What it’s really like being a tourist in Iraq 🇮🇶

- If you ask me how much things cost in Iraq, I could not give you a proper answer. No lie, the kind local Iraqi people would always pay for us and many of times shop owners would give us stuff for free. I guess they just love seeing tourists in Iraq. This day was a prime example of how Iraq is a freeloaders paradise!
Everyday we would wake up and have complimentary breakfast at the hotel we payed 55$ a night for, this was our biggest and one of our only expenses. We would go out and hit the streets of Baghdad and shop owners wouldn't charge us, tuktuks would refuse money and the friendly Iraqi people would invite us for tea or food and refuse we pay a dime. In the evening we would be invited for Dinner or a meal at the house of some of our local friends. We would later go out for tea and shish and of course they would not want us to pay a dime and get offended if we tried.
Iraq has some of the kindest people on this planet and it is a shame that the country gets a bad rap in the media because it is a truly amazing country to travel to!
I hope this video series has convinced some of you that Iraq is SAFE, FRIENDLY, and a country that is fun and accessible to travellers!

Can I ask a question? Is there no animosity towards westerners given the history? I have never seen a people so warm - I was shocked... here in the United States (Ohio to be exact) if you ask the general person what people in Iraq think of the United States - most would NEVER imagine this... goes to show the American people are misinformed...

When I was in Iraq during the war in 2007, the people were very respectful, polite, and generous, and the hospitality was excellent. I hope to revisit Iraq in the future.

This is amazing content man, thanks for great series on Iraq. Bagdad seems friendly and bustling. It reminds of my visit in Cairo back in 2012, there were almost no westerners and everyone was very friendly and welcoming to us.

Man, I totally get what you mean. It's frustrating that people don't seem to care about keeping our streets clean. It's a shame there's no law against littering, and even if there was, it wouldn't be enforced. I'm an Iraqi American citizen, and I've never accepted this. When you tell people not to throw trash, they'll say, "We're not in the West, trash is everywhere and people don't care." I hear this excuse all the time, and I think schools and the law need to do more to address littering.
There is no need to be afraid of the police, they are just doing their job, and you can consider them like any civilian, they do not harass anyone... The police in Iraq are not violent, we have other agencies for violent actions
