with, seeing semi realistic guns would've been so jarring and out of place 😂😂 I think they got away with it in the original games bcs the graphics helped integrate them lol but I do prefer this change, it's nicer to look at.
    That's also why the bombs and barrels were kept: they're cartoony enough that they fit in haha
