    Just FYI the edits, text on screen and voice changing aren’t for comedic effect, it’s to avoid copyright strike haha. They run a bot over videos and when I manipulate the footage, it doesn’t detect it. I wish I didn’t have to.

  • @FridaAvosetta
    @FridaAvosetta 4 года назад +23

    This is so on point! I use a cane most days and a wheelchair some days, and the amount of people who perform niceness to me without actually wanting to listen to me at all is astounding. For example, I really appreciate the people who ask if they can push my chair for me when they notice me struggling, or offer to help maneuver me if I'm stuck, but I absolutely despise people who just start moving me out of nowhere and some people don't even stop when I tell them to!
    Performative charity towards disabled people is when you only acknowledge disabled people because of the fact that we're disabled without any thought as to us as people, and when our opinions and consent are not taken into account, frankly it's just straight up ableism.

    ugh rian's mind.... loved how you dissected their dialogue with one another and promoted confrontation and accountability.
    Movie Recs:
    The Babysitters Club is sooo legendaric as far as films about girlhood friendships go, business minded young girls getting money and supporting each other through extremely difficult life situations while simultaneously enriching the lives of all of the local children. I think that movie would do well for these types of videos.
    Marie Antoinette would be cool to do to, i think the way sophia coppola did it highlighted how wild it is that literal teenagers were running countries.
    Other options i plucked from my letterboxd account: Ginger Snaps, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Jawbreaker, Sugar and Spice, Almost Famous, Party Girl, Muriel's Wedding

    When I was young I thought it was so cool hearing/seeing vietnamese women in pop culture being vietnamese myself. The only time before that was the Christmas eps of Hey Arnold about Mr. Huynh, that was the first time I heard viet on screen. lol years later when I was able to understand their plot/conflict in the movie I was like 💀☠ not underage asian girls involved with the coach. Every other clique/friendship issues were so tame compared to putting asian girls in some weird pedo storyline. Then the inaccurate subtitling the scene with the nword when she didn't even say that in vietnamese. This movie was a trip

    This is a very good point, if you’re an unproblematic person who is genuine you don’t have to worry about people talking behind your back because realistically they won’t ( unless they’re spreading rumors) but that does speak volumes about your character. I feel like I might disagree a little bit on the fact that it’s understandable that a persons needs to blow off the steam and talk to someone about someone else, I think it depends on the person but I honestly think it’s better to confront someone about your feelings and how they treat you first rather than going to someone else to talk about it ( but I understand that not a lot of people are good at confrontation) 💜
