Brilliant weekend Eddy, came up Friday morning had a full day/evening around the fantastic Bars and tap houses in Ouseburn. We came for the Wigan v St Helens game on the Saturday, your ticket covers all 3 games played that day for just £25.00! This was the forth time I have been to the Magic weekend in Newcastle and it gets better every time. Its the perfect venue, St James Park is a superb stadium and generates a great atmosphere. It is most importantly in the town centre which makes a massive difference. The accommodation, pub, restaurant choices are brilliant and all welcoming, the transport links are also very good. Long may it continue.

i traveled up from Hartlepool to the club shop yesterday to get my shirts for new season, i didn't realise it was magic weekend. It was crazy around the ground (crazy in a good way)..It was fantastic to see.
My M8 from Yorkshire got me into league years ago and I'm a massive Nrl fan 'It's the Australian league with 1 Kiwi team in it'. New South Wales are playing Queensland this Wednesday in the deciding game you should give it a watch. Hopefully getting to the world cup final or at the very least a few group games.

I would imagine if they didn't have all fans there they wouldn't have as large a crowd ?. Great to see what could become with many summer events at the cathedral . Brilliant video..
Great video Eddy, just like yourself I know more about Rugby Union than I do League but none of the less Magic Weekend is a great event not only for the sport but also for the region. Wish we had something like this in football even if it was pre season freindly matches like the Newcastle Gateshead cup back in 2004 I believe.

I'm a Southerner and one day at Elland Rd I was speaking to a fellow Leeds United fan who followed Castleford in the Rugby. He was telling me how much he hates Leeds Rhinos which surprised me. I thought that a Leeds Football fan would automatically support Rhinos but that's often not the case. It was nice to see them all together and having fun in the Sun.
@@TynesideLife There are thousands of them like that Eddie. A lot of Man U fans support Rhinos. I know Leeds United fans who follow Huddersfield for example. I think they tend to follow their local Rugby teams.
It is not really bizarre, the supporter may have been from Castleford so they would support the tigers and hate the rhinos in a rugby match. But in a football match the tigers and the rhinos would be United, because Castleford does not have a professional football team.
Bit of a deep one lol but in my option, segregation and Separation creates animosity in humans. I believe that in rugby opposing teams fans sit next to each other, where as football fans are separated. You see it all over, not just in football, a border of a Country is a good example. I'm a St.Helens lad but when it comes to Rugby league I actually follow their local rivals Wigan Warriors due to my dad and his dad. Also follow Newcastle in the football from my dads side as well. Rugby league is good just needs more eyes on it much better than union in my opinion

the title of rugby league didn't come in until 1920s, from its breakaway from the rugby union it was known has the northern union
