RICE, RICE BABY!!! RICEY JOB!!! GRAIN TRAILER ROLLOVER!!

  • Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Today, we have quite the predicament, again. It's harvest season and we love helping our farmers. Unfortunately, this farmer had a driver who failed to navigate a corner coming out of a field. The truck and fully loaded trailer of rice rolled over. This was quite the unusual situation for several reasons. First, most of the rice stayed inside the trailer. Second, the rear of the trailer was, quite literally, hanging in mid-air over a ditch, which had the trailer bending and buckling between the two hopper sections. There is a deep ditch on the side of the road where I have to set up the rotator as well as the ditch the trailer is laying over. So, we have narrow working conditions, which seems odd since it's in a large farm. However, we didn't have a lot of room to work with. The farmers were able to vacuum out some of the rice from the front hopper before their vacuum clogged. So, most of the load of rice was still inside the trailer when we attempt to upright it. We bring in our flagship Peterbilt 389X Miller Industries, Century 1150R heavy rotator towing and recovery unit, as well as our semi #17 with our TrailEze TE801 hauling our Taekuchi TL12 skid steer/track loader, and our Peterbilt 337 Century 4024, 20 ton towing and recovery unit hauling our air cushion trailer. The goal here is to bring the trailer up with as much rice contained as possible while also saving the truck and trailer. Will we be successful or will the trailer break in half??? Watch and see how we tackle this challenge!!!
We have a difficult and dangerous job and we take it very seriously, that doesn't mean we can't have fun and enjoy our work. We strive to be polite, professional, efficient, and safe...and still can have fun. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

I always feel sorry for farmers when a simple mistake can ruin a year's cultivating, drilling, fertilizing and harvesting, to tip the load into an irrigation ditch. I think the lesson to be learnt is to mark the edges of the ditch with some posts as the vegetation covers the edge.

I half expected that you'd have swung the trailer over a bit before rolling it, just to get a better alignment.

I don't know when rice is harvested, I was raised on corn, beans and produce but, this recovery was obviously done on a very warm day. Your crew is definitely learning what "sweat equity" is on this one Ron!
From my family to yours, have a safe and happy holiday season!
As always, God bless you, your crew and your equipment!
