this not a us thing..climate change is caused by global over population creating exceptional co2/methane levels of emissions. Disease has been wiped out so thus the us population has skyrocketed from the late 1800s onward!

Carpool or take public transit to hiking trailheads instead of driving my car by myself. Eat red meat rarely. Add my voice of support whenever my city, county, or state consider any action that would reduce carbon emissions. Be kind to others who are trying to do the best they can, and live by example.
Nice. And although it might seem like a sacrifice, you will actually be healthier, and concurrently more likely to be happier 😊 Ignore the haters. We need more virtue based thinking across society.
@@kmoses582I mean he’s not really wrong. We should be radically reducing green house gases when we’re actually exponentially increasing them. Also if you plan on following the extraordinarily unlikely path of saving the climate you need to acknowledge how astoundingly dire things are first, lol.
I subscribed a long time ago. I appreciate you. I've been a proud, dedicated tree-hugger since the late '70s, still not being listened-to here in Dayton, Ohio, USA. God I hope we survive another Trump presidency. Wishing you a peaceful, feastive period as well.
Thank you so much for everything you've done in 2024 - your channel is one of the very very best on the topic and one I recommend regularly to friends and family. Merry Christmas!
As we approach the great _crossover_ point, where sticker prices for EVs will actually be lower than their ICE Box equivalents, it will become an economic necessity for many to go the EV route, whether they give a fig about the climate or not. One thing to feel hopeful about, here in the US. Very, um, *_peaceful festive period_* to you as well. Thanks for all you do!
EVs do not reduce pollution all they do is shift it from 1st world countries to 3rd world countries . And the pollution in 3rd world countries is usually permanent . That pile of sulphur rocks left over from the mine leaches sulphuric acid every time water falls on it. The tailings dam the fails and kills an entire river forever plus all of the surrounding valley that depends upon the river . If the same mining & refining restrictions were placed ( and enforced ) in the 3rd world countries where the bulk of the minerals for EVs ( and lots of other stuff we just throw away ) then the price for an EV would go up at least 6 times if not 10 times .
Here in Albert Canada, our Alberta environment governing body have continued to allow businesses and individuals to delete emissions controls on vehicle to save money. They have never replied to me to answer why they allow this ridiculous situation.
Because any politician who makes the decision to truly hamper emissions and the use of natural gas or oil, will be labeled anti business and ultimately against the people by these powerful lobbyists in the respective industries. Electric use could be a somewhat viable alternative if most countries had a newer and better infrastructure along with an increase in green sources including nuclear. Unfortunately even countries like Germany have gutted nuclear so I'm inclined to believe that there is little hope even when it becomes glaringly obvious with our climate problem. Capitalism indeed served a great purpose lifting up so much of the world out of poverty but at what cost? As other countries have done so, they now too participate in heavy consumption of fossil fuels and exchange of goods only exacerbating our problem. I'm not sure where we go from here but it's evident that capitalism has served it's purpose as jobs dwindle and fewer countries are in dire poverty. I truly hope for a Star Trek future but I'm afraid we'll get a bleak, Terran Empire (In a Mirror Darkly, ST Enterprise S4EP18/19) future instead. I grew up watching Star Trek and unfortunately for me it gave me too much hope for humanity, ignoring much of our darker capabilities.
You should sue them in court, on behalf of every person in Alberta. That policy probably kills several hundred Alberta residents each year, and it adversely affects the respiratory health of everyone living within a quarter mile of a road.
They do it to allow old junkie 18 wheelers to keep operating, allowing nefarious number companies to run at bottom dollar rates with temporary foreign workers. But hey, deaths by those trucks is at an all time high across Canada
@1ProsperousPlanet unfortunately so do electric cars with 100% emission free sources. They use tires at 2x the speed and as they break down they release microplastics into the environment, as all tires do. But, it's still a huge step in the right direction.
Thank you Dave for all that you do to keep education and highlighting this existential threat to humanity! Wishing you and your family the best during this holiday season and for hope in the new year.
And yes, the last 2:59 if the video nails the real Number One Problem:: Not the degradational atmospheric and oceanic occurrences themselves, but rather the human greed, idiocy, and self-delusion that is and always has been the elephant in this particular room from the get-go.
We can ruin our economies trying to 'do the right thing' and end up in energy poverty - but India and China will simply carry on with their polluting ways. I'm tired of it all, the "Paris Accord" was always a joke... and will go my own way - we should give them nothing and act locally and independently, that's what the US did in Trumps last term and reduced USA emissions!!! How? Mostly by acting locally and independently e.g., replacing coal and oil with gas to generate electricity. (So this representation of Trumps policies is dishonest).
Happy new year, and thanks for the content that has been very well researched, not falling for clickbait headlines. Cant think of a better channel in that regard, well done, see you next year.
Well Bud, It starts with YOU . When that fridge does not work as well as it sed to, get it repaired . Not only will it be cheaper for you ( ant take a lot less time ) but 100% better for the planet. Ditto for the car , stove etc etc Make a pact, "no new cloths " for a full year ( undies excepted ) and see how you go . It is all these little things that make a difference . particularly when it is times 1 or 2 billion .
Thank you Dave for another great video and for your great work over the years helping us spread the truth about climate change, it's impact and the solutions we have to mitigate the problem. You give all of us hope that we will be able to avoid the worst.
Have to agree with Trump. Time to stop wasting money on nonsense climate solutions that accomplish little or nothing. We need a coordinated global effort with a budget in the trillions of dollars.
I 2nd your comment. We have 3 gas stations in our neighborhood and 1 just expanded its whole operation. I asked the owner if he'll install EV Charging Stations like I've seen in other RUclipsrs show and recommended more of them thru out the country (USA). The gas station owner says " NO one will buy gasoline." " 4:51 One person will buy an EV and another abd no one would need gasoline." I'm thinking to myself gasoline will be around for a LONG TIME and not everybody will switch to Electric. So they'll still be a need for gasoline and diesel to exist. (Especially since Donald J Trump is backed by the fossil fuels industry but has an EV OLIGARCH manufacturer as his SIDE KICK. ).
Hope? It's a mathematical certainty that temps will keep going up from around 14degs pre-industrial to 17, 18, 19+ in the near term. Which means civ collapse. Like the engineer said on the Titanic. This ship is made of iron sir. It CAN sink and it will.
