YOU DIDNT MENTION THE BIGGEST CRIME OF ALL. In the third game one of the dragon eggs that hatches is called Ba’ah and in the original trilogy he spawned in a sheep costume and it was cute af, in the remake he just has a generic hatching animation. I WAS HEARTBROKEN. That was one of my favourite details!
DISAGREED!! The underwater egg in the cowboy dinos level (name escapes me). You break the wall, it was adorable, it had a dummy (pacifier) and it just looked at you while being super cute and I loved that baby more than I love the actual living children in my own family and they gave us A CHUBBY CRYING THING THAT WIPES ITS SNOT! NO!
@Kasper Sveinsson He didn't floss in the original, the hands moved back and forth in front of his torso only. Like more of an old timey happy dance or something idk the term for it
A few things I didn't like about the new trilogy: 1: When flying, Spyro's flap is smaller and less useful. 2: Epilogues are replaced with concept art. 3. The fight with Bluto. He was so much faster in the original, now he's a slug. 4. Completely agree with Caddy about the voice acting, especially where the second game is concerned, but even more than that I miss the original sound effects! The chanting of the monks in Colossus, the mooing of the cowlicks in Zephyr, Gulp's bellowing during his boss battle. 5. The credits. In the originals, you were taken on a tour of the game, with golden letters coming together and then exploding in the middle of the screen. In the new game, we get few cute pictures before being subjected to the same boring vertical scrawl that every other game does. On a more positive note, I absolutely adore the way Shelia was glaring at Moneybags while waiting to be rescued.
My problems with the voice acting and sound design started right at the beginning, Artisans' Homeworld. The gnorcs don't go WAAAGCK like a toad that's smoked two packs a day for ten years anymore, and that's a crying shame. It's just as Caddy said, a lot of the quirky, cartoonish charm of the originals were lost in the push towards these modern standards. I still love the reignited trilogy, but it's not the one I'll use to introduce my GF to the series I love so much. The original just can't be topped for spirit.
I know this is so late lol but if by your first point you mean the hover, that's just plain wrong! I played Year of the Dragon original and remake back to back (since it's my favourite) and the hover is much improved. I assume to compensate for the glide which for whatever reason travels less far.
@@AdvancePlays They were talking about the flight mechanics, as in the obstacle course stages and flight powerups. Pressing X while in full flight causes Spyro to flap, sending him slightly upwards without altering his course or slowing down. This was much more dramatic in the original games, where it could be used in certain cases to make fine adjustments or last moment saves. In the remade version, this feature is pretty much useless, taking an already niche ability and turning it into a mere vestige.
@@slothz5063 I'm assuming it's for stability. Reloading the level puts it into a know state. Depending on how they wrote it, it may have also been more work to make a routine that respawns collected stuff.
A minor gripe for me was how similar the unbreakable chests look to the normal metal ones (which can be broken by charging). Why not just make them gold or some other distinctly different color?
Nah I'm with you on that one. I wandered around the whole level looking for fireworks or a charger, only to realise I could just run through them like normal.
@@619Gotenks that's why you just attempt to run through them all. If one doesn't break, just find a firework or a key or whatever is there to break it. In the dark passage level in dream weavers home world, you don't even need to get the firework to break the metal chest there. You can use the turtle's fireball to break it. So really the fact that the chests look similar is no problem for me.
@@infinitedeath1384 yeah I get the concept man, I used to play the old ones when I was a kid and never had this issue. Sometimes the game glitches and you do genuinely just bounce right off.
I was extremely disappointed when the cowleks in zephyr didnt shriek amusingly when I roasted/butted them. Sound effects go a long way in increasing comedic effect.
Anyone else miss the adorable "Meow" from George after you finish the mission? In the original he would sit there, purr and meow periodically and it melted my heart. In reignited he just sits there... Also Farley the Wolf doesn't bark nearly as much either and it made me sad. :C
Actually I recently played that level and he still purs and does kinda meow when you feed him fish he doesn't give his goodbye meow or purs once the task is over but he's still kind of adorable
I enjoyed playing through the Reignited but there's a few things I didn’t like: - Generic menus (no title screen with animated characters, or animated Guidebook) - No fly-through of all levels during credits - First game still has lame boss fights - Removal of guns from Twilight Harbor (they made the level iconic for me) - Some glitches (One time a NPC got stuck during a quest, so I couldn't progress) - Awful physics and controls in the skateboard & hoverboard races - Baby dragons look weird and have very few variations - The remastered music felt weak, but there was an option to switch to the original, so no complaints there
@@aoife08619 Ohmy GOD, I SAME, it was just all god damned Splatoon, and I died SO many times there :O But I also LAUGHED loudly when I saw they had changed it.
One thing I greatly disliked was how the gem counter at the end of a level in the first game (only one I’ve played to date) is just a simple counter now. Seeing all the gems you picked up fly around the screen and into a treasure chest at the bottom was a nice touch. Now, it just feels like a soulless experience.
yeah same, i frankly found the original voices to be grating at places. Though i can agree on hunter somewhat. Though i guess i am too modern for some folks, as the original voice just sounded like complete pillocks
@@pifilixxiv3192 i think it really just depends on age and whether or not you've played the originals. I grew up with the OG trilogy so the graphics and voices have a unique charm to me while the modern equivalents feel basic and pandering
Same. I never played the original and am playing through Reignited now and I prefer the voices in the remake. I will say the original voices, based on what he showed, fit the models of the original and the new voices fit the new models. I feel it would be jarring to hear the original voices in the new models.
I didnt like hunter either. Though the other characters i liked. I even didnt mind the change of the villian being overly mad. Made it feel more like nefarious from ratchet and clank. Which i quite liked. Wish they put a bit more humour into it but other then that i liked it
I was waiting for you to bring up the skeleton dance. That used to be my FAVORITE part of that particular game and It would make me so happy having him dance and the song that played. I was so excited for it this time around all new and revamped.. Only It wasnt at all the same and i was hella disappointed with the stupid fortnite dance moves 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I could tolerate the air horns for cheap humor... but man, I still remained disappointed by the dance change. He used to be so energetic about being put back together again...now he's just an angry skeleton flossing.
The Sparx issue was the only real problem I had with the game. Sometimes he just completely ignores gems, sometimes his collection range is reduced to like 1/20 of it's normal range. Irritating, when in the second and third games, half the gems I missed were camouflaged green gems sitting in grass.
I actually didn't hate the mission when I got around to playing it. I got lost as to where I hadn't gone yet accidentally going in circles more than I crashed.
One of the minor things that bothers me is Hunter's voice in the remaster. His original voice is something I can only describe as "Hilariously Condescending", and I loved it. It was probably my favourite thing about Hunter. It bothers me even more seeing that his original voice actor is in the game anyway, but they didn't get him to do his voice.

I missed all the enemy dying sounds from the originals that they removed. I think all the sound effects and voice clips from the original were better. They had more soul.
I was going to make a comment about the noises they used to make, but this particular one I'm thinking of... I can't write down what noise they made. I think it was the smaller rhynocs that made it. By the way, while trying to find the sound, I found a video called Spyro The Dragon Sound Effects. A few parts, pretty sure all or most of them are in there. Well worth a listen to, for old times sake. Great to hear them isolated too.
My favorite was the monotone "Oooooooowwww!" from the wizerds from first games magic crafter's realm, the ones that make the ground move up and down doing that silly chant XD
I used to like the noises the fodder made when you killed them for Sparx. Especially the rabbits in Spyro 3 (Punch noise) WWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
I agree to a degree, but the credits are like, 20-25 minutes, I don't think there was enough level per game to show all of the people and companies in that time lol. I just wish that they had different art that was more directed to the games during the ending, instead of show the same exact ending 4 times, all about Spyro 1. If they at least had the end-game slideshows, I'd be much happier.
I'm on the credits right now, and was super bummed they didn't include the camera angle of flying through the levels. Watching spyro vids until they go off.
You forgot to mention the most difficult part in the trilogy. Getting the perfect skillpoint on gulp. Gulp himself isn't diffcutl, but doing it without being hit is impossible. He drained almsot all of my lives. i had to go back once i had permanent superflame to get the skillpoint.
They upped his difficulty a lot in Reignited. Also, my biggest complaint is them taking away the personality of the baby dragons in Spyro 3. I miss Ba'ah being dressed as a sheep...
@@BigSmiggles @BigSmiggles No, Ripto was voiced by Gregg Berger in both the original PS1 game, and the Reignited trilogy. He also voiced Hunter in the PS1 games, but they cast Robbie Daymond as Hunter for the remake.
You missed the only bad thing that matters, Sparx doesn't do *that* noise anymore ( I mean he does but its so quiet that you cant hear it 99% of the time) and that honestly makes me like the games just ever so slightly less, even though they are cracking and I love them, I would like an option to turn it back on properly, its so nostalgic for me.
XD The magical barrier (i.e the one surrounding Stone Hill) sound effect in Spyro 1 is a similar affair - you can still hear the original sound, but really faintly. I know, because I rammed the edge of the map with the sole purpose of listening to it.
That's actually unforgivable. Also, I never expected to be reminded of your channel on a Spyro vid, Sir Sic. I suppose it's time I binge a year's worth of your content to catch back up.
The music, sound effects, designs and "voices" of the baby dragons being changed totally killed any excitement I had for finding them in Reignited Trilogy.
They changed some of them too. If you go and do the cat hockey mini game in frozen altars, the originals egg hatched a dragon dressed as a sheep, this was removed in my version of reignited. Also what happened to the epilogues
Honestly, the way I view the flossing is that much like the disco dancing the skeleton also does, it's meant to be seen as a 'dead' dance, coupled with the caveman's annoyance at it. But I guess that still doesn't work cause at least disco is cool
@@justinharvey7398 They got rid of "learning all the abilities" in both 2 and 3, "learning all sparks abilities" in 3, "sparks reaching for gems farther" in 2, and "invincibility" in 3.
I'm just really disappointed in how they handled the baby dragons, especially when I unlocked the concept art and saw how many of the designs went unused. They used like the same 3 models over and over again, just in different colors, and some of the original animations didn't make it in. Ba'ah doesn't even have his sheep costume anymore!
I cannot agree with this more its the one theing that really pissed me off.. the somehow even made the babies annoying this time.. that sound they make..
Glad I'm not the only one who picked up on this. Feel like they got lazy with the animating this time. Was really looking forward to seeing Ba'ah & some other different animations too :(
Glad I'm not alone in Spyro 3 being buggy. If you look online at peoples experiences, it'll probably put you off even playing it. There's so many glitches that can stop you from getting 100% multiple times. Tis a shame cos the entire package is one of the best remakes ever really, but it really needs some more polish. Especially Spyro 3, it's pretty rough and I would advise people to wait for a patch if their on the fence. As for the firefly mission, it is the games fault for it being so bad, the camera is no longer from above in this section, it's a free camera which makes it way way harder to track where the NPC is moving. So not only do you have to be quicker, you can't really see where he's moving if he's behind you, which makes it basically entirely trial and error unless you already know what mushrooms to hit. Also the rocks don't respawn if you fail (which helps), BUT, it basically breaks the challenge. The second (and intended harder egg) only requires you to hit two mushrooms, which isn't really that much of a challenge... other than the camera.
Same here, on Twitter I posted about a bug I encountered that was bad to a point where I was like, "Toys for Bob, you and I need to have a serious talk about this."
I wouldnt wait for a patch considering its only 40 dollars and its still pretty good. But yea it can get pretty stuttery. Its the same as the new Ratchet and Clank where it looks fantastic until you move then its motion blurred and stuttered to death. Still though it isnt that bad and didnt really detract from my experience so far.
The arguably worst thing about this game is the inability to manually save your game paired with the fact that the game will randomly delete your save progress. I spent a good week or more getting 120% on S1, and after about 20% into S2, my S1 save dropped to 92% for no reason. This is a major oversight by Activision and all other nitpicks fall below this.
Yeah, it's a very serious problem, I did got the game 50% and the next day guess what 20% I was going to cry and scream, because I wasted so many hours doing everything just to do it again
@@protocol37-t1n You can complete the entire game in a couple hours, so if you cried over missing less than half a game's progress, that's actually rather pathetic.
@@JameyMcQueen dude, I exaggerated with the screaming and crying, just for the drama of this comment and the game was 50% and then it was 20%, thats kind of a problem
There are a lot of comments I agree with down below, but one of the things that pissed me off the most was that they got rid of the victory tune when 100% a level in the 2nd Spyro
Yeah the thing that'd pop up on the screen with the talisman, gem, and orb symbol and a big "Level Complete" and victory music (dooo dooo dadooo). I miss the guidebook too, like with the actual pages and whatnot.
I love how when using the charge ramps, you get an indicator that Spyro is gaining speed more. In the original it was often hard to tell if you were getting faster
Spyro 3 was certainly rushed. Hope they fix a lot of the bugs in it. The dragons in Fireworks factory made me want to throw my controller with how impossibly hard it was!
I personally dislike the fact that the camera active and passive mode are almost the same. in the originals the camera would always move slowly behind spyro no matter the movements. Now it doesn't! And like Caddicarus said in his video, Sparks is bad, his range of collecting gems is sometimes non existence and while fliing or gliding he can't pic up the gems either. Hope they correct it with an update. And one last thing does someone else miss the sound and appearence of all collectebals of a level when its 100% complete?
VentusRoxasSora the camera work is sooooo awful and really made me struggle destroying crush and gulp! By the time I had the camera (somewhat) under control, I’d be dead, it’s just annoying and needs to be fixed next update :/
One of my favorite things about the original control scheme was the huge range in which you could satisfyingly pick up gems, made it sooo much less tedious than picking up rings in Sonic / coins in Mario / fruit in Crash / pretty much any other game.
@@TheOzziemozzie Okay, so to promote the game, Activision flew a Spyro drone throughout America to deliver a copy of the Reignited Trilogy to Snoop Dogg with the hashtag #SpyroToSnoop.

I want to speak on what has been fixed-- at least on PC, maybe on other platforms, too. - The Alchemist mission was made easier. The rock monsters have a much longer delay before attacking. - I *think* the Fire Dragons fight and firefly bomb escort missions were made easier. I don't recall having significant problems with them. - Most major glitches were fixed (see original comment below). I can only think of one major issue I encountered (I'll speak on that in a moment). - The nauseating motion blur can be toggled off. HOWEVER. Some issues are still present. - The changes to the supercharge still make 100% completing the Tree Tops level way harder than it should be. - Playing the game at 60 FPS causes issues and can make certain levels impossible unless it's set back to 30 FPS. If certain things aren't moving when it seems like they should be, switch to 30 FPS, and it will work fine. - Subjective criticisms toward the changes in visual and auditory character designs still stand. I still highly recommend the Reignited Trilogy, though. Even if there are a couple of frustrating missions, that's only a tiny percentage of the game, and most of the issues have been fixed completely. It's just really good. Play it. Play it now. You. Yeah, you. The person reading this. Play the game. thetattooedyoshi I’m glad it wasn’t only just me. I try to avoid using the Sparx gem finder but with him consistently missing gems when I’m right next to them, I have to use it to back track a lot
I had it happen to me as well, but very specifically. In Dino Mines, all gems dropped by the green T-rexes, and only the green T-rexes, wouldn't be picked up by Sparx. Guess these guys smell or something...
I have more trouble with Sparx grabbing butterflies he will avoid them almost 80% of the time unless you stand there for 2-3 seconds so he can lock onto it, ridiculous.
For me, the fireworks factory chugged at 15 frames per second throughout the whole level. It was a nightmare. Restarting the game solved it, and my first playthrough of the level ran smooth as butter, but it was strange how inconsistent it was. Let's hope that future patches optimize this game at least a little.
My biggest complaints so far 1. Sorceress voice 2. Bentley’s camera 3. Gulp 4. FORTNITE DANCE 5. Tiki voice Spyro 3 6. Flight/glide camera 7. No bonus for second sparx level Spyro 3 8. SPARX MISSES GEMS 9. Momentum underwater 10. Momentum in flight
Yeah, Gulp is WAAAAY harder than I remember. I beat Gulp on my third try as a when I was 10. At 26, I beat Gulp on my 11th attempt. I even beat Crush and Ripto on my first attempt! Crush's attack pattern is predictable, but nearly unavoidable.
11. MLG horns during said Fortnite dance. (Yeah I get it, they didn't originate from the MLG meme, but once you hear it there, you can't really think of anything else when you hear it in Spyro 2/3)
cmndrkool321 I’ve found that if you literally run (not charge) in a very tight circle he just shoots past you 90% of the time. Easier way for the skill point though is 100% the game and use the infinite super flame
Love this video, even if I've been recommended to watch it.. a year late. Ah. It's quite possible to love, adore, cherish something while still being able to criticize it. Many people forget that. Just because you enjoy something, does not mean it is without its flaws.
I don't really hear any problems with the voices; I think that one can be chalked up to nostalgia. Well, except for that Juliet bird, having a masculine voice would have been hilarious.
Eh, no. I have to disagree on that. I like the new voice better. That voice may have worked back in the day, but it definitely would not fit Juliet's redesign...… unless you can get someone akin to like what they did to Birdramon in Digimon.
+At7outof10 what i think caddy is trying to convey is that all the originals were very exaggerated for comedic effect, and it's all been toned down slightly in this remake. you even confirm this with your thought on the juliet bird
My dad and I haven't had a problem with the load times being too long and he's on a regular ps4 while I'm on a ps4 pro. Also I've Platinumed all 3 games and all trophies unlocked when they were supposed to so idk what's happening to you but it didn't happen to me or my dad and he's still in the first game atm.
a couple of things I didn't like about reignited (in no particular order): the bone dance the pandas in Bamboo Terrace dabbing the panda's designs Handel and Greta's designs Handel and Greta's voices (they don't sound (owo) enough) the Enchanted Towers dudes designs (why do they look like hipsters?) Farley the wolf's design (probably gonna get hate for this one.) the Frozen Altars penguins voices (the design I can live with, but they need to go back to sounding like stoners) basically, I don't like a lot of the redesigns or voices. but I still love the game.
I went through the comments looking for something on the Switch version... I had the game on PS4, then immigrated and left my PS4 and all my games with my parents. Bought a Switch and bought Spyro on it. So disappointing. The frame rate issues in docked mode... Goooood LAWD.... PS4 version was so smooth in comparison.
It’s not. I saw it too. I think they’re sneezing but it looks a looooot like dabbing. It was so cringey I took a screenshot and put it as my PSN cover photo, lol. If you’re on PS4, look up my profile: Tytanium97
@tech6hutch At least for me, I don't get motion blur IRL unless I'm tired and nothing is really functioning properly. The vast majority of the time, there's no motion blur.
16:33 Yes. For those at least uninformed, the voice actor for Spyro in this entire remastered trilogy REPRISES, excluding Spyro one since that was Carlos Alazraqui and not Mr. Kenny, and Tis the one and only Tom Kenny who’s known for many joyous roles throughout theses decades of media including Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants.
I was able to look past most the flaws in the remaster till I played Zephyr...Juliette’s original voice is what made that level so perfect in my opinion. (Also the cowlicks don’t moo all dramatic anymore, which is another thing that killed the level for me. I’m honestly surprised they didn’t go and change Bo-peep and give that character a woman’s voice too.)
That mission isn't even hard. Never had an issue even the first time i played it. Don't know what everyone is talking about with the train mission being hard

2 thing I didn’t like in Reignited Trilogy were 1. Mr Bones doing the floss 2. The Tikis voices. In my opinion Tom Kenny voice for the Tikis is better then Max Mittelman, maybe because of nostalgia or that Tom voice is a little bit more memorable that Max
I encountered the same glitches in 'Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon' with Sparx sometimes ignoring gems even when standing right next to them, and the glitch with the camera in the Sgt Byrd sections really infuriated me, making me dread the Sgt Byrd sections whenever I had to do one. Oh and the frame rate in 'Year of the Dragon can be quite jarring at times I agree, but the worst framerate drop I got was in 'Lost Fleet' during the skateboard section, when trying to get the skill point for beating 3 laps in under 1:45. This happened to me recently too, also when I finished a lap the counter didn't change to say I was on the 3rd lap, the game thought I was on the 2nd lap still, which I wasn't. Even the pysics felt really off when jumping off a ramp and boosting, but in the skateboard sections before they were perfectly fine. Seriously hope these issues get fixed in a patch. Sorry for the rant, I do love this remake, to me it's near enough perfect, minus the glitches, in my opinion I loved everything else 😜
Things that pissed me off - NPC design in 2 & 3, worst of all - Enchanted Towers. - Cringe voice acting - Spyro being too wide eyed and eager to help in Ripto's Rage instead of pissed off and apprehensive - Monks chants in Collossus - Twilight Harbour sludge guns - Egg thief laugh - Juliets voice (was a massive lol in the original)
I also thought that spyro was way too happy in riptoes rage. In the original he was grumpy all the time bc he literally got kidnapped while going on vacation.
I assume Juliet's voice being changed might have to do with times changing and that probably leaving a bad taste with trans people or something, same with the twilight harbor guns.
I was literally 99% done with Riptos Rage and then made the mistake of going to bed. When I woke up it had for some reason erased my entire game. 0%. Nothing. I just started playing the 3rd one instead because....no 🙄🙄😡😡
Had this, you probably know this or don't care by now but if you redownload it the problem is fixed. However downloading the 40gb file again is not fun.
True the dialogue is so OTT there is no other way to say it. "You got a problem with that pussycat" "destroy him and make sure its painful" "ah you despicable little creature I'll kill you" ect. You cant say lines like that straight
I still dont understand why they had someone else voice hunter when they already had his original voice actor. Also the romeo and juliet bit completely baffled me. Just why. How did that joke go over their heads?
Gregg Berger might not be able to do the Hunter voice any more, but can still do the Ripto voice. He IS 18 years older, so hitting that Baritone pitch potentially isn't as possible or natural. The Romeo and Juliet thing is also a strange one. It's most likely just a creative difference they wanted, as to fit with the rest of the upgraded voice acting and atmospheric feel established, or another possibility is that they wanted to use their already impressive portfolio of Voice Actors that they had on hand doing the other voices, to do Juliet's voice, instead of getting another guy *try* and attempt the original voice and inflection.
I don't think the Juliet joke went over their heads. I guess they wanted to avoid offending anyone from the LGBTQ+ community. Which is stupid because it was hilarious and no sane person (no matter if they identified as LGBTQ+ or not) would have felt offended, but yeah.
Personally two things i didn't like that i haven't seen mentioned yet The sound of the silver robots in hurricos.... yes it used to be so annoying to listen to but now that's it's less annoying.. it almost made me more annoyed? hahaha Secondly you can't flame the NPC's anymore.. you used to be able to flame them and they'd jump and scream :( and i just really liked doing it xD
I hated Hurricos with a passion, not because of the robots, but because of that one orb mission where you had to fly towards the factory, that part was a real pain in the ass.
This game wasn't that glitchy to me, but I did find a very funny one in Town Square. I released the first dragon there and he talked about how to glide to the next area. He closed off by saying: "Use the right stick to get a good look" I then proceed to jump for my next glide, only to have the newly appeared FAIRY Team-Rocket me off the map. Welp. A good look was had. Thanks Nils...
2:21-2:41 "Spyro is ridiculously tight and extremely fun and bouncy to control and the charging is my absolute favorite in any 3D Spyro game to date. The weight and heavy momentum with slippy sliding from the original Spyro 1 has mixed in with the speed and responsiveness of 2 and 3 to give you a brilliant compromise that feels completely excellent. Not too fast, not too slow, not too tight in the turning and not too loose either."
I think most of the issues with Spyro 3 are probably due to Sanzaru Games developing it, with Toys For Bob only supervising. In any case, the major issue I personally had was the camera in some minigames (like the one about turtles soup and Bentley's "whack-a-mole"), which I think just artificially inflated the difficulty. If we're going for more... "personal annoyances", I didn't like how the 2nd Sparx mission in the third game doesn't give you anything 'cause you have the power already (seriously, why couldn't they come up with, at least, an alternative reward?)
They're not paintball guns. In an interview with Achievement Hunter, they explained that they changed them into what l believe they called "goo guns". They decided it was more fitting that they use weapons that utilize the toxic goo found throughout the level.
How would that even make sense, Spryo has his head angled down because he's charging with his horns, so he'd just be breathing fire into the floor lmao
I thought Hunter's voice sounded like someone trying to be Sonic, and also I find it weird that the Activision logo runs at 60 frames, but the rest of the game doesn't. But other than some other stuff, I love the game overall.
Trying to be Sonic? Well hell, we need to get that guy to voice the lil' blue bastard. Maybe he'll sound young again instead of the 45 year old sounding man Roger Craig Smith has turned him into
I love the game but I have to admit it feels lifeless in some areas of the third game. Getting rid of the story book element was a small disappointment for me because I feel it added some charm to it. The game select screen is also kinda bland and handled much better in the Crash remake. Also Shelia's voice in the remake is kind of eh and was done much better in the original, the new voice just feels off and the Australian accent just isn't there in some places.
YES. This annoys me so much. And in the XOne version it's ridiculously worse, to the point of packing less than 300MB in the disc. I was surprised to see no mention of that here.
Maybe because the entirety of the Reignited Trilogy is almost 70GBs, and your standard Blu-ray only holds up to 25 and a dual layer disc being 50? They would have had to go the Red Dead 2 route and put it on 2 discs, and they clearly weren't going to for when they were releasing it at a budget price to coincide with Crash getting a budget price release.
Honestly, Caddy mentioning that Toys For Bob worked on the Madagascar game as well was a surprise to me. Madagascar was one of my main games when I was a kid and I'm definitely feeling better about getting the Spyro Trilogy after already having made the connection myself. I wonder if Caddy would be willing to review it someday.
TfB's 90s library is very diverse and good potential review fodder, from a 2.5D platformer (Pandemonium) to a unique (for it's time) fighting strategy game (Unholy War) and a Japanese version with magical girls (Little Witching Mischiefs).
Omg. UnHoly War! I mastered that game and all it's characters. I don't understand why it didn't have a bigger following and I agree it, with other games, are review perfect. "AH AH AH, System Shutdown!"
I think the same applies to a few levels of the N.Sane Trilogy as well. Slippery Climb / Stormy Ascent and Generator Room. Those levels had buckets and buckets of atmosphere, and the remakes just seem hugely kiddified in comparison.
The minor problems that I had aren't really worth mentioning, but there is ONE thing I absolutely HATED...no LOATHED about Year of the Dragon. The baby dragons look ATROCIOUS!! There are only two models and they look like they are made from wet playdough and move so stiffly that when I saw them revealed I swore up and down that they were just unfinished and would get polished in the delay BUT NOOO. The babies were the absolute worst part of the entire trilogy to me and while it doesn't ruin the game or experience for me it is something I hope I am not alone in noticing and they polish the little bastards. On a bit of a funny note, I have completed each game "100%" twice so far and while other people are having glitches preventing them from reaching 100% I keep getting extra gems in my playthroughs. I have 14,002 in the first game and 20,010 in the third.
THIS! Oh dear God in heavens hear THIS! The longer I look at the little shits the more I come to think they just don't belong in the game. They remind me SO MUCH of Wallace and Gromit (I always hated the animation made with that playdough) and they seriously look like bases which should later be covered in the beauty of the remaster. Heck, they look like they belong more to the _Enter the Dragongly_ than anywhere else!
This. I fucking don't know what is going on with extra gems in playthrough and sparks is lazy so I can't get him to pick up nearby gems. Fuck me it is sooo annoying
Hovering in the game is iffy, sometimes you hover, other times you fall as if its "abort" in spyro 1. Censorship like Bombo and rifles in the Scorch stage and lack of guns in Twilight Harbor I have the camera set on Active but it isnt active enough MOTION BLUR. I WISH I COULD TURN IT OFF
Wait, wasn’t the game delayed because they needed to polish the third game? That’s a little shitty that the delay was because of polish and the game still has very noticeable glitches and runs a little weird.
No. They first wanted to release only the first spyro game and have more time to do 2 and 3 and release them separetely as downloadable update pack but since they got a lot of notes about it, they took their plans back and got little bit more time to do 2 and 3. It makes perfect sense that 2 and 3 (especially 3) seems buggy and not running very well since they didn't want to release it in that time frame.
QUESTION OF THE DAY: How does the game run/look on a regular PS4? Or XBOX One? Or even XBOX One X? Please tell me your experiences here!
On A Normal PS4 It Run The Same, But It Load A Long Time!!
And I Have A 4K TV And It Have Frame Dropped Here And There. Ugh!
Incredibly solid on PS4!
Also I'm Planning To Get A PS4 Pro. So It Can Have Less Frame Dropping. Also I Hopeing They Have DLC Hub Worlds Or Even Levels!😄
To me, the only performance issue I had with the game on a regular PS4 is the load times were a bit too long, but not unbearable.
Omg I forgot til you said gonna play my ps3 to watch this ^_^

@Kasper Sveinsson He didn't floss in the original, the hands moved back and forth in front of his torso only. Like more of an old timey happy dance or something idk the term for it
I cringed when i saw it myself
My issues:
- No option to turn off inverted flight controls
- No subtitles
SAME, flying was so hard for me.
Try using the directonals when flying helped me
I'm playing through the first game now and the inverted flight controls is my one major complaint so far.
Just turn subtitles on on your TV.
I know it's probably too late for you, but if you go into camera options and change them, it changes the controls. Or seemed to?!
A few things I didn't like about the new trilogy:
1: When flying, Spyro's flap is smaller and less useful.
My sister was crushed over the changed Monk sounds; She loves those silly things in the original.
I felt the same way about that monk level. I was like “where’s the OG sounds?!” That chanting was hilarious
Every time you die you have to see that “reigniting” screen... drives me insane!!
I mean, it has to load the level again?
@@Faeborn But why? If it has already loaded before. Its not like it has to reload all gems or enemies.

@@slothz5063 I'm assuming it's for stability. Reloading the level puts it into a know state. Depending on how they wrote it, it may have also been more work to make a routine that respawns collected stuff.
I know this comment is 2 years old but I agree!
A minor gripe for me was how similar the unbreakable chests look to the normal metal ones (which can be broken by charging).
Why not just make them gold or some other distinctly different color?
Hi trueunderdawg, how's the bubblegum princess
Lol what a stupid thing to complain about 😂
Nah I'm with you on that one.

The paintball gun is especially weird considering that the dinosaurs in spyro 3 still have guns and shoot bullets at you.

I think they also did it so that the "bullets" show better. Instead of small black spots bit Magenta dots.

I enjoyed playing through the Reignited but there's a few things I didn’t like:
- Generic menus (no title screen with animated characters, or animated Guidebook)
- No fly-through of all levels during credits
- First game still has lame boss fights
- Removal of guns from Twilight Harbor (they made the level iconic for me)
- Some glitches (One time a NPC got stuck during a quest, so I couldn't progress)
- Awful physics and controls in the skateboard & hoverboard races
- Baby dragons look weird and have very few variations
- The remastered music felt weak, but there was an option to switch to the original, so no complaints there

Gba Spyro games also had that
I enjoyed all the new voice acting over the original (without nostalgia glasses) EXCEPT Hunter. You absolutely hit the nail on the head about him.
I agree
yeah same, i frankly found the original voices to be grating at places.

I could tolerate the air horns for cheap humor... but man, I still remained disappointed by the dance change. He used to be so energetic about being put back together again...now he's just an angry skeleton flossing.
Yes it was almost as cringe as saying "hella".
I really don't get why people made a fuss over this.
The Sparx issue was the only real problem I had with the game. Sometimes he just completely ignores gems, sometimes his collection range is reduced to like 1/20 of it's normal range. Irritating, when in the second and third games, half the gems I missed were camouflaged green gems sitting in grass.
"TrOuBlE wItH tHe TrOlLeY eH?"
I also breezed through this first try on my pc.
Probably because of all the practice from the PS1

This was actually easier for me on reignited for some reason. I couldn't always predict which challenges were going to be hard in the reboot!
I actually didn't hate the mission when I got around to playing it. I got lost as to where I hadn't gone yet accidentally going in circles more than I crashed.
@popcorn lover cause it's fun...
Eridani i agree completely, his dumb voice gave him a lot of charm. does his va still voice hunter or another character?
the way remastered hunters voice is, it gives a different impression of him completely imo
He voices Ripto, yeah, but not Hunter.
I wouldn't be surprised if Hunter's old VA just can't do that voice well enough anymore.

I missed all the enemy dying sounds from the originals that they removed. I think all the sound effects and voice clips from the original were better. They had more soul.
I loved knocking the rynocs off the edges of ledges. Just to hear them "AAAAAH"
I found the speedways on Spyro 1 to be REALLY hard! I used to do them fairly easily but it takes me like 9 tries before I can actually do it now -_-
My gripe is that they scrapped the credit sequence where the camera flies around old levels.
Well, they could have just either re-run the levels or faded to black at the end and showed some concept art there.
I'm on the credits right now, and was super bummed they didn't include the camera angle of flying through the levels. Watching spyro vids until they go off.
Yep. I was so disappointed when I beat the first game
I too HATE the Alchemist mission, any escort missions really.

They upped his difficulty a lot in Reignited. Also, my biggest complaint is them taking away the personality of the baby dragons in Spyro 3. I miss Ba'ah being dressed as a sheep...

Yeah, that was one of my honest criticisms as well. The new designs are... Bothersome to me.
I skipped through all of the hatching scenes which is not a good sign.
The weird sticker eyes are uncanny.
This video is inaccurate. The flossing skeleton is 100% the worst thing in this game

-Jim Caddic, 2018
TheLonelyGoomba Can you review Mega Man And Bass since Caddicarus won’t? *blink blink*

And like Caddicarus said in his video, Sparks is bad, his range of collecting gems is sometimes non existence and while fliing or gliding he can't pic up the gems either. Yeah kinda strange, that we got a Spyro Reignited trilogy "review" before the actual Spyro review. But I guess we are still 400k subs away from those.
You also mentioned the SGT Byrd Camera glitch too! Thank god that wasn’t just me
Omg I had the same issue too! I had to friggin die just to fix it, and if dying didn't work, had to restart the whole level.
Same! I was like wtf is going on is this normal? Hardcore version omg it was so weird
I'm fairly common Sgt. Byrd's dome and asshole glitch is the most commonly experienced one among players that actually effects the gameplay in a terrible way.
You have to be a god to make it work or accept your demise to fix ir
I'm rather partial to Spyro 2, personally, but they're all good.

Yeah wtf is up with Sparx in this version lazy bastard won't pick up some of these gems when they're RIGHT THERE!!!!
thetattooedyoshi I’m glad it wasn’t only just me.
@@UiloorDr Maybe Sparx is too busy eating all the sausages the dinos shoot at you to pick up the gems.
which is kinda ironic considering he has little arms now
I have more trouble with Sparx grabbing butterflies he will avoid them almost 80% of the time unless you stand there for 2-3 seconds so he can lock onto it, ridiculous.
For me, the fireworks factory chugged at 15 frames per second throughout the whole level. It was a nightmare. Restarting the game solved it, and my first playthrough of the level ran smooth as butter, but it was strange how inconsistent it was. Let's hope that future patches optimize this game at least a little.
The first time I was in the world, it was playing normally. The 2nd time, major slowdown.
Same problem for me!
My biggest complaints so far
1. Sorceress voice
2. Bentley’s camera
3. Gulp
4. FORTNITE DANCE
5. Tiki voice Spyro 3
6. Flight/glide camera
7. No bonus for second sparx level Spyro 3
8. SPARX MISSES GEMS
9. Momentum underwater
10. Momentum in flight
Mei Yes Bentley’s camera seriously pissed me off. I felt so weird and disoriented while playing his levels.
Not inverting flight control annoys me.
cmndrkool321 I’ve found that if you literally run (not charge) in a very tight circle he just shoots past you 90% of the time.
My biggest problem is the monks hum in spryo 2 they ruined it
They no longer chant right!

I don't really hear any problems with the voices; I think that one can be chalked up to nostalgia.
Well, except for that Juliet bird, having a masculine voice would have been hilarious.
I agree.
Same!
Eh, no. I have to disagree on that. I like the new voice better. That voice may have worked back in the day, but it definitely would not fit Juliet's redesign...… unless you can get someone akin to like what they did to Birdramon in Digimon.
@@ringra1578 But it would still be hilarious.
+At7outof10 what i think caddy is trying to convey is that all the originals were very exaggerated for comedic effect, and it's all been toned down slightly in this remake.

Well this may not be the Spyro retrospective ,but it is closest thing will get to it , so thanks anyway Caddy.😁👌
a couple of things I didn't like about reignited (in no particular order):
the bone dance
the pandas in Bamboo Terrace dabbing
the panda's designs
Handel and Greta's designs
Handel and Greta's voices (they don't sound (owo) enough)
the Enchanted Towers dudes designs (why do they look like hipsters?)
Farley the wolf's design (probably gonna get hate for this one.)
the Frozen Altars penguins voices (the design I can live with, but they need to go back to sounding like stoners)
basically, I don't like a lot of the redesigns or voices. but I still love the game.
I wouldn't have minded if they just had the skeleton do an infinite floss, its the horns and cringe saturday night live moves i hated.

Me, who owns the game on Switch: Oh my sweet child if only you knew
I went through the comments looking for something on the Switch version...
I had the game on PS4, then immigrated and left my PS4 and all my games with my parents. Bought a Switch and bought Spyro on it. So disappointing. The frame rate issues in docked mode... Goooood LAWD.... PS4 version was so smooth in comparison.
Meanwhile on PC they unlimited the framerate but didn't optimize the game to work with this.

I've never liked motion blur in any game. Does the real world have artificially applied motion blur? No? Then why do games have it?
There's a option to disable it now.
Yes, the real world has motion blur. It's just applied by your mind.
To be realistic...games aren't real life.
But seriously though, never had an issue personally but I can understand the frustration.
@tech6hutch
At least for me, I don't get motion blur IRL unless I'm tired and nothing is really functioning properly.
The vast majority of the time, there's no motion blur.
Yes, if you move your head in a rapid manner while keeping your eyes straight.
What bout hardest boss in spyro 2 ! Gulp and the camera angles omg terrible
I took me like 15 times to beat him. 😤
Yes I still can't beat it
The Frozen Altars voices were sad too. That monotone flat speech of the original cannot be replaced! “When I get my flippers on that rotten bear.”

That mission isn't even hard. Never had an issue even the first time i played it. Don't know what everyone is talking about with the train mission being hard

2 thing I didn’t like in Reignited Trilogy were
1. Mr Bones doing the floss
2. The Tikis voices. In my opinion Tom Kenny voice for the Tikis is better then Max Mittelman, maybe because of nostalgia or that Tom voice is a little bit more memorable that Max
Max Mittelman? FOR REAL!? *has a persona-gasm*
I like the original better because the voices remind me of Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh.
Things that pissed me off
- NPC design in 2 & 3, worst of all - Enchanted Towers.
- Cringe voice acting
- Spyro being too wide eyed and eager to help in Ripto's Rage instead of pissed off and apprehensive
- Monks chants in Collossus
- Twilight Harbour sludge guns
- Egg thief laugh
- Juliets voice (was a massive lol in the original)
I also thought that spyro was way too happy in riptoes rage. In the original he was grumpy all the time bc he literally got kidnapped while going on vacation.
I assume Juliet's voice being changed might have to do with times changing and that probably leaving a bad taste with trans people or something, same with the twilight harbor guns.
@@s0lid_sno0ks Right, and trans people don't play Spyro. I actually burn on contact.
The voice acting wasn't weird in the original? No probs here
I was literally 99% done with Riptos Rage and then made the mistake of going to bed. When I woke up it had for some reason erased my entire game. 0%. Nothing. I just started playing the 3rd one instead because....no 🙄🙄😡😡

Another negative observation about the reignited version is:
- bad voice acting of the minion's.
The ps1 version was much funnier
True the dialogue is so OTT there is no other way to say it. "You got a problem with that pussycat" "destroy him and make sure its painful" "ah you despicable little creature I'll kill you" ect.
You cant say lines like that straight
I still dont understand why they had someone else voice hunter when they already had his original voice actor. Also the romeo and juliet bit completely baffled me. Just why. How did that joke go over their heads?
PentaQueen i wonder about that as well.
InitiumEst that’s true. That could be it.
Because Hunter's original voice *sucked* in comparison... There... I said it... Fucking sue me...
Personally two things i didn't like that i haven't seen mentioned yet
The sound of the silver robots in hurricos.... yes it used to be so annoying to listen to but now that's it's less annoying.. it almost made me more annoyed? hahaha
Secondly you can't flame the NPC's anymore.. you used to be able to flame them and they'd jump and scream :( and i just really liked doing it xD
He closed off by saying: "Use the right stick to get a good look"
I then proceed to jump for my next glide, only to have the newly appeared FAIRY Team-Rocket me off the map.
Welp. A good look was had. Thanks Nils...
That happened to me too!
Yeah this happened to me too, though I think its the only glitch I've encountered.
2:21-2:41
"Spyro is ridiculously tight and extremely fun and bouncy to control and the charging is my absolute favorite in any 3D Spyro game to date.
"personal annoyances", I didn't like how the 2nd Sparx mission in the third game doesn't give you anything 'cause you have the power already (seriously, why couldn't they come up with, at least, an alternative reward?)
god dammit now i want a madagascar re-release
i thought i was the only one to enjoy it
Anyone play a bugs life back on ps1 lol
Me too but that will never happen 😞
Or a Banjo rerelease
They're not paintball guns. In an interview with Achievement Hunter, they explained that they changed them into what l believe they called "goo guns". They decided it was more fitting that they use weapons that utilize the toxic goo found throughout the level.
I in all honesty thought it was supposed to be bubble gum. XD
That and with all the mass shootings now a days, I can see why they didn't want to put actual guns.
Its kind of a ESRB rating too. If its rated "everyone" they cant put such gun violence and they wanted to make it 100% child friendly.
I actually like Spyro more than Crash. Because Spyro doesn't make me so pissed off I nearly have an aneurism.
I don’t like the fact that you can’t throw fire while running. I really hate it.
but that's part of the original game mechanics, they couldn't change it for the remake, there would be an uproar

Maybe he'll sound young again instead of the 45 year old sounding man Roger Craig Smith has turned him into
The Activision logo is a video file, the rest of the game needs to render 3D graphics. So the reason is very simple.
16:20 I thought it was knuckles talking the first time I heard his voice
1. They somehow couldn’t put all games on the disc
@@ZEROthefirst Does it really take that many GB's? Holy fuck....

Is it a collectathon? If so I'll give it a go :p
I gotta say the enemies that used to scare me got kiddified in the reignited trilogy
I also came here to say this. Everything became very friendly looking, and not gross or enemy-ish
I got 14002 too.
save some pussy for the rest of us
This. I fucking don't know what is going on with extra gems in playthrough and sparks is lazy so I can't get him to pick up nearby gems. Fuck me it is sooo annoying
14:46 I was not expecting that voice.
I can't hear anything but Grell from Black Butler 😂😂😂
@Cutie Marionette: Neither was I the first time I played the game. But now, I find it hilarious that they gave her that voice!
Hovering in the game is iffy, sometimes you hover, other times you fall as if its "abort" in spyro 1.
Censorship like Bombo and rifles in the Scorch stage and lack of guns in Twilight Harbor
I have the camera set on Active but it isnt active enough
MOTION BLUR.
It makes perfect sense that 2 and 3 (especially 3) seems buggy and not running very well since they didn't want to release it in that time frame.
imagine if the game wasn't delayed then. We might have Enter the Dragonfly levels of broken there.
The motion blur makes the game look nasty when moving fast
The camera has issues
No subtitles
It bothered me for like 5 minutes, then I didn't even notice the blur.
The Tikki lodge voice acting in the reginited trilogy was the greatest dissapointment.
