I got sober January 16 2015. Best thing I ever did for myself and my kids. There are a lot of us out here, and you are probably helping people you have no idea about because you share your story. You are such an amazing singer, songwriter, guitarist, I can’t wait to see how you keep growing. Love your stuff, and thanks for sharing. I promise I will get down to see a show soon. June is a crazy month for me.
Sober guy here. Wasn’t expecting to see this, just came to your channel because I love your guitar playing, but it made me so happy to see it! Excellent job, man - it takes a little while to feel normal again, but as you’re seeing, the songs start to come out. It’s an odd thing to say, but going through all that stuff gives you so much material in retrospect. Thanks for sharing - you’re a badass!
Love the song and happy to hear you’re doing so much better jedd! I’m not a writer or songwriter myself but I read this book “bird by bird” by Anne lamott about the writing process and was amazed at how involved, emotional, and treacherous it sounded. Huge respect to everyone who pushes that deeply into themselves and the world for a few nuggets of truth to share with the world ❤
Your playing always takes me to another place, Jedd. The chord voicings, open strings, and progressions are inspirational. I didn't know about your rehab. I hope you're doing well with that. Keep the videos coming, brother!
So I got call from my doctor and she wanted to move up the consultation with my results. Originally scheduled for tomorrow in Santa Monica. it is now a Video appointment today at 3: 30 I’ve kind of been freaking out a little my heart’s been racing and my breathing been a little shallow. But this guys song and his story has calmed me right down. Your timing was perfect. It is what it is and everything will be fine. Love you, brother. God is good. So Jedd I hope you read this. If you could imagine waiting on results of a tumor growing in your lung unfortunately it was cancer so the journey begins for good brother I grew up with and played a lot of music with. My name is Matt and my friends name is Mike. We both thank you pray for Mike. Oh I celebrate 35 years of sober living this October. Hang in there
Jedd, Happy belated Father's Day. Good for you being/staying sober, not to mention having the courage face your weaknesses, and do rehab. Never easy. But you did it! Anyway, can hardly wait for next Wednesday. Haven't been to a show where I wasn't the one playing, in a long long time.
Beautiful Jedd, looking out the window from the depths of addiction to the light of recovery. It’s a beautiful thing being able to come out on the other side. I’ve been clean now for 8 years . Back then I couldn’t have imagined the life I have now .
After 25 years I finally made it stick December 2016, I didn't feel safe from my own choices for a couple of years after that, and initially I had to shut down that nagging impulse thousands of times a day. After searching for distraction for so long I made a friend of isolation and eventually myself, then healthier people. I'm a different person now and I have a new found empathy for my former self, he didn't have the skills for all the shit he had to deal with even if it was of his own creation! Now, I'm the happiest I've ever been and helpful to others which I'm proud of. I wish you the best with your on-going recovery and look forward to more songs. Thanks for sharing mate🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Great performance. Alcohol is complete BS, it’s a real battle especially as society normalises it. As a dad it’s the best thing I’ve done for myself and my family to quit drinking. Young people, especially boys need good role models who can demonstrate it’s possible to lead a fulfilling life without booze.
I sure hope you can keep it together , I was riding in my truck and had RUclips bluetoothed to radio and after the song I am working up for my band was over , your song played , I had to pull over to see who it was , about thy time you started talking about sobriety, I never had much of a problem but did my share a self medicating but am sober now as I am battling an incurable blood cancer and don’t want to miss anything being intoxicated . You reached me today thank you
Happy Father's day! Cool song and congrats on the all the self improvement. It's great to be able to reflect on that and draw motivation for songwriting. Nothing down about it, it's life.
Great song, keep at it maestro, that sweet high end sizzle on the loaned Martin inspires; just watched your stage rig with JB, killer tones -Best to ya-
Great great song. Had me reaching for the guitar straight away. Glad you've come through it and please get someone to record the gig for those of us too far away to get there.
That's gonna be a good one Jedd. It really comes through when songs have that autobiographical basis. I'm so glad you're feeling healthy mate! Happy belated Father's day.
Great song! Thanks for sharing part of your story; good on ya for your sobriety. I heard in the rooms that only 10% of folks needing recovery seek it and of those, only about 10% attain it. My former wife tried but didn’t make it. Hang in there my friend……
Hey Jedd, Good to hear you’re doing better one year on. Thanks for sharing. And thanks for all your videos. I love your playing. Always inspiring. Keep them coming.
Your Awsome for being so honest. I'm struggling too. Great to hear you are in a good place. I'm trying to buy that green tele of you, but you aren't getting my emails. What should I do?
man I couldn’t find your email in my inbox! so sorry man. I’ll give you first dibs on the next one! It’s gonna be a beaut! Keep fighting the good fight man, Sending you good vibes mate.
Always here for you mate, no questions asked. I have a story for sometime too. I tried to write about it but it won't come out yet. Some great songs were written like that. 8) There is a newer company, Music Nomad, making guitar tools that are pretty good. I think even Amazon has them. My double sided diamond coated fret files from StewMac were $300/pair, likely more now. They cut great, and are still like new, just very $$!! I got tired of not having what I needed, or having junk. Like the new song!! --gary
Digging the song! Thanks, Jedd 🙏🏻🤍 Congrats on the sobriety. I don't see it as being a downer, you're being real and honest, and there's beauty in that vulnerability. Be good to you 🙏🏻🤍

Beautiful soulful song jedd! Sensitive people suffer! You have a beautiful heart ❤️
Jedd, your patience reminds me of an Argentine guitarist named Juan Falù.
I’ll look him up mate, I wonder if he has any tips on patience with kids hahaha
Very nice song! Hang in there brother. Hang in there!!💪🏾👊🏾

Adore your songs mate. Your solo record is killer. I’ve listened to animal eyes and the dreamer to death. This one’s a keeper. Love and strength. ❤️🙏🏼

Agreed. Snap buttons rule !
haha classic blue denim for the win
@@JeddHughesOfficialIt just reminds me of another great songwriter Guy Clark
@@matthewwillis4892 Just listened to a couple of Guy Clark tunes on youtube. Incredible !
People pay attention to what you do not what you say. Keep 'doing' your sobriety. Peace ✌️
What ia this guitar ? Sounds nice
Its a loaner Martin D-42 from the mid late 50s mate
"dripping with gold and an empty soul" in a major key?
Lovely sounds. Jedd, I know this is a dorky question and tone is in the fingers, but what picks do you use?
Martins rule
Thanks Jedd. Hope to see you after the Rapture, 2028.🎉
Superb vid, mate.
Thanks mate
