I was recommended this game by Steam when it was in early early access, and I read a review that called it "the perfect game for those people who give up on their Civilization cities after turn 75". I bought it immediately, and I've played over 300 hours since. There's something so nostalgic about the visuals of the game for me - it reminds me of Warcraft and other older games I used to play. And the gameplay is perfectly addictive for someone like me who has ADHD and struggles to focus for too long. It's an astonishingly well-made game by a small dev team, and I can't wait to see what they do next.
Now that you mention it, the visuals are very reminiscent of WC3, aren't they? Glad to hear you had such a great time with the game, I think it's a gem :)

It's a wild pairing of genres and even more amazing that it works as well as it does! I think you'd really enjoy it if you haven't played it already (plus, it's currently on a fat sale 🤑).
@@MEGAthemicro Yeah, I saw it's on sale! Tempting, although I told myself I would finish my current catalog before buying anything new haha. And I need to replay some stuff too, like Talos Principle 1... so little time to play everything haha.
Its really unique, interesting mix of pop with different needs and great artwork. Some bugs here or there but after a few hours of playing, its mosly positive

Haha 😅 every now and then I get tired of the traditional review format and experiment with something different. The first half of this review is more a narrative perspective of playing the game, and the latter half is typical review commentary.
@@MEGAthemicro I actually was going to comment on how much I enjoyed the first half of the video. Really well done! You grabbed my attention and it was a good way to help me (someone who hasn't played the game) understand what the game would feel like to play.

Primarily, because I'm an idiot :) I didn't discover the power of roads for longer than I'd care to admit, but now I can't imagine building a settlement without them.
Love roguelites but not a great fan of city builders. But I kind of like the management aspect of the game. I'll try it out since it's on PC Gamepass. Good review!

I'm on the verge of buying it but if there's no end game of sorts I don't think I will. I'm not just talking about a 'completion' of the story or something, but engaging post-game content as well. Are there such things that weren't covered in the video?
He mentioned that you play with different modificator and like other roguelites and roguelikes there are different tiers of difficulty that unlock progressively as you complete them. Those I like personally, it kept me playing Slay the spire until I manage tier 10

Oh, this has permanent upgrades then. Such a silly way to ruin a game.
A lot of these upgrades aren't just stats or passive buffs, but actual mechanics that introduce new buildings, production lines, and objectives... It's honestly the perfect way to integrate an upgrade system into a roguelike
