    I owned several Peaveys including a Rage. I always think they did a fine job of creating a tube-like distortion and good clean tone. I gigged with Peavey Bandits, Classics, etc. I also love the DiMarzios. I find they always seem to work well with Peaveys.

    I used this amp in lead channel and a tube screamer with gain at 1 and it's surprising good. I used a EQ pedal to tame the high and it's very more pleasant to my ears.
    I replaced the speaker with a Celestion Eight 15 lately, still in the broken in process. But the Blue Marvel sound good too, very similar to the new eight 15. I will see when it's broken in 😁🎸

    what a difference the cab and speaker make. The bandit with the t.dynamics set to 20% (which is 16w, close enough) is much warmer, beefier, and more full sounding. Especially with a speaker swap.

    Oh man I had a rage older than this as a youngling. I hated the damn thing. I got better tone plugging my guitar straight into an old home stereo amp from the 70’s. Which surprisingly actually worked and produced a very unique gain I’ve not replicated since. I accidentally blew that stereo amp up at some point in the early 90’s.
    My first “real” amp was a marshal valvstate 2x12 which was ok for a short while until I finally afforded a real tube amp.
    You kids coming up today have so much better cheap options for decent tone than us dinosaurs did.
    Keep rockin!

    The Steve's Special is a great pickup if you want to use tons of gain and keep clarity. The PAF Masters are about the best thing if you want to retain the woody mahogany tone of a PRS/Gibson style set neck without getting a bunch of muddy mids. It keeps the warmth but also has great brightness and clarity and harmonics. I'm not a fan of throwing high output pups in mahogany set necks and these are vintage output.

    This maybe true for your amp, but whats mote important is all of these amps are a little different. They all have a 'sweet spot' that you find by zoroing all the comtrols and one at a time running them min to max until you find about a 25% range where the tone/volume changes the most. Set all your controls in the sweet spot and work from there, not trying to make it do something it doesn't want to.

    try to put metal zone on the cd in. I Think will escape from pre-eq session of the amp, and goes straight to power amp section

    I really like the way a Peavey Rage sounds. It's a shockingly good amp, even. However, I go for trashier, rawer rock sounds. I've got a twisted fascination for obscure no-hit wonder mid 60s Brit Invasion-influenced rock, my fave examples sound really crude and I guess "ineptly produced", but since my tastes are the way they are, this sounds great to me. Maybe if I were into Pure Prairie League instead of The Sex Pistols, I might dislike this amp. lol.

    What is a better amp Fender or Peavey amp and does the Peavey rage amp have 2 channels?

    • @illbeinyourband
      @illbeinyourband  3 года назад

      Can’t speak to any fenders as I’ve never had one. The Peavey rage has 2 channels but there is no footswitch, it has a throw switch on the front.

    Great video ! I own a rage transtube 258 and I am thinking to upgrade the speaker. It comes with a blue marvel 8 inch 8 ohm speaker. Could I put a 10 inch speaker if its still 8 ohm? Will that blow up my amp?

    • @jacobsamano9761
      @jacobsamano9761 Год назад

      If it’s the same ohm your amp will be fine. The speaker just may be too big to properly sit or screw into the back but yes if it’s 8ohm just like the amp then you will be fine.

    • @BobBlec
      @BobBlec Год назад +1

      Is that a 8 ohm or 4 ohm speaker? From my understanding, a 10" speaker will JUST fit in the cabinet, but it's gonna be cramped!
      I just replaced the Blue Marvel in my own TT Rage 158 with a MojoTone AV8C 8", 4 ohm speaker; DEFINITE upgrade!!!

    • @jacobsamano9761
      @jacobsamano9761 Год назад

      @@BobBlec thank you for the comment. I tried to put an old spare stock 10” speaker I had from a Fender Super Champ XD combo and it just barely fit but I later found out it was an 8ohm speaker which means it wouldn’t have sounded right in my Peavey Rage 158 which requires a 4ohm load. Now I have a better idea what 4ohm speaker I could possibly get to upgrade the stock speaker in my Peavey Rage 158. The other guy needs to make sure he is using an 8ohm speaker for his Peavey Rage 258.

    Acabo de comprar uno de estos de segunda mano y tengo Chorus y Delay. ¿El distorsión suena mejor en este amplificador con el Delay?
    Otra pregunta, veo que este Amp. Suena brillante al equalizarlo, ¿Recomiendas no subir tanto los controles o se dejan lo más estandar posible? (Nivel 6-7)

    • @illbeinyourband
      @illbeinyourband  3 года назад +2

      I haven’t used delay or chorus with it. Play with all the controls and see what you like! I found the best sounds with the EQ closer to 12:00

      Hola. Tengo el mismo ampli, pienso que tenés que venderlo lo antes posible. Es imposible de ecualizar, tiene unos agudos insoportables que te acuchillan el tímpano. La única forma de "calmarlo" un poco es como recomienda el creador de este video, cambiando el parlante por uno de 10 o 12". De todos modos, no me parece que valga la pena la inversión.
