I've always liked Lagwagon, but I've never heard this song or album. I clearly need to change that. This song is fantastic! I usually like to watch you discover songs that I love but now you've helped me discover something new to me. Thanks man!
Hang is next level. One of the best and most underrated albums of the last 25-years. Their friend, Tony Sly’s death (NUFAN), had a massive impact on the writing of this album.
Tony Sly's death had a massive impact on me as well, but I had never heard Hang before. Heard in full twice just today because of this video. I feel like it's gonna become a huge classic for me.
They played a few nufan songs on the tour for this album too. Was really fun and sad at the same time to see them rip so hard while Joey was holding back tears.
I got to see Lagwagon and both Jesse and Joey at the last Nofx show in san pedro! Was so cool getting to see Jesse play with lagwagon again and then Joey got to finish out the set. Almost made me cry it was so awesome!
Dude, I was a guitarist for 20 years and last year I joined a technical skate punk band on bass. I cannot thank you enough for these videos, it has been a crash course that has made me a better player significantly faster than I would have been otherwise. Thank you.
I slept on this album but your channel gave me a chance to rediscover it, and so many other punk songs, now more attuned to the “low end.” Cheers and Merry Christmas, Mark.
This record.. my lord.. what an insanely amazing album. Railer and Hang have become two of my favourite Lagwagon albums ever. Edit: it always makes me giddy the way the typewriter goes from "typing" to being basically a metronome.
Dude, I’ve been waiting for this one! Really hoping for an eventual“Hang” or the next album “Railer” full album on Patreon! Thanks for the quality stuff man!
First. My intro to Lagwagon came from the Fat Wreck Chord's video compilation, "Peep Show". I love that they mixed in "O Come All Ye Faithful" in "Razorburn", and I was hooked ever since!
One of my favorite bands. Amazing song. They are very technical but in a way that suits their songs so well not just being technical for the sake of it. Great chord progressions and melodies. It's awesome you are giving them the recognition they deserve.
I can't tell you how gratifying it is to watch someone discover punk and naturally gravitiate toward my two favorite bands of all time, Propagandhi and Lagwagon. Yay!
I know all Lagwagon albums and songs by heart. I suggested this to you a lot and I'm happy that you reacted to this. ❤ this is the music of my life!.. No Use For A Name band also has a lot of this Absolutely amazing stuff With tha bass Lines of Matt Riddle
It's kind of amazing that Mark is so into Lagwagon already despite the fact that he hasn't even heard anything from my favourite period of them, 1995 - 2005 (from "Hoss" to "Resolve"). I hope he'll circle back to those someday. I really want to hear his reaction to things like their signature song "May 16" and the wacky bass riff in "Move the Car."
Funny sidenote: Seeing Joey play live with Lagwagon is a sight to see not only because of his greatness, but because he's not the tallest, in stark contrast to guitarist Chris "Big Bitch" Flippin who's left next to him. And Joey's fullscale P-Basses add to that, since Chris' Les Pauls look like toys in his humongous hands!
Nailed it. I’ve always got a kick outta all of that. The size differences, the giant bass and the toy guitar. Just some of the many little things that make this band one of a kind. Also, Big Bitch is one of the greatest nicknames of all time haha🫡
I loved Trash but never really got into the rest of their catalog. Thanks to all the fans for suggesting and thanks to you for doing this song because it absolutely rips!
Lagwagon being one of my favorite bands, this is one of their best albums from a musical standpoint. Amazing musicianship in this one. They’re really brought it home with hang
I always loved Lagwagon. It was so long between albums that I was worried it would change too much to still be something I love. I was blown away by this whole album. Their tribute to the late Tony Sly at the end literally brought me to tears.
Lagwagon is a top 3 band for me. Been a fan since the 90s. I think you'd love almost any of their songs. Bass has always been next level whether Jesse or lil joe. I love lagwagon. Excellent video man.
Hang is a true masterpiece and for me it was unbelievable on release that a band had developed stylistically in a different direction and then delivered at this level. I don't think there are many bands that can do that after all these years. Incredibly good.
Legendary band and bassist! This is definitely up there with the best songs they've ever written, Hang is a monster album supercharged specifically by Joe Raposo joining the band right before recording. He kills it throughout the record, I even wrote a review for it on Sputnikmusic. Excellent reaction and analysis as usual!
Thanks so much man, appreciate the kind words! And, wow-Sputnikmusic is a name I haven’t heard in forever. I remember frequently trying to get my band’s records reviewed on there early on, and was a regular on the site back in the day. Cheers!
Hoss was the first Lagwagon album I ever heard, and has always been my favorite. I’d have to go back and listen to what songs are the best bass songs, but as a drummer, it’s is definitely one of their most technically adventurous. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a HUGE Dave Raun fan, they just have different technical styles. I’m getting off topic, but my point is, check out Hoss.
Also the lyrics of this song are outstandig. Like they are on all their albums. But Hang has a special place for me... it is, regarding the lyrics but also in general, a bit darker than the others.
Many of these bands I love has their conceptual/rock operas masterpiece later in their game: Green Day: American Idiot Lawrence Arms: Skeleton Coast Strung Out: Songs Of Armor And Devotion Real Mckenzies: Two Devils Will Talk Bad Religion: Empire Strikes First Blink 182: Untitled and of course: Lagwagon: Hang.
I bought this album on CD. My first listen to this album was intense. I was sitting and in the middle of this song i stood up and didn‘t sat down until the album ended. It took me emotionally. Musically and lyrically. Hard stuff, but lovely as hell.
It's their monster rhythm section. Joey and Dave are RKL alumni and have a ridiculously heavy pocket for a punk band, just check out their work on 1994's "Riches To Rags" by RKL - the band shred factor on that record is pretty nuts.
Lagwagon and Strung Out raised the bar in the 90s Skate Punk scene. I mean, the race to see who could write the fastest, most complex music and still be called Punk was fierce in the 2000s. That said, I think Mute broke Skate Punk. That band was so good.
Mute is so sick! Belvedere is another band that rose the bar too and Forus was a band in the 2010’s that caught my attention too, if you haven’t already, check’em out if you’re a Mute fan you’ll definitely enjoy!🤘🏼
So happy that you like Lagwagon. They have always been an underrated band in the punk scene, even when they were a self proclaimed shitty metal band. More Lagwagon is much like cow bell, we need more
So, the album cover appears to be a bee swarm (as compared to just a bunch of bees flying near a beehive). If you are ever fortunate enough to witness one, stop what you are doing and enjoy it. The bees are very docile at this point. They are leaving their original nest/hive with the older queen because it is crowded and looking for a new home. The queen cannot fly far because her wings are short. So they will likely be landing near you. Observe from a safe distance (10-20 feet) and watch. They are starting a new life. Very interesting that this is in combination with the hangman’s noose. I’m not sure what the band was thinking when they put this together, but I bet it is interesting. Mark, you’ve earned the beekeepers’ stamp of approval. Congratulations. This channel is beekeeper approved.
The whole album has bees as metaphor. Favorite lyrics of the album is from the song "in your wake" ( which is a banger): We say 'good riddance to their kind' Committed to the crime The bees are not impressed It's all lost in your wake
Lageagon is so influential, yet so many people don't listen to them. It's insane. I don't think my playing or writing style would be close to what it is without them.
Right as the song started I tought damn that sounds like "You Could Be Mine" so I love you tought so too! BTW I saw Joe filling in with Face to Face last year and wherever he is he's rocking hard!
Lagwagon is one of my favorite bands, for sure. I’m a happy person for watching them live all the four times that the came to Brazil. Lagwagon 🙌🙌🙌 all the musicianship is great the band one posses one of the best drummers, bassists, guitar player and lyricists. I would like to hear rkl again because that is technical at speed 👍. Merry Christmas
This album is so frickin' amazing. I have been a lagwagon fan since the 90's and this album feels like a masterpiece. But if you love long solid melodies with that drum beat, NUFAN "Feel good album of the year" is a master class. Sounds like a fun pop album but it soooo dark at its core.
First off... I am no musician. LOL I DO love Lagwagon but this album was not my "preferred listening", that however is changing quickly. This song is incredible and I am going to give this album another full listen right now. Thank You!! Side note: {Chocking Victim - Five Finger Discount}
Great video 👍 Lagwagon rock. I was 18 when they released their first album Duh. I have seen them live multiple times. Hoss is a punk rock classic. Double Plaidinum and Let's talk about feelings are also great. Two other bands you really need to check out are No Use for a Name and Pulley. I would suggest More Betterness! from NUFAN and Esteem Driven Engine by Pulley. 👌🎸🎸
Great song, great record! Nonetheless all Lagwagon records are great (and even though they have a Lagwagon sound each record is different from the others). Surviving California from Railer is also a great song with Raposo. Btw, fun fact. All Lagwagon current members (plus late drummer Derrick Plourde) were RKL members at one time. Here is the live version of this song ruclips.net/video/Zt6D2vFhl0k/видео.htmlsi=EYlwxJDRveZ-7a_K
I've always liked Lagwagon, but I've never heard this song or album. I clearly need to change that. This song is fantastic! I usually like to watch you discover songs that I love but now you've helped me discover something new to me. Thanks man!
These are my favorite comments. Love to hear it!! 🥹🙏🏼
You definitely need to hear this album. This is possibly my favorite album by them, and I think a ton of other Lagwagon fans would say the same.
Same.
Broo you can't miss this album this album makes me change from metal to punk rock real quick
Hang is a masterpiece

They played a few nufan songs on the tour for this album too. Was really fun and sad at the same time to see them rip so hard while Joey was holding back tears.
This is literally my all-time favorite Lagwagon song. Love the dynamics and progression. Incredible bass work too.
Lagwagon's always had a great rhythm section. Their drums have always been so damn good as well. The late, great Derrick Plourde was brilliant.
I got to see Lagwagon and both Jesse and Joey at the last Nofx show in san pedro! Was so cool getting to see Jesse play with lagwagon again and then Joey got to finish out the set. Almost made me cry it was so awesome!

This absolutely made my day! Appreciate you, my friend! 🙏🏼
This is legit my favorite Lagwagon song, when 'Hang' came out I honestly just had it on repeat in my car for entire commutes to work some mornings...
Lagwagon’s cover of Discomfort Inn by Tony Sly has some killer bass riffs
I was listening to this song yesterday and thinking... Dude, Mark has to react to this piece of art. And there we are! 👏🏻
😉👉👉
I love this album.
They were on a hiatus for a long time before this release... and what a comeback, probably their best album after Trashed-Hoss.
“Dave Raun on drums!” 😅-Spike Slawson #iykyk
Lol I knew exactly what followed
That bit cracks me up every time! Jonny's a lucky guy!
And, for this song, it's all about that snare roll leading to the outro ❤️
BADABUMPATIBADUMPATIBADUMPATI
ONCE FELL IN LOVE AND IT WAS A GAS
Lagwagon and RKL are one of my favorite bands since the start. And both Joe & Jesse one of my favorite bassplayers!
I love how Lagwagon is now all RKL, or all remain members of RKL are Lagwagon anyways.
A way for RKL to live on. 👊🏽
I slept on this album but your channel gave me a chance to rediscover it, and so many other punk songs, now more attuned to the “low end.” Cheers and Merry Christmas, Mark.
This is one of my favorite Lagwagon songs. I feel like Joe really hit this one out of the park. Definitely some classic sounding basslines in there.
One of my favorite songs to play on behs. Joe's one of the best punk bassists to do it.
Thanks for the quality stuff man!
lagwagon is one of my favorite bands, so cool to see you break these songs down
First.
My intro to Lagwagon came from the Fat Wreck Chord's video compilation, "Peep Show". I love that they mixed in "O Come All Ye Faithful" in "Razorburn", and I was hooked ever since!
Me too, been hooked ever since!
@@stefanheuldoch883 That was such a great video comp! That's how I got into Swingin' Utters too
PEEP SHOW FUCKING RULES HARD!!!!
You guys ever notice we never see Matt and the Werewolf at the same time?
Good Christmas Eve surprise! Thanks Mark!
One of my favorite bands. Amazing song. They are very technical but in a way that suits their songs so well not just being technical for the sake of it. Great chord progressions and melodies. It's awesome you are giving them the recognition they deserve.

Lagwagon is the greatest punk band ever in my opinion. No question. All their albums are bangers and Hoss is a perfect album.
BLAZE!?!?
@ as great as it is, Hoss is a masterpiece without imperfection. My opinion of course. The boys don't write bad songs either way.
@@MatthewBeedham "Blaze" rules. "Falling Apart" is my favourite Lagwagon song and one of my favourite songs period (top 10 of all-time).
@ I agree. I would really love to see him react to the whole Hoss album from start to finish.
Man, this song gets me the feels. I sometimes have a hard time getting through the tune. Amazing song off an amazing record.

I’m a life long fan. Saw them back in the 90s. But this definitely one of their greatest masterpieces. This entire album is pretty much flawless.
This is an album I pretty much instantly fell in love with when I listened to it for the first time around a year ago.
This whole album cover to cover is awesome. Can't wait to hear it when it inevitably wins the poll
It's going to be a tough one tho... Propagandhi will be on that poll too.
@Rijayokano yeah that true. I love propagandhi but my favourite album, Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes is ignored around here.
this album has no hangups
I was listening to lagwagon two days ago and though “ I gotta send this to low end to check out”. Got stoned and forgot, but here we are 😂
This album definitely deserves a full listen. Gotta be my favorite my them.
Lagwagon being one of my favorite bands, this is one of their best albums from a musical standpoint. Amazing musicianship in this one. They’re really brought it home with hang
