I’ve always hated USC because of these kind of games. I take great delight in seeing them wallow in mediocrity for many years now. One of the single most satisfying games of all time was Texas winning the natty over themn
@@thomasmint1761 I always loved USC for these kinds of game, even though I grew up on the east coast. They've had their days in the sun so their current mediocrity doesn't bother me much. And the Texas natty was a tough loss, but still a great game. For a good 7-8 year stretch in the 2000s they were easily the best team in college football. Great memories.
In 1977, Washington had a great QB that went on the win the Rose Bowl over Michigan, collect the MVP award and yet wasn't drafted by any NFL team because he didn't fit their description of an NFL QB - Warren Moon. Well, of course he went to Canada, dominated, and then had a HOF career in the NFL.
That was the first USC-UCLA game I remember watching. I was 9 and that was my intro to USC football, but I thought that was a day game. BTW, bad interference call and it cost the Bruins the Rose Bowl!
My beloved Ducks were in a tight race with the hated Beavers for the Bottom of the Barrel bowl. The Ducks looked like highschool players compared to the size of the Bruins.
I was there. What a night that was!
Washington went to Rose Bowl and upset Michigan
A ten year old kid fell in love with USC because of this game.

Stuffing it right in Carroll’s face, where his arrogance undid him. Just like in the Seattle Super Bowl loss

Falling in love with USC is your problem
UCLA finished 7-4 that season but was sanctioned by the NCAA a few years later for academic violations, thus resulting in the forfeiture of six games.

What poise by Bashore to give UCLA the lead late in the fourth quarter
the next year vs Notre Dame, another end of game drive and fg
Bad call on the PI. Would not have been called in the NFL.
2:17:42 Agreed......Total BS call against Great Defense......Ref had to retire nice from the windfall of Washington money that came his way....
Very astute of you to notice this was not the NFL…
Sound?
Those cheerleaders are on Social Security now

He was good at that
I forgot how truly horrible Chris Schenkel was as play-by-play. “USC was trailing 0 to 10”. WTF?
How about announcing bowling?
