Embrace+Thebes+Sov+Heartward is utterly insane. You can be struggling in fights, finish the Sentinel's Embrace, and then suddenly _nobody on your team dies._ The aura stack is just so good, especially if you're playing against people who are allergic to pen (so, the majority of players outside of top MMR).
Can confirm, just finished a conquest match 40-22 as soon as I got Sentinel's embrace, no one on my team died from that point on And yes the opposing team was not just allergic to pen, but avoided it and antiheal like the plague
Compassion in place of Sentinel's Embrace while sill using the other protection auras could become better, if significant %pen is common and/or another rebalance of the support starter upgrades.
It's even more op if used alongside lotus crown. With sylvanus or yemoja i utilize the exact same setup+lotus crown for free +60 prots on everyone, and on healing mages/enchanters like chang'e i switch out sov+heartward for some magic power(usually chronos+rod), just becouse embrace+thebes+lotus alone give you nearly 200 prots at all time, so in my opinion it's better to invest in power of your utility by increasing your healing/lowering cd - legit this set up allows you to play enchanter type characters on support without having to choose between being a full tank or falling behind engage supports late game
Man this format is great, gives you a good starting point and shows you a baseline of everything, please keep up this format, wast really sure of the carry roll rightnow so this helps me dig a bit more to see how to play it in ranked Nice vid duke.
Lol, that Ra. You guys literally won while he was complaining about throwing. Anyways, thanks for this vid. I won't have to change much of what I already play thankfully.
These types of videos are super helpful, especially people like me that don't keep up with the meta that well. Learning everything I need to know in an 11 minute time span about the current meta is a lifesaver.
I really appreciate this. My time in SMITE is often punctuated by spending weeks, or months, or every now and then a year or two between playing. So I've recently come back again, and while it's easy enough to grasp the new gods and items, exactly how the meta has changed and where it is now takes either a history book or a lot more playtime than I want to sink into just getting the basics. I'd appreciate a solid overview of some of the changes in this new patch, and any build advice you have for a lot of characters, even ones not necessarily in the meta right now. Particularly builds that can work well outside of Conquest, since there are so many modes to choose from.
Great video, man. I've primarily played Arena over anything else, but I've dabbled in Conquest, Joust, and Clash a bit. I think I want to start playing Conquest more frequently, so this was great to get an idea of where to start in the current season. I played LoL from about seasons 2-5, so I have a general idea on how to play MOBAs, but the character, item, and routing specifics are obviously considerably different. This helped a lot!
I love these types of videos. After a friend got me to return to smite in season 8 these really help me to catch up on what I have missed and how the meta has changed. Keep it up dude!
As someone who just decided to come back into smite a little bit late for the initial new season hype this is actually really helpful, I had a bunch of previous misconceptions like I only heard how strong manikins scepter is so I just assumed you built it on most junglers. The little snapshot is a great “just a heads up for the state of the game” good video!
Thanx Duke, been a viewer for a long time now, just wanted to leave a comment so you know I like the video premise. And can honestly say, your basically dead on with the video.
I considered including them, but figured ultimately they would make the format more confusing and take away from the simplicity of it. For example, some of the highly picked and banned gods don't have high win rates since most people don't play them that well. And that then opens up the conversation if these are actually the most valuable gods and so on. In more in-depth formats I'll definitely keep including the stats though!
Thanks for the video! Super informative as usual! I have a request, maybe it's odd... but is it possible to make a video about the proper use of Blink? I know many people understand when and how to use it but it seems like a shocking number of people do not. So tired of one out of position person with blink, already a ways down lane from their team, blinking in needlessly, dying... then spamming "Ok! Ok! Ok!" after they blink into a 5v1 and die because their team has no possibility of getting close enough to join in the fight. Seems like half the people with blink in my games just end up using it to get themselves hopelessly out of position in a spot where no one can help them at all, then rage. Just using Blink doesn't make you a hero or a pro, people don't know how and when to use it correctly half the time and maybe a guide would help!
Man I could not play since Christmas, before season 8. Iwas excited but for personal reasons I couldn't. I am really hyped to return from all these videos kind of feels like a different game
Aphrodite is so much harder than anyone thinks and all the people who only play meta characters try to play her and lower her winrate 😈 Also it's so annoying to see people trying to build her full damage in support, oh well more wins for me.
I like that the axe is falling off because it is more or less just warrior blessing again and i am a bit tired of using warrior blessing for so many seasons consecutively
As a arthur main I still feel his nerf doesn't make him as viable anymore rarely see him played. It's sad he's such a fun god to play. Last game I played him as a tank just whirling around cleaning up kills and taking all the hits for my team
Thats strange i use war flag a lot, especially when i use fenrir support , since it gives me a lot of speed to chase. Problem is the spartan which activate even with Fenrir's 2 -.-
I think War Flag is SOOOOOOO GOOD for me, its equally good as sentinel's but i think War Flag is more niche, and specific The only disappointment here, is the benevolence its not worth it :/ They need to make it just a "hyper farm item" not a "sacrificial hyper farm"
meh. Not really but some say other wise. You kinda wanna pick literally any mage for mid as of right now. She just doesn’t compete very well if you put her side to side with someone like scylla ra nu wa
I want to point out that you didn't say Cthulu in any lanes. It shows that he's not much of a dominant pick anymore, yet people keep banning him. I don't know if it's cause of season seven still and people haven't moved the bans over yet, or people are still afraid of fighting him. I'm just afraid he'll get overnerfed and never be played much anymore like what happened with Jorm
cthulhu is definitely still a dominated pick. He just didn’t include him in his top choices. These are statistics( win ratio) mixed with his base opinion and experience with these gods. It’s not gonna be all true. There can be simple bad games with cthulhu. In no way does that make him bad.
I mean, I think Set's a decent solo, but he's miles better in jungle right now since that gives him easy access to Bumba's Hammer which is literally his most broken form. You CAN achieve that in solo as well, but it's significantly more complicated since you have to skip starter and voluntarily put yourself behind for a while.
@@DukeSloth There's no reason to do Bumbas in solo. You can still go Warr Axe and destroy. Hell, you can go Manakin or Death Toll if you need, Set's just that good. Just because he's S in Jungle, doesn't mean he's not S- in solo. But to each their own.
@@tsohgallik yeah I'm going to have to disagree, set was broken in season seven before bumbas hammer was a thing, the addition of bumbas just pushes him to another tier of broken.
Duke we need more of this without question, only problem is please take Arthur out. He really does suck, he’s getting bodied by pretty much everyone. Hell Vamana and Mulan are starting to come back up
i’m a little sad they’re prolly gonna nerf janus. Should’ve not touched him at all. I’d rather have the inconsistent ability you could walk directly into to completely doge the ability itself than have the chance of him getting nerfed into the ground💀
Love the vidoe, but Cthulhu is still N1 solo laner in my opinion, i fight all those solo player deffintly cu chulainn à Cthulhu dominates its so bad, but thats my opinion tho
You mentioned Osiris being under the basic attacker category despite being generally considered an ability based god for most of season 6 and 7 (and maybe 5 as well, but I wasn't active until end of S5 and I wasn't that caught up with the meta by then). Is he being built in high level games as an auto attack build now? Or is he simply building auto attack items early to increase his massive early pressure further then shifting into ability-based builds later down the line? I really am behind in the solo meta, tbh. Although I'm at least glad Guan is super good right now and I'm finally having much better games with him.
Duke Please upload a video of you in gym shorts. Please I need to see what that would do to me! Duke I need it please don't ignore ur fans. Thank you so much XoXoXo

Perfect video just what I was looking for 👍🏼
I really like this idea, Duke. Hope to see more of these in the future. :)

I never really comment or like vids tbh but you are my go to smitetuber Duke 🐐🙏
With the changes to anti heal items, I've been playing Sobek support
He seems to be in a great spot rn
He has been in a great spot for a while, even before antiheal nerfs, so much so they nerfed him last season and he is still top tier for support.
Fantastic quality content, as always.

Honest question, is manakin considered bad even on gods like Bakasura that use it well? Should I be swapping to Eye?
I’d switch to eye, but manikin is probably still viable
ADC: Apollo Danzaburou Cupid
