Hub and spoke design already exists in IR. All the express trains connects the hubs and local passenger trains acts as a spoke. But the thing is they need to improve the speed and punctuality of trains, to get the maximum efficiency.

Nice to know that we are going to collaborate with Switzerland but what about the humans. Unless we properly educate and develop our human resources, develop discipline and ethics, mere technology will not bring us at par with them.
But the biggest drawback to implement Hub & Spoke model in Indian railways is the time punctuality of IR. Suppose, I have to travel from point B to C through the hub A. Now my train from Point B to A (hub) will delay by few hours. So, I'll definitely miss my 2nd connecting train from point A (hub) to my final destination. And it must happen because all trains in India (except premium trains like Rajdhani, Vande Bharat, Shatabdi, Tejas) are delayed by few hours. Even in this winter, Premium trains (Rajdhanis) are also getting delayed by 6-10 hours. So, Hub & Spoke model could be viable in Aviation sector. But not in IR until the latter becomes time punctual.
I have visited Switzerland several times and find the SWISS RAILWAY one of the best for facilitating travel in a big way by connecting the Railway with Airline Services, Bus services and Boating on Lakes. The Trains run on time and the Railway Stations and the Trains are clean. Also in the Hilly areas they still retain narrow gauge trains on much of the country. In the hilly areas they have the Cog Wheel Trains to reach the top. Yes Swiss railway is great and lot can be learned form them.
Tunnel technologies are innovative . All the Top 20 rivers in India can be interconnected by bullet trains . One trillion dollars savings + fresh revenues annually can be generated . Great idea . Jai Hind !

The frequency of the Swiss trains is much lower compared to what India needs for serving our population. The tunnelling technology will definitely benefit to cut down long distances in the mountainous regions. Its a great development as India is focused on building a lot of infrastructure in northern areas like Kashmir etc.
