@@yourlearningcareer - got a role as a Learning and Development trainer 10 months ago (it includes a lot of Storyline, PPT and Rise as well as face-to-face teaching). Recently got promoted to Tutor/Assessor. Coming to this channel definitely helped me, no doubt.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I want to have a vision when I am starting with my ID work. I have a PhD in biology and am teaching as an adjunct. While, the tenure is rare all over the world, I want to be in academia and make my small contribution towards it. It is just that at the moment, I am not sure about the progress of the IDs professional path. I mean not the transition from junior to senior to manager position but in terms of work and growth opportunities. I would love to hear your thoughts on "how do you see yourself progressing after you start working as an ID?" Thanks again for your time.
In my current role as a Senior ID, my work and growth opportunities are numerous. I have different projects that I work on with many opportunities to try new ideas. There are conferences you can go to as well to meet and learn from others (e.g. ATD, Learning Solutions, DevLearn)
Another path to consider in ID is to freelance and/or have your own business. I never went that route but I think that could be a great opportunity for some.
Thanks! I agree that Storyline is not the best for every learner. However, what do you suggest if most of these companies purchase and require using Storyline for e learning?
If the jobs you are applying for require Storyline then you can get a free trial and get some experience with it. I would learn all about it first (watch videos, take a class, etc...) so you can maximize your time with the trial. I would have a course or two all mapped out on a storyboard or outline so you can jump right in and build something for your portfolio. You can also design a Storyline course outside of Storyline once the trial runs out. i.e. create a storyboard or outline for a Storyline project.
I think your videos would be better if you'd just position the camera so it's at eye level and we're not looking up at you.
I think that is one of a MILLION things I need to do make them better! 😁
