I read something like this somewhere. A clone trooper said this too. Why they trusted General skywalker so much. Bcs he would always be in the thick of the action with his men. He would never ask his troops to do something he wouldn’t do himself.

Rex says some of Anakind plans were reckless but worked, and Fives responds saying something like “yeah but general Skywalker is usually leading his men up in the front, not bringing it up in the rear”.

If they make a Darth Vader solo movie at any point, they should use this as the premise. It allows Vader to be the terrifying badass that we know him as, but gives us JUST enough humanity for us to relate to him as an audience.

just imagine giving him coffee and he couldn't drink it through the mask so he just force chokes you for not giving a device to drink it with
Bat Cena. The next intern brings Vader's Coffee to his meditation chamber. A few minutes later he gets called back in. Vader snaps at him and says 'This isn't Mocha! but the mix up in coffee isn't why I'm mad!' Officer 'Then why are you mad sir!?' Vader rotates the chair and brings up the Big screen behind him showing footage of the Officer in question by the coffee pot. 'You see that shit, you stirred in the sugar and creamer counter clockwise, not clockwise which is a standard with in the Empire, but do you know why all Empire personal have to stir clockwise!?' The Officer gulped 'Uhm...no sir... why!?' Vader slowly turned back towards the Officer and said 'Only a Jedi would stir their coffee counter clockwise!!!' Vader then sprang from his chair and began physically beating the officer. 2 hours later Vader dragged the bloodied corpse of the Officer to the bridge. Officer 2 'Vader what is the meaning of this!?' Vader then used the force to remove the blaster from the second Officer's holster and fired one shot through the head of the badly beaten Officer who lay in a puddle of his own blood on the floor. 'this man was a Jedi Conspirator! he....' Vader glanced back at the the coffee pot and seen six other Officers stirring their coffee counter clockwise 'Dear god they walk amongst us' Vader said and ignited his lightsaber.

its not that he wasnt a good guy, its that it showed weakness in Vader, if Palpatine saw him and the officer, he would force Vader to kill him, and his family, to try to keep his hatret and disdain strong
cr0wboi: It's likely. Except the burns ended Lekoff's career. Upon retiring Vader wouldn't have further contact with him anyways. Palpatine might have not considered it worth having the additional resentment towards himself worth removing a non threat already off the board. Plus Lekoff would be better served given a nice retirement package as a carrot to show how loyalty is rewarded amongst the officer Corp.
Vader seems to see himself in Lekauf. A loyal soldier with brash, self-sacrificial instincts, with great love for his family? Remember that it was Anakin's love for his family that CREATED Vader (his mother, Padme).

I'm honestly surprised his story didn't end with Vader being forced by Palpatine to kill him, and his family.
If he knew how much Vader respected this officer, it's very surprising to me that he would allow him to have even one source of compassion and kindness in his life, which could threaten the absolute (unlimited) power that the Emperor had over Lord Vader.
Perhaps before legends was scrapped, this was one of the things that kept Anakin alive within Vader.
If Palpatine would feel that the relationship between Vader and the lieutenant would make Vader a better weapon to wield, then he would not only tolerate it, he would endorse it, that is how the old fart operates
Bo Kvarv Except Palpatine would also figure out that weapon would eventually be pointed at his back.
The Sith are powered by rage and hatred, and Vader hated himself above all - forcing him to kill not only an innocent man, but an honourable one and his family, would give him that powerful weapon without the risk of Vader betraying him.
THAT was how the old bastard really operated, which is why it's all the more surprising to me that he survived and lived happily ever after.

If he would have seen Vaders reaction when Lecoth got burned. He surely would have taken action and still, forced vader to kill him. Because remember, he has forced Vader to do this kind of horrible stuf very often. I think if palpetine was there. He would have forced vader to kill the man. VADER Would have done it because is trust nad friendship with Lecoth would eventually be overwon by his fear for the Emperor.

One thing I like about Vader (and other characters) is how complex he is. Vader isn't just some mindless, evil bad guy. He's much much more than that. Same with Maul and Thrawn. Even Palpatine has some complexity to his character.
Palpatine was a straight psycho who torture bunnies for funsies. Vader at least had legitimate reasons behind his cruelty. Mostly.

Lance Curry Palps who was the most powerful sith ever (in my opinion), gave Anakin the chance to be his apprentice, a great honor! You know how many people would kill for that job? Plus, Anakin is the one that choked his pregnant wife and slaughtered children. So, he’s not exactly a great guy either. So even if padme lived she wouldn’t wanna be with him anyway

This was the Anakin in him. Vader respected officers like this one so I am not surprised he let him live
Vader respected soldiers, but not officers. You don't see him choking out Stormtroopers for failing him - and this guy was a lot closer to a soldier than most Imperial officers.

Unlike the manner in which Palpatine treated him, Vader didn't send people to try to kill Lekauf to prove he was the best sidekick Vader could have. He valued him as a friend, not just an asset. He was never completely evil.

I'm just picturing a landing craft coming outside his house one afternoon and he goes out to greet the troopers to rather be met by Vader. Watching this, I start remembering the adventures Anakin had in the clone wars together with everyone who was close to him, Asohka, Obi Wan, Padme, Jar Jar, R2-D2. He got really lonely after he became Vader so it cheers me up, him having a friend.

Well, the moment he saw how Vader reacted to Lekauf being injured by a rogue dark Jedi that Palps made - he was way too scared to do that, as he understood that killing Erf would straight up lead to Vader getting out of Sheev's control and kill Emperor.

This is one of the many things i love about Legends, stories like this one are amazing.
I’m very surprised by this. I’ve never heard of this character before, and to hear how Vader did light side care to him is amazing. He must have truly been the one person during that time whom Vader called a friend.
Before Padme died she said there was still good in Anakin. I like to think that Erv Lekauf was part of the reason why Vader returned to the light and was able to maintain what little of humanity he had left.
This kind of bromance (like Chewie's life-debt to Han) is the kind of deep friendship that I expected to be shown with Finn and Poe in The Last Jedi. Honestly if that friendship was featured in the movie, I probably would have forgiven its many, many, many flaws.

Sad fact: Jori served under Colonel Jacen Solo in the Galactic Alliance Guard and was one of Ben Skywalker’s best friends. He loved and admired his grandpa and was loyal to Jacen and Ben because the cousins were the grandsons of Darth Vader. He later sacrificed himself to save Ben during a mission.

I like to imagine that Vader insisted Lekauf retire after recovering from those burns; I think that when he saw himself in Lekauf during the accident, he didn't want to potentially rob the man of the one thing he himself wanted most; his family...
I can't help but think that Vader would get a bit quieter and sadder after that though. I imagine he'd occasionally have bouts of interior monologue like Morgan Freeman from The Shawshank Redemption.
