talking Rian and editing Rian - honestly name a more iconic duo
still so excited waiting for that Shrek through the lens of ecofeminism video!
Me too!!!
I’m like 5 mins in omg this is TOO MUCH!! THE GLOSSJER ?!THE DESIGNER OUTFITS?! THE NAME THING?! This is so funny rian u really have it all . if this video doesn’t blow up I’m punching a hole in my wall
Your thoughts about talking behind people's backs are so on point, though.
Just FYI the edits, text on screen and voice changing aren’t for comedic effect, it’s to avoid copyright strike haha. They run a bot over videos and when I manipulate the footage, it doesn’t detect it. I wish I didn’t have to.
i love your mind!! like what you said about friends talking behind someone's back. you always make me consider ""obvious"" things so deeply. you are so considerate and such a gift to the internet and world at large!!
This is so on point! I use a cane most days and a wheelchair some days, and the amount of people who perform niceness to me without actually wanting to listen to me at all is astounding. For example, I really appreciate the people who ask if they can push my chair for me when they notice me struggling, or offer to help maneuver me if I'm stuck, but I absolutely despise people who just start moving me out of nowhere and some people don't even stop when I tell them to!
Performative charity towards disabled people is when you only acknowledge disabled people because of the fact that we're disabled without any thought as to us as people, and when our opinions and consent are not taken into account, frankly it's just straight up ableism.
this is def one of your funniest videos. loved this so much!! Lizzie McGuire Movie next ?
Omg you’re a genius
"that's how you know I lived through the Great Depression"
"raise your hand if you can fight and don't care if someone says something bad about you"
"I LOVE KAREN" IM WHEEZING
"Raise your hand if you can fight"🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿😂😂😂
one of the best film reviews i’ve seen; i love the running commentary of the editing vs the running commentary of the talking
Hey Rian, Hope you're having a great day. Would love to see Clueless. 🥰
I love these film theory videos you've been doing!
i just gotta say i've been following you on socials since I was like 16 and your comments always stick in my brain for some reason lmaaao i be here saying eco feminism on the daily and my friends don't understand but idc. anyway thank u for your content ily
Omg 🥺😭❤️ thank you for being here
i would love to see reviews of she's the man, sugar & spice (💀), jawbreaker, the craft, and/or jennifer's body but i'm also just looking forward to whatever film-related content you decide to put out next because these have all been SO good! 🖤
I am so glad you commented this because I was obsessed with sugar & spice (it was on RUclips lmao shout out to the uploader) and I just started writing around my video on jawbreaker 🥳 and omg I neeeeed to do Jennifer’s body your TASTE is amazing
@@RianPhin omg UR MIND so excited to hear what u have to say about these cinematic masterpieces 😳💗🤝
When I was in high school we had these two girls that skipped school in our bathrooms and when they got caught we found out they didn’t even go to our school
wait OMG
Rian Phin yes Rian they were skipping at an entirely different school (specifically hiding in the girls locker rooms) for almost 3 weeks straight.
Charity Ann Williams OMGGGGGG
Why would you skip by going to ANOTHER school instead of going to the mall.....or....park....or McDonald's. Lol idk. Why another school lol
Wowwww your comments about not minding when your friends talk about you to other people to an extent so that they can process their emotions and experiences was really really really good I think it's something I'm definitely gonna benefit from as I think about it and I wish other people could hear it too. Literally life and experiences and interactions would be so different I love how insightful and interesting you are I really live for these long videos so I can just put on your videos and paint or clean my room. Also your editing skills are really entertaining so while your dialogue would be great for podcasts, using the video format really works for you love u
you literally always drop videos when i need them the most.. nothing brightens my day more!
Why is your hair so crispy “it hurts me when you say that to me” LMFAOO I hollered🤣🤣🤣
omg thank you for the shan boodram shout out, this is the gold i come here for
"Be safe dont loose yourself." I love that and these movie reviews are amazing love anything you put out
"GIVE HER A PIECE OF YOUR HEART" haha yessssssss
these film reviews bring me so much joy omfg (also is virgin suicides too dark? lots to unpack there)
I think you would enjoy the movie called “D.E.B.S”
yess!
ugh rian's mind.... loved how you dissected their dialogue with one another and promoted confrontation and accountability.
Movie Recs:
The Babysitters Club is sooo legendaric as far as films about girlhood friendships go, business minded young girls getting money and supporting each other through extremely difficult life situations while simultaneously enriching the lives of all of the local children. I think that movie would do well for these types of videos.
Marie Antoinette would be cool to do to, i think the way sophia coppola did it highlighted how wild it is that literal teenagers were running countries.
Other options i plucked from my letterboxd account: Ginger Snaps, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Jawbreaker, Sugar and Spice, Almost Famous, Party Girl, Muriel's Wedding
Also Love and Basketball.... how could i forget
Omg drop dead gorgeous, that movie touched on SO MUCH stuff
@@dog5221 Exactly! Privilege, homophobia, fetishism of disabilities, slut shaming, MISOGYNY, controlling parents living through their kids, scammers.... we could go on forever.
@@isaacs5887 exactly! Honestly the ending was better than them following thru with the "pageant" and someone winning. The accuracy of a shady business 💅🏼😂
@@dog5221 Agreed, and kirsten dunst was just trying to have a good time lmao
When I was young I thought it was so cool hearing/seeing vietnamese women in pop culture being vietnamese myself. The only time before that was the Christmas eps of Hey Arnold about Mr. Huynh, that was the first time I heard viet on screen. lol years later when I was able to understand their plot/conflict in the movie I was like 💀☠ not underage asian girls involved with the coach. Every other clique/friendship issues were so tame compared to putting asian girls in some weird pedo storyline. Then the inaccurate subtitling the scene with the nword when she didn't even say that in vietnamese. This movie was a trip
Just got the the end, pls do one of those old Disney original films!! Like motorcrossed/zenon/wish upon a star/etc u know the ones lol
okay but period. you weren’t wrong at all. can you do Bee Movie?? it’s not really a coming of age film but at the same time it very much is lol
O do clueless next!!
or gone girl
this is literally A1 content Rian + the self realization at the end.... perfectionnnn pls do more!
Yay thanks so much definitely will
"it's different when I say it" loving it!
haha thanks so much for watching
I love your commentary and takes. Like what you said about talking behind someone's back, you gave a pov I haven't really heard but makes so much sense.
New sub because these commentaries are giving me life!! Some film suggestions: Booksmart, The House Bunny, The Clique, Fab Five Texas Cheerleader Scandal, Pregnancy Pact... just to keep the running theme so far of teenage/YA "girl" films.
my favorite cady and aaron scene that's never memed is when it's raining outside and he turns to her to let her know it is indeed raining
Love love love your hair and makeup💕💕💕could you consider reviewing WWYD videos? I know you do films, but that would be so funny
this commentary is HIGH ART. pls keep making these
rian i have been watching your videos faithfully for like six years now and i want very much to tell you that these cinematic reflections have been some of best things youve ever made like ugh your mind
Homeschooled stereotypes are VERY true in the south. Extreme Christians
Omg!!!
The home school stereotype is real. But it's not related to being Christian or not. That's completely unnecessary.
i relate to janis' shirt being too big lmao they used to order the wrong size uniform for me all the time
HAHAHAHA! You're so funny and I love all of the silly edits you added! My birthday is also October 4th and I feel like we experience similar things at similar times.
i really like how quickly you talk like other you tubers especially film channels are always so slow paced & I have to watch them 1.5*speed to keep my attention on them you are super good at that thanks ♡
ooh noted i'll keep talking fast
I watched your video on Thirteen, then this one and omg I can’t wait to watch more of them! I love your analysis and commentary!!
GIVE HER A PIECE OF YOUR HEART!!! i love that
"No, I am not elaborating, I am a great person." LMAO
"it hurts and i think about it often" LMAO
Yes to reflecting on how past trauma affects your actions around friendship to this day! Release that internalized guilt! Heal girl!
This is a very good point, if you’re an unproblematic person who is genuine you don’t have to worry about people talking behind your back because realistically they won’t ( unless they’re spreading rumors) but that does speak volumes about your character. I feel like I might disagree a little bit on the fact that it’s understandable that a persons needs to blow off the steam and talk to someone about someone else, I think it depends on the person but I honestly think it’s better to confront someone about your feelings and how they treat you first rather than going to someone else to talk about it ( but I understand that not a lot of people are good at confrontation) 💜
I'm four minutes but your editing is already cracking me up omg....you really bless us with insights and jokes!
also never really noticed this before but I'm convinced that Karen is cousins with Brittney from Daria
omg thanks so much for watching
I love these types of videos!! The editing and attention to detail is literally perfect
Years ago, my dad had said the Swahili that the boy spoke wasn't even correct to what was shown on screen. He said they should have gotten another Swahili speaker to cross check.
Omg thank you for sharing this
The Halloween party thing happened to meeee in college. I got invited to a pyjama party and wore Scrooge style pyjamas only to get there and find out that pyjamas meant lingerie. 💯
The chaotic editing + commentary is what I needed. 🤪
these are such comfort videos i wanna memorize them
no literally 😭 i have so many lines in these vids memorized
The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off or Dead Poets Society would be interesting to dissect
omg yessss!!
I looove your movie reviews 😭😌
i think cady was suppose to be from kenya? judging by the kenyan maasai that was in her photo and she spoke swahili at one point LOL. idk why they didn't just say kenya tho very dumb of them.
we need more movie reviews omg i cant think of any to watch right now but i love this ! dhjsjd
love yay thanks editing one now for ya!
Riaaan I would love to see you watch Kiki's Delivery Service!! It's such a wonderful coming of age film for young girls/people.
yes yes yes!
I grew up on the French DVD version 🥺❤️
This is one of my favorite videos from you!
i am so obsessed w this... thank u rian this was so funny and fun (the editing was so good) also yr point abt being a teacher and knowing all the gossip... i teach n my kids tell me gossip abt my own coworkers/other teachers and I’m just like?? how do u even know this, but thank u.
also what u said abt talking abt ppl behind their back!!! u’ve opened my mind sincerely ur so right. when i was in hs i used to vent abt certain things abt my friends on my tumblr lol (but never name them) and they would get v mad w me even tho in my mind I was just like oh but I’m processing. sjsksj so what u said has me rethinking a lot of these things
ilysm!!! You should do Our Song, Juno, Ladybird or anything you want. Loving this series :)
Thank you, Rian THIS WAS SPOT ON!! I love these reviews... I mentioned it on twitter too, but I’d love to see you talk about Now and Then
yay thanks so much for sure will!
Is Mean Girls really a coming-of-age story?
Also maybe her family lived in several different African countries and that's why they never specify
i lost it at "it's like watching a tv show for free"
the game show music omg ty again for the impeccable edits + notes i was pausing sm to read everything
I love your reviews! You bring up great points and it’s interesting to revisit these older movies I haven’t seen in many years. What about 10 Things I Hate About You?
This might be the best thing on RUclips now. I live for these reviews. Gagging for em!!
This delightful dissection of Mean Girls is sending me to a realm of realized and also unrealized revelations - you are and have always been amazing!
I also always love what you say about "gossiping" or talking behind people's backs. I really agree with you, people need space and support to process things that are done to them by other people.
yooo nice catch i never new shan was in mean girls!!
So random, right haha
thank you for the kandi burruss ‘fly above’ reference 😭
Please do not ever take this down, i will be watching it over and over and over again to regain consciousness after toxic interactions at work.
rian I love these vids! the editing and film commentary are my fave
23:10 I loved what you said about friends speaking about you behind your back. We all do it and talking about life events helps us understand them better.
Okay i laughed throughout and also your wisdom throughout was enlightening
this is not the type of video i like to watch but i love everything you create and i am DYING. everything you create IS a masterpiece and highly enjoyable and you teach me something in every video. toxicity is 50% 50% will be ringing in my brain forever i am so thankful. but also the price is right music
I love all your movie reviews!! this is such fun content and please never stop
fun.... but also educational, exceptional, groundbreaking, insightful, omniscient, light hearted, and genius
Rhian this video was great! Love your analysis of the film, the editing was also really funny. Hope you get lots of views and people share the video :)
omg i love these videos???!! please do clueless, legally blonde, dazed and confused, the house bunny... i feel like these all have coming of age girlhood themes
this video will do so well at the oscars next year
LMAOOO ❤️
"give a piece of your heart sis"
I remember reading an article about how important 'gossip' is for community!!
Omg I love that!!
i love these and ur editing !!! lol
you're so smart, I learn a lot from you. love your videos❤️✨🌹
this is so beautiful the care u took in editing this thank u!!
I actually spontaneously watched this on 10/04/22 so happy birthday! 🥳
i was diagnosed with ASD+adhd 3/23/22. im a 31-year-old black woman (just turned 31, birthday is 9/28), so your presence and channel is tremendously appreciated. love your vids and love that you are unabashedly yourself always as well as very mindful. i am also on the path of self-improvement and growth - difficult but getting there!
hope you are well! stay safe always!
💖

SUCH a good recommendation omg for sure
i watch this once a day...im obsessed
I wish this was around when I was in high school. love your videos, you ideas and your edits
I’m loving these videos! I’d def love to see you watching a movie called “Tart” :)
Ooh definitely! that one stuck with me
This is perfect, I love it so much. Please make more of these ❤️
i read somewhere that the whole movie was actually a misunderstanding, Janis Ian told Ragina that she’s Lebanese and Regina thought she said lesbian
my favorite series of yours maybe...I miss this level of ANALYSIS that I feel we used to get on Tumblr lmao. I would love to hear ur thoughts on so many Disney channel originals...zenon??? tru confessions??? not a doom but also...the bratz movie
every comment about Karen made me cry i am now a Karen stan!! thank you so much for this video, Rian
