+Matías Pierdoménico Haha! I would laugh if I wasn't so upset about spending 100 Australian dollars on the game. I hope soon patches will bring improvements.
honestly he looks high as fuck in these interviews. like you could have asked him if he enjoyed fucking purple elephant hookers and he would have laughed and said "yes".
I'm actually surprised that you can even start the thing at all. At this point, with all the lies, I'd imagine pressing Start on the title screen would pop up an image of the Hello Games crew all giving the middle finger at the camera.
don't get me wrong i was excited but i never per-order games. there is no harm in waiting a week or two to see how the game is received. and im glad i did
Yeah the pre-ordering needs to stop. I worked at gamestop and it was sickening. It's all they cared about. And threatened their employees about, to force it down customer's throats. That and dlc for unfinished games are ruining gaming. There's a reason the most famous game characters are 10+ years old.
in this game a lot of features seem to be missing, but they said multiple times that it is no classical multiplayer and we should not think of it as a multiplayer game.
that's what I was thinking as well lol. Idk how I didn't notice it before but looking at it now and hearing him say yes to literally everything/mannerisms it's so obvious he's full of bs
He's probably just not a good public speaker, sweating and looking down searching for the answers. He's probably not a real "developer." He's one of the founders and in that sense, he's like Steve Jobs. He was selling the game to the world and don't really know everything. I can only imagine the faces of the real developers after all these interviews.
When Sean Murray is talking about the game, he sounds like a middle-schooler trying to think up his dream video game with his friends, just adding on all the features he wants with no regard to plausibility or actual technical restrictions. He was just throwing on features he knew he'd never get around to making. Except this wasn't some harmless middle school discussion, he was lying to eager customers of his.
I honestly feel he never meant to...I don't want to defend this game because yes, it has loads of features that were missing but for an indie team of 13 people and lots of legal issues and deadlines, they tried their very best. I also believe in its community of models who will make the game we were promised. Give it time, it might get better but for now we have an infinite world with not much to do...hope for the best?
Kunal Zetryte Watch the interviews closely. The interviewer asks about a lot of features that would be really dumb and extremely difficult to code for, but Sean Murray immediately promises that they'll be in the game no matter how dumb or impractical they are. I mean, interplanetary cross-breeding? Fuckin' really? What sane game developer would promise something like that? More important is the way Sean Murray is talking. He says things with just a little bit of uncertainty in his voice. If it were a game developer listing features or ideas he's already had for the game, he'd have no problem talking about them. But there's just a little bit of hesitation in his voice that implies he's literally making things up on the spot.
Sounds exactly like the Donald Trump approach. Just straight up appeal to basic feelings with the most basic approach possible. Throw out middle school ideas to complicated solutions and ignore all plausibility or technical restrictions. Be super vague, charismatic, say yes, Let people fill in the blanks, always be selling, and divert the conversation with some other dialogue when being confronted on not delivering. This guy could have a career as a politician. Classic Con man strategy.
and if the devs would drop the price to one then it would be actually worth it [i.e. $20]. I bought Rambo: The Video Game at MSRP but thought the game was overpriced for what it was (worth $20 tops) and Angry Joe had to rip at One Man's Lie like he ripped at Rambo. $60 for a rushed game is a ripoff.
You can't manually fly to another solar system. The dude needs to learn to interview better, instead of panic lying. There's videos of people trying to fly into the sun and after tons of real time hours it's clear the sun is just a background decoration.
+Tristan Mcgrady in his defense, he did say, "at the time yu can land on an asteroid" n technically you could stay in space attackn trader ships. ive collected every type of rss from them. bt yes. hes full of shit wit jist about verything else.
Ld Alexandrite Well you can't manually fly to the sun in the current solar system so you definitely can't fly to a new solar system. The only way is to open up the menu and select a star to 'warp to' which just brings you to a loading screen
You can hear the nervousness in his voice while he lies with that shit smerk & nervous chuckle "uhhhhhhhhh well" "uhhhmmmm well" "eeeeeeehhhh yeah" every fuckin question 😂
i have been to many planets that were similar.. how long have yu played for? 10hrs? if youre gon biitch bout it at least have something credible to biitch about like... animals dont attack each other that rhino looking creature that jumped thru destructible flora? yh that shiit dont happen either. bt be real planets like that one exist. way more often than what was originally stated in his previous interviews. (which im sure they changed to make less dull n boring)
+eddykruger ive put in maybe 60 hrs? im no where near the center either, just explored many planets. i think its safe to say there is no rhino lookn creature and they def. dont chase yu n break destructible trees/brush etc
+eddykruger if its any consolation to yu, if yu keep playing, yu will see planets that resemble the planets in their trailers. so i wouldnt call that a flat out lie.
Actually, about planet namek. Even though the anime screws up timing, in reality it was probably 5 minutes. Why? Kaioken. It lasts for a single heartbeat, yet in dragon ball z could last for a very long time. It's because the fighters move so fast that even a heartbeat is a long time. So it could have very well been five minutes. Unfortunately, the speed at which the fighters move would make dialogue impossible, so they just ignore that part. I'm fun at parties I swear!
A year in mars is two years on earth since Mars is further away of the sun than we are. All planets have different senses of time since it all depends on how fast the planet spins and how far away it is from it's sun so when you say that Frieza was lying.. he wasn't.. you just failed to realize that Namek has different senses of time but i came to save your life just now. Thank me later.
It sounds like he is procedurally generating random answers. "Yes..." "No..." "Sort of..." "You could, but... "Hehehehe" "hahahahahha" "Yeah" Maybe he is a procedurally generated AI himself. Who nows?
Fallout 4 price was more in par with the actual product, but still was pretty bad, at least they didn't overhyped nobody, they showed a trailer and released the game like a week after.
Calling it a tech demo is a bit unfair since there are so many players spending a significant portion of their day in the game since launch. Tech demo would suggest that it doesn't hold interest for more than a couple hours at best. That it didn't deliver on everything promised, suggested or implied, is certainly a fair criticism, but it still appeals to and holds the attention of a significant portion of the gaming community.
That means the gaming community at large is retarded, which it is. It's full of little kids and autistic manchildren on welfare and doting parents. That's why people like Sean can exist in this industry. The best part is that anyone who calls themselves a "gamer" usually feels like they owe a company something even after having given them money, so that's why reddit and youtube is full of retarded people vehemently defending the game, kind of like you.
A fairly popular theory going around right now is that they actually made a better game (doubtful), but it was just impossible to run on a PS4 which is the equivalent of a low end 2011 laptop, so Sony forced them to use an old build without most of the features to make it just barely run. Then again there's the Stephen Colbert interview where Sean shows off several planets as a "demo" but they're clearly hand crafted as he never actually types in a name for any of the stuff he's naming.
+Google Videos Please keep your mouth shut when you know nothing about developer competence, tram sizes, budgets, or console hardware specs and ESPECIALLY how they work.
Crossbreeding between planets? Like why the fuck would you even promise a dumb feature like that? The interviewer was joking when he asked... This guy just can not say no.
+Snorri Þorvaldsson you don't simply "joke" while replying a question no matter how dumb, you can laugh! But lying is promising lies, and false advertising, imagine this kind of thing in a car or house you're buying. Will the brakes work even if Im drunk and high and keep accelerating? -Yeah lol. You could sue and get paid, I really hope he gets real losses, this is unacceptable.
+Juan Rocha So it was okay for the interviewer to joke around but Sean is not allowed? Makes total sense, man. Anyway, I'm not gonna waste time arguing with you. Our opinions are different, I'll leave it at that.
+Snorri Þorvaldsson If something is illogical to answer you have the option to lie or at least make a VERY sarcastic lie. He didn't. And I understand why you want to end the argument.
I understand that we shouldn't crucify him. However, picture this: A car company promises a car that does hands free parking, bluetooth audio, and 6 person capacity, but sells a car equivalent to a 1994 Toyota Camry. I would be pretty upset that they sold something that was completely different than they promised. This goes with any other product. He brought this upon himself.
you feel bad for a liar and a thief? See, thats one of the big problems in todays world. Dont feel bad about him getting repercussions for his actions. He deserves every once of hate he gets. That man became an instant millionaire off of the flat out lies to tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of people. The author says he shouldnt be lynched or whatever and I agree on that one. However, he should face enough litigation to where if he DOES make another game, every single penny of profit should be sent out to the people who bought NMS on day 1 based off of his lies. Even after the PS4 version came out, he pops off that you cant base your judgement off of that release adn there would be massive changes with day 1 of the PC. Instead, we got a crap game that wouldnt run on most systems which looked -exactly the same- as the PS4. No, this piece of shit is nothing but a stain on the game industry and should NEVER be allowed to work in the field again. Hopefully he will be flipping burgers in a couple weeks
and yet if you didnt pre-order and bought it at launch, you were STILL lied to since the devs refused to give review copies out because the Knew they were Lying about the content of the game. Hell, they are continuing to lie about the game to this day. Their ads continue to use videos and such which show features that quite literally exist no where in the game.
the problem or more the "question" is : even if his team thought it could accomplish everything he said (they must be real stupid to overestimate themselves this much since the game isnt even half done ) than why didnt they give another interview before the release to state the truth and give the players some real information ? or why didnt they just lower the price to 10-20 euros ? they could have said "we are really sorry , we overestimated us with this first big project of us , and we have to release the game . so the game will be only early access with less (following) futures . though its cheaper now and we will give you the missing futures with dlcs from time to time . " and everything would have been fine . but they fucking continued to lie , they just betrayed all the people who buyed the game for full price . because they wanted the money . and if you betray people for money you should face some consequences . there are a lot early access games out there that do not have much more content than this raw material but they are at least honest and call themselves early access games for around 20 dollars . in this case they should go to jail for there lies . i curse them all for playing with our hopes and dreams for some shitty money .
+Kliersheed you have to keep in mind a big company cares about the money they get and not so much the response they get. it's simple bait and switch and nothing is done in the gaming world about it sadly though I'm sure if someone put enough time effort and money into it they can find a way to win a court case against them but all in all it wouldn't even be worth it so they're just gonna get away with the quick bit of money they made off the hype train that just couldn't wait for some good reviews to come out
+Bailey Herbert Sony just did distribution for them. They had nothing to do with the development or publishing of this game. Sony had absolutely no say in this game. Hello Games are the only people to blame.
+Bailey Herbert Dude, Sony had no say in this game at all. They were only the distributor. They do not own the IP, they did not publish the game, they didn't develop the game and they let Sean choose exactly when he wanted to release it. I could care less about the game. I haven't played it and I won't. But it's usually the publishers fault, unfortunately Sony didn't publish it.
werent they forced to release the game? Im sure if they had more time, they would have waited longer, but it was their only window to get backed up by sony
@@MyouKyuubi Yeah they were, by pressure. If they didnt realase the game when they did, Playstation would not have been hyping up the game like they did. They took the opportunity. So your whole emphasis on "indie company" if irrelevant since you cant see the bigger picture of what really happened
This. Pre-ordering does not benefit you the consumer in any way, shape or form. If anything it incentivizes companies to actively screw you over. Take for instance SF5 that had pre-order exclusive costumes. So these costumes were created before the game was released....as in, within the development cycle....but even if you pre-ordered, you were only given ONE....not even the whole set. What sort of fucking bullshit is that? There are of course far more grievous examples, but I'll just that as a little appetizer. Fuck pre-orders and fuck dlcs. Rather than milking one game, they could/should have been working on a new game, like back in the glory days of gaming before dlc.
RalphInRalphWorld Whether the update is decent or terrible doesn't change the fact that there are still so many people chatting shit about the game, who don't really know anything about it. I wish people would actually discuss the genuine problems with the game, rather than assuming apocalypse
Rupert Carter That's subjective. If you watched the most recent trailers to the game's release, everything in those trailers is a reflection of the game. If you watched one, obscure interview from months before and ignored the rest of the official information, it would have been significantly more disappointing.
Thyrell why because im not a blind rage-induced hater who has nothing better to do than throw insults at people who can see things with clear eyes. Im not going to throw slurs at you because my parent didnt raise me to be a piece of shit. start acting like a decent human being please.
"Blind rage induced hater that does nothing but throw insults at people who can see things with clear eyes" I'm sorry, I think you're acting a bit like Sean here, but with a smidge of hypocrite added to it.
Shade please explain with your all might wisdom...im not the one goign around throwing slander and insults around. I merely responded to a person making stupid claims because of a persons actions...some people get nervous and have a hard time speaking yet people think hes lying because of that...do you know how stupid and irresponsible that is?
Im no a gamer, i dont follow game news, all i heard was the whole creator lies and game that didnt meet the hype or expectations and i left it at that, a failed game no need to look further into it. But man was i wrong, i picked it few weeks ago, the amount of work creators put into this well after they got ridiculed is outstanding. They couldve taken the money and left. Honestly I have respect for those guys. Makes me wonder if they delayed launch a bit maybe non of this would’ve happened.
This is not a "redemption story". Making a shitty 60$ game and waiting fucking 4 years to have the full game = being a fucking scam. And if you don’t think that, you’re an idiot and degenerate.
@@darkbydesign1031 watch internet historian video where he explains how Sean’s actually a good dude, who’s just socially awkward which causes him to just smile and say ‘yeah’ to any questions he’d asked, even if that’s the wrong answer.
+SoloJones Also, I've come across two other players trails. One didn't even claim discoveries. The other, was naming stuff childish, crude names.. This game needs the cull, I'm not into landing on planet tidy bowl. Let the haters leave.
Has sean given any interview recently NOW after the release of no man's sky? srsly Sean is prob. the most hated person in the gaming community right now, making up so many lies 18 quintillion lies to hype up his game and now he has made enough $ he ran? no apology or anything? if this guy ever shows up on the next e3 to announce his next game, ppl will hella BUHHH sean out Ive been A gamer for 25 years ffs Im really mad right now
where is he paying ? besides all the hate he gets , hes doing the same as always . the problem or more the "question" is : even if his team thought it could accomplish everything he said (they must be real stupid to overestimate themselves this much since the game isnt even half done ) than why didnt they give another interview before the release to state the truth and give the players some real information ? or why didnt they just lower the price to 10-20 euros ? they could have said "we are really sorry , we overestimated us with this first big project of us , and we have to release the game . so the game will be only early access with less (following) futures . though its cheaper now and we will give you the missing futures with dlcs from time to time . I haven't seen any interviews w/ Sean lately. It's like he vanished into the night, laughing maniacally with all our money in pocket. He had to have known people would be angry when they realized how much he deceived everyone. If it was a legit misunderstanding, he would've been right out there trying to apologize and make it right, but he hasn't been. Instead it's fallen on Steam and Sony to clean up the mess, offering refunds, etc.
Defining characteristics of pathological lying include: The stories told are usually dazzling or fantastical, but never breach the limits of plausibility, which is key to the pathological liar's tactic. The tales are not a manifestation of delusion or some broader type of psychosis; upon confrontation, the teller can admit them to be untrue, even if unwillingly. sounds familiar ?
Croktor The Dragonborn you don't know what a liar is if you think trump is...let me guess you got your 'sources' from US media which are the actual liars
@@SoloJones Is it possible for you to make an updated video? A few (And only a limited few) of those features are now actually in the game, like multiplayer, but most of them are still missing. I'd like a video i can link to the forgetful people who keep complimenting Hello Games on updating their game (Even though they've been half-assing it and been really slow to do it), to remind them that Hello Games are scammers and should not be praised for anything. xD
@Riceball Yeah, 5 years after that fiasco of a release, the game has 25% of the features that were promised to be in the game at launch. That's false advertisement.
Maybe you're right. It's a really fitting song. Oh well, I'll remember it for next time I have to make a long compilation of a game developer lying. Shouldn't be too long!
Five years later I can tell you that you are correct. Barely anyone knows or remembers this game. On a day to day basis more people play an ancient game like TF2 than this pathetic game.
Todd Howard has been at it for years and coined catch phrases such as "it just works" and "See That Mountain? You Can Climb It." Sean Murray has a long way to go to catch up to Todd.
But at least you could actually do everything they showed in the trailers in Fallout 4 and Skyrim. At the very very worst I'd call Todd Howard an exaggerator, but this guy is lies through his teeth.
Honestly even after the update im still disappointed with the game. Sure everything has slight differences in appearence, but it all feels the exact same. A tiger creature with 3 heads and 7 legs will act the same way a panda creature with fourteen eyes and two legs will. Its not the fault of the makers of the game, its just not realistic to design such a massive universe that doesnt feel the same. They shouldnt of advertised the game as a triple A game and they maybe should of made 5-6 extremely detailed and large planets rather than billions of boring ones
dude its the NMS hate squad thats running rampant not the defenders, its become fashionable amongst edgy teens to hate on a game they have no interest in
I would suppose that he really did have the ambition to add all these things, but realized it was undoable and, perhaps in combination with release date pressure from Sony, decided the current build would 'have to do.' He most certainly seems like someone who was not ready for all the media attention and is just nodding along with all the positive publicity he was receiving. Inexcusable, and this should warrant refunds, but certainly not malicious, I'd say.
@@Ptrrrrrrrr there is no part of the game where you can land in freighters but if you are in a asteroid belt you can jump of a frigate then you can jump on it, there is also a full multiplayer
@@username.exenotfound2943 What about the evolution and the biotopes? That was most disappointing to me. He seemed to suggest there would be simulated evolution.
am I the only one who thinks that he's actually telling the truth, but the game that was released was simply not finished yet? And he was unaware of how much stuff his team had worked on that was simply not ready yet?
Some of the stuff he said seems to have been a lie, but I reckon he was either overly optimistic about development or he was talking about features that existed but were then pulled from the game before release. Either way, the game is awesome now so yeah.
Theres no question in my mind that the biggest mistake Hello Games made, was taking the deal that let them release this game on Playstation 4. A 15 man crew should never have been expected to make these sorts of promises, while also sticking to a rigid deadline no doubt set by Sony. I have the game. I love the game. But this game needed to be a PC-only early access release until it was refined enough to release on console. I blame Sony, 100%.
Why blame Sony? Its not Sony's fault that they were dumb enough to take that deal as if it was something they were ready for. They screwed the players so that they could make more money.
I know this is an old comment, but you need to know that the reason why they released the game in the state that it was, is because they literally ran out of money. They released it so that they could use the profits from the game to finish it. Sean, himself, said that about 2 years ago, at a conference.
I bet Sean Murray watches videos like this to motivate himself some more in developing NMS ... even though it has far surpassed expectations at this point.
With the most recent update they did add most of the thing he said in not saying he was right and it did not justify the main game release but at least they did not give up on the game
Just wanna point out in 2023 the game has become one of the best gaming redemption stories ever, is popular and continuing to grow and now features almost everything mentioned in this video. It took them years but people love this game now and they got it beyond what they promised
That doesn't change the fact that this company had no issues selling a non-functional game. And they raked in so much money that they didn't even have to make another game to stay afloat.
most of the eye-candy from trailer still isn't in the game.. believable animals, warring factions etc. Procedural generation is extremely poor. I wish they just make 1000 planets but handcrafted the procgen for them.
Darth Sceledrus Why? Hello Games could have told Sony that there was no way they could do it in the timeframe they were given, so Sony gave them a month or two extra, but nothing more so thye had to scratch a lot of features.
Just for anyone watching this NOW, I just want to say how this guy has TOTALLY changed. He is adding a whole TONNE of content in a few days including VR and taming.
"It goes from day to night and night to day. and that's because we're orbiting around the sun, like a real sun." 0:29 There's some astronomical confusion or ignorance here. I won't insult my reader's intelligence by explaining why. and also, a lie
I dont think Sean is a liar or a bad person, i just think he let his own enthusiasm get ahead of the reality of the development and schedule. It certainly was not meant maliciously in my opinion.
Sure, so can I sell you this overpriced car, but without engine, tires and windows? Then after you pay me your money, ill just say I was little too exicted.
That's an unfair comparison. It's not like the missing features were so massive. They were all minor features, outside of the hint of multiplayer. Using your comparison, it would be more like; Here's a brand new car for $10,000. It's spacious, has good AC, lots of leg room, comfortable interior, and a great design. Oh, but don't mind the lack of a center console. We didn't think it would be that important to listen to music or control your AC/heat temperature manually. That's more accurate. Yeah, it sucks, but it's still a car. No Man's Sky is still a game, it's just missing some things that would make it much, much better.
Luke Puffer Yeah, I've cleared it too (Well, getting to the first center), and I thought it was... well... fine, for what it was. Disappointing, for sure, but I was still pretty sucked into the planets and space flight. And the missing features are not that massive, especially when the main advertisements for the game were the 18 kajillion (I know it's a fake number) planets and being able to fly seemlessly from planet to planet. That was the main features, for sure, but I think too many people were hoping for a Mass Effect experience from this indie team. I personally didn't expect that at all, so my disappointments were simply not being able to do small things like run into other players, land on asteroids, and join factions. None of those features are "massive" by any means, but they would have definitely made the experience a little more fun. And calling for Sean Murray to die is excessive. C'mon. Be a little more mature than that.
I wonder, they showed so much shit before release, so they must have coded it all in right? Why not just add it to the finished product? Shouldn't be that hard I think..
Thats part of the lies... They didnt code that at all, they just scriptet it for trailers and presentation to make people believe it would be in the game. Maybe they planned to add it later, but i dont think so.
whotf cares but like, all those ships being shown. He showed some so they had to spend time creating them right? I just dont understand.. I feel like they put more time in promotional content than actual content
YourBuddySimon Yes they created them, but they didnt creat an a.i., paths, destruction models etc for those. You are right about the last part. Thats also part of the lies. They said it would be the best game ever and made it look like that but never planned to actually make that game. They made just enough game to not be sued. Like building a hollow house facade, selling it for a full price and then running away after you step inside.
You'd be surprised how much convention content you have to throw away. Much of it is just facades that only work in specific situations, and even the stuff that does work is buggy and not optimized for regular gameplay.
+masked man he didn't lie. He just didn't meet the expectations and vision that he set for the game in time for sony's demanding release date. It'll all come through updates
+deflated dong +deflated dong it's called Sony. He has a contract with Sony that keeps him from saying real things. If he says anything that will reduce the sales of the game, Sony will blame him and he could get in tons of trouble. There's a video by DM21 gaming that explains this much better than I can to be honest. At least the game will be updated to include most of the missing features later on.
Are those star wars style mech things at 1:40 actually in the game? Theres a picture of one on the back of the case too but I never encountered one in my time with the game. The same goes for the dinosaur and the ship battler on the back of the cover. I never saw anything like that :(. I really liked what the game was trying to be and I enjoyed my time with it (although now I'm done I shan't go back unless the game gets major changes to it) , but it just sucks that the marketing and promotional imagery seem to br complete misrepresentations of what the game looks like.
@@bait5257 You sir are the nit picker, the side battles are plenty large when you know where to find them. Was Sean absolutely blazed during these interviews? He sounds like he's just making stuff up off the top of his head.
that's what I was thinking as well lol.
I would pay handsomely for a video showing the developers' reactions to these interviews.
+Okana Adonis YESSSS
Theyre the one who told him to lie first of all lol
Wow Sean here might have a bright future in politics.
Psalm Weems 😂😂😂😂
Actually it's a bright future as a developer. :)
Next gen Peter Malneux or however you spell his last name.
Hello my name is Peter Molyneux and I had nothing to do with the development of No Man's Sky. XD
Sounds exactly like the Donald Trump approach. Just straight up appeal to basic feelings with the most basic approach possible. Throw out middle school ideas to complicated solutions and ignore all plausibility or technical restrictions. Be super vague, charismatic, say yes, Let people fill in the blanks,
always be selling, and divert the conversation with some other dialogue
when being confronted on not delivering. This guy could have a career as
a politician. Classic Con man strategy.
My 3 foot pool I bought at Walmart is deeper than this game.
+ it's cheaper
and if the devs would drop the price to one then it would be actually worth it [i.e. $20]. I bought Rambo: The Video Game at MSRP but thought the game was overpriced for what it was (worth $20 tops) and Angry Joe had to rip at One Man's Lie like he ripped at Rambo. $60 for a rushed game is a ripoff.
and i bet it doesn't make u leave the pool and start over when u reach the rubber duckie in the center
Wide as an ocean deep as a puddle that's what this game is
Lmao!!! Daaaaamn!!
Duck Sean, the answers to 90% of these questions are "no that's not in our game."

You can't manually fly to another solar system. The dude needs to learn to interview better, instead of panic lying. There's videos of people trying to fly into the sun and after tons of real time hours it's clear the sun is just a background decoration.
Yes, land on the asteroids that are smaller than my ship. Suuure. Play the whole game in space huh. Trading what? Thamium9?
I found an asteroid that was huge. tried to land on it and broke my shield. lame

I thought flying into a sun and flying to another solar system are different things lol.
Ld Alexandrite Well you can't manually fly to the sun in the current solar system so you definitely can't fly to a new solar system. The only way is to open up the menu and select a star to 'warp to' which just brings you to a loading screen

none of the planets I went to ever looked like the ones in the "gameplay footage".
i have been to many planets that were similar.. how long have yu played for? 10hrs?
if youre gon biitch bout it at least have something credible to biitch about like...
animals dont attack each other
that rhino looking creature that jumped thru destructible flora? yh that shiit dont happen either. bt be real planets like that one exist. way more often than what was originally stated in his previous interviews. (which im sure they changed to make less dull n boring)
+eddykruger i stand corrected then.
+eddykruger ive put in maybe 60 hrs? im no where near the center either, just explored many planets. i think its safe to say there is no rhino lookn creature and they def. dont chase yu n break destructible trees/brush etc
+Drew Nelson I'm at my third solar system and yeah there is nothing like that, it'd be nice if you could visit that planet from the trailer
+eddykruger if its any consolation to yu, if yu keep playing, yu will see planets that resemble the planets in their trailers. so i wouldnt call that a flat out lie.
This game was a bigger lie than when Frieza said Namek would explode in 5 minutes.... 3/10
Film Theorist?
Nope just knew that myself, seeing as kaioken lasts an abnormally large amount of time.
lmfaoooooooo
A year in mars is two years on earth since Mars is further away of the sun than we are. All planets have different senses of time since it all depends on how fast the planet spins and how far away it is from it's sun so when you say that Frieza was lying.. he wasn't.. you just failed to realize that Namek has different senses of time but i came to save your life just now. Thank me later.

Todd Howard ain't got shit on this guy
*****
He told us sweet little lies
_It just works._
Jesse, search for "SHOCKING Interview with Sean Murray [No Man's Sky]" by Pepperoni Sundae
Fallout 4 price was more in par with the actual product, but still was pretty bad, at least they didn't overhyped nobody, they showed a trailer and released the game like a week after.
Except Todd Howard isn't selling games that are oceans in length and only as deep as a puddle.
I think they just released an unfinished tech demo and called it a game what a joke

At what point did he promise that you could? You said it yourself, the interviewer was joking. He joked back with his reply.

Peter was/is so much worse. Did it for decades.
Peter did lie a lot, over many different games, but not this many lies over one game. This video would even make him cringe!
+James Balmer the first fable or project ego was probably the biggest all around gaming lie ever, this is just as bad actually.
+Jim26D at least the first fable ended up being a pretty good game in its own right.
You spelled Todd Howard wrong .
I understand that we shouldn't crucify him. However, picture this:
A car company promises a car that does hands free parking, bluetooth audio, and 6 person capacity, but sells a car equivalent to a 1994 Toyota Camry.
I would be pretty upset that they sold something that was completely different than they promised. This goes with any other product. He brought this upon himself.
We should not crucify him
Yup, he lied a lot. But in a way I feel sad for him. He is maybe doomed for the game industry.
you feel bad for a liar and a thief?
+Skool Yet all of this was pre release. pre ordering based on pre release is quite stupid. You base your purchase based in the final product.
and yet if you didnt pre-order and bought it at launch, you were STILL lied to since the devs refused to give review copies out because the Knew they were Lying about the content of the game.
and everything would have been fine . but they fucking continued to lie , they just betrayed all the people who buyed the game for full price . because they wanted the money . and if you betray people for money you should face some consequences . there are a lot early access games out there that do not have much more content than this raw material but they are at least honest and call themselves early access games for around 20 dollars . in this case they should go to jail for there lies .
i curse them all for playing with our hopes and dreams for some shitty money .
+Kliersheed you have to keep in mind a big company cares about the money they get and not so much the response they get. it's simple bait and switch and nothing is done in the gaming world about it sadly though I'm sure if someone put enough time effort and money into it they can find a way to win a court case against them but all in all it wouldn't even be worth it so they're just gonna get away with the quick bit of money they made off the hype train that just couldn't wait for some good reviews to come out
Three words. Class. Action. And, lawsuit.
he has a solid defense against anything generated it has a chance of not appearing for other features no idea

Go ahead and report to me when it's done.
He didn't lie, he just delayed the truth
“Its evolving! Just.. backwards!”

I wish I could've predicted the massive amount of lies. I guess I learned my lesson. I will not pre-order products from non-reputable companies.
+Nope Nopington Don't pre-order ANYTHING ever again.
IKR?! No Man's Sky is a prime example why you NEVER pre-order, no matter how amazing and hyped the game looks to be in the demos.

Defining characteristics of pathological lying include:

A tiger creature with 3 heads and 7 legs will act the same way a panda creature with fourteen eyes and two legs will. Its not the fault of the makers of the game, its just not realistic to design such a massive universe that doesnt feel the same. i didn't know NMS existed until it showed up all over youtube... i had literally 0 expectations, so i love it
I would suppose that he really did have the ambition to add all these things, but realized it was undoable and, perhaps in combination with release date pressure from Sony, decided the current build would 'have to do.'
He most certainly seems like someone who was not ready for all the media attention and is just nodding along with all the positive publicity he was receiving. Inexcusable, and this should warrant refunds, but certainly not malicious, I'd say.
No man sky eventually would have what that shaun promised it would just take far longer and then Sony forced them to release it early
@@username.exenotfound2943 Is it now what Shaun discusses in this video? Really?
@@Ptrrrrrrrr there is no part of the game where you can land in freighters but if you are in a asteroid belt you can jump of a frigate then you can jump on it, there is also a full multiplayer
@@username.exenotfound2943 What about the evolution and the biotopes? That was most disappointing to me. He seemed to suggest there would be simulated evolution.
@@Ptrrrrrrrr probably not then again I don't spend much time on planets
am I the only one who thinks that he's actually telling the truth, but the game that was released was simply not finished yet? And he was unaware of how much stuff his team had worked on that was simply not ready yet?
You're an idiot
daviddaaannggg lol why?
Rupert Carter what are you talking about?
these videos should now stop appearing among my suggested clips. it's been long since the disappointing release. the game is playable now.
Oh my goodness. This guy is a pathological liar hidden behind a layer of "Awww, shucks."
Some of the stuff he said seems to have been a lie, but I reckon he was either overly optimistic about development or he was talking about features that existed but were then pulled from the game before release. Either way, the game is awesome now so yeah.
To be honest. I think every time he'd say yes he was thinking "Oh shit thats a good idea. I should add that to the game " But then forgot.
Not forgot, ran out of time
Nice to come back and see that most of these things are now true to the game.
No...not true. Still full of lies, but they did add more features. Just didn't add the advertised content.
Dude, he straight up lied, this wasn't Sony's fault
Josh Plays! You are so dumb xD
I know this is an old comment, but you need to know that the reason why they released the game in the state that it was, is because they literally ran out of money. They released it so that they could use the profits from the game to finish it. Sean, himself, said that about 2 years ago, at a conference.
The number of things that are in this video that are NOW in the game is actually quite staggering.
No Mans Sky biggest dissapointment 2016
Biggest disappointment since ET came out.
IT wasn't too much of a disappointment. I still like it. Better than AAA games that give 10-12 hours of gameplay for the same $60, NMS gave me 40+
Gabriel Leonardo Sean murray will wire the money to your account as soon as possible
retropirate1 Hahaha. Nope. Just because i like the game doesn't mean i'm getting paid
Don't be so sure, there's still COD Infinite Warfare, BF1, and Titanfall 2
I bet Sean Murray watches videos like this to motivate himself some more in developing NMS ... even though it has far surpassed expectations at this point.
Sean - "Ya at the moment you can land on an asteroid."
Interviewer - "um can I see?"
Sean - "Too late, the moments passed!".
Interviewer - "..."
Someone should make an updated Version of this Video
I can proudly say the game is now worth $60
Actually, after all the updates, the game is closer and closer to what he have said.
Sean:"Hi, I'm awkward but charming."
You call that charming?
The solar system used to be realistic untill people complained about it or something
Yep. Testers said they got disoriented. Some even reported it as a bug due to not realizing they were disoriented.
@@josephkreifelsii6596 how could they possibly be disorientated?
Yes NOW nearly in 2020 we have some of the things he promised pre release in 2016...4 years later, we have a few of them.
what should i do with this $60 that i didn't spend yet? maybe buy some chinese or invest into some stocks, idk
It's considered unethical to own chinese people so I'd invest in stocks
deus ex
..
buy an annual game, like CoD or battlefield, perhaps assassins creed
good joke
With the most recent update they did add most of the thing he said in not saying he was right and it did not justify the main game release but at least they did not give up on the game
Also I did not buy the game immediately so I got it for $5
2:00 I like how he says "there's an infinite number of variations of ships" as he shows the variations on one page

@@soulmaster9481You replied to this seven years after launch 💀
I knew this game was too good to be true, there's no way we could have this kinda of game in 2016,well at least in 2020 maybe

I think Sony pushed them to release the game early, hence the missing features and unfinished gameplay.
Kulturarv the game kept getting delayed so that makes no sense
Darth Sceledrus Why? Hello Games could have told Sony that there was no way they could do it in the timeframe they were given, so Sony gave them a month or two extra, but nothing more so thye had to scratch a lot of features.
Kulturarv it got delayed about 3 times
Darth Sceledrus
Doesen't change anything, HG could have begged for a delay several times.

I haven't found a single ship that doesn't look like it was awkwardly build from left over lego sets.
Just for anyone watching this NOW, I just want to say how this guy has TOTALLY changed. He is adding a whole TONNE of content in a few days including VR and taming.

There's some astronomical confusion or ignorance here. I won't insult my reader's intelligence by explaining why.
and also, a lie
I dont think Sean is a liar or a bad person, i just think he let his own enthusiasm get ahead of the reality of the development and schedule. It certainly was not meant maliciously
in my opinion.
Sure, so can I sell you this overpriced car, but without engine, tires and windows? Then after you pay me your money, ill just say I was little too exicted.
That's an unfair comparison. It's not like the missing features were so massive. They were all minor features, outside of the hint of multiplayer.
Using your comparison, it would be more like;
Here's a brand new car for $10,000.
Luke Puffer
Yeah, I've cleared it too (Well, getting to the first center), and I thought it was... well... fine, for what it was.
Wishing for someone to die over a game shows what sort of child we are dealing with here.
Does anyone realize he's had like 3 years to do this game
I wonder, they showed so much shit before release, so they must have coded it all in right? Why not just add it to the finished product? Shouldn't be that hard I think..
Thats part of the lies... They didnt code that at all, they just scriptet it for trailers and presentation to make people believe it would be in the game. Maybe they planned to add it later, but i dont think so.
whotf cares but like, all those ships being shown. He showed some so they had to spend time creating them right? I just dont understand.. I feel like they put more time in promotional content than actual content
YourBuddySimon
Yes they created them, but they didnt creat an a.i., paths, destruction models etc for those. You are right about the last part. Thats also part of the lies. They said it would be the best game ever and made it look like that but never planned to actually make that game. They made just enough game to not be sued.
Like building a hollow house facade, selling it for a full price and then running away after you step inside.
whotf cares wow.. Cant believe that's even legal..
You'd be surprised how much convention content you have to throw away. Much of it is just facades that only work in specific situations, and even the stuff that does work is buggy and not optimized for regular gameplay.
And NOW! HAT OFF OF THIS MASTERPIECE
I agree
This goes to show you dont blame devs for this shit, you blame publishers.
@9ine9ine1ne stoopid watch internet historian’s video on nms, I think it should explain it.

Why didnt he tell us that all these features arent in the game before release? Isnt that lies?
