This video was long ago, but I wanted to let you or your viewers know that adding away least one clip on all sides first makes it easier to hold together. And also it is easier to do the bottom first so it adds more stability when doing the top portion.
Nice looking cages. I'll be building some soon as I want to start on our meat rabbits. Previously, all our rabbits were pets so they had cutesy fancy hutches. Now I'm going for practical!
+MyHomesteadingProject Good deal. Congrats into progressing into the meat rabbit world. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for stopping by.
Thanks so much! Love your channel. I know I'll be back! Subscribed!
When the video started and i saw all of those rolls of wire fencing my heart skipped a beat. In juat made me happy. I know but i love it. God bless you in all your endeavors. :)
Thank you sooooo much for posting this video. I am trying to get my rabbitry up and running and this helped a lot. I raise mini Rex's and holland lops in OK. I love your videos and you have been a huge inspiration to me. Thank you and God bless😊
You say it's hard BUT You make it look So easy. Great design. I really liked your video. God Bless.
+Charlie Blum Thank you. One... lots of practice. Two... the great thing about video is you can edit it and redo it before you air it. ;)
One suggestion that I think could help free your hands other than vise grips is using zip ties just one on each side until you have enough J clips on to ease on the rest. will be building some on my own soon think it may be a good idea?
+Jesus Medrano It would certainly help hold the panel(s) in place.
Have you tried flipping the wire over and walking on it to help flatten it out?
Great video, thank you.
bon courage❤
where can you find the J clips that you are using or whatever they are called in bulk. I am going to be building cage's here in the next 7 days or less and i don't know where to look for bulk clips to build the cage. Also what would you suggest a size of a cage a Standard rex doe would need. I am thinking of building them a 36 X 36 cage's so they have enough space to roam around.
You need some small vise grips or clamps to hold temporarily while installing the jclamps
What gauge wire u use
What is the measurements for your sloped front roof?
Ever tried vice grip pliers to hold wire together freeing your hands?
Also, what's the difference between floor wire and baby saver if both are 1/2 x 1?
theH&Rproject That's a very good idea. Actually it did cross my mind when I was building these but I didn't know where a pair was. Baby Saver wire is only 1/2x1 on the lower 4 inches of the wire. The other 14 inches of wire is 1x2.
A couple of questions; (1) Why the slanted cage? I understand top doors make it easier to reach rabbits when they're all the way in the back, but wondering why the slope. And (2) Does having cut and J clipped corners make the cages stronger than bent wire?
The sloped fronts allows you to hang the cages higher than top doors. That is important when you live out in the woods with wild life all around you. 2) Cut and clipped corners aren't any stronger (nor have I noticed them weaker) but they do come together and fit better.
Thank you
Nice cage design. Too Bad I'm in Arizona and you are so far away.. I like the assembly part of building the cages but hate cutting and smoothing the wire. We could team up if we were closer..
Feather Wind That could be fun. I don't mind most the time. Some cages go together easier than others. They tend to go together better if you can get the panels flattened out first.
Thanks!
This looks like a great idea.. Iv wondered why everything i seen the only variation was where the feeders are and if the doors on top or sides.. Unfortunitly im starting small (got a pair and first litters not even butcher weight) so this would not be as cost effective as jbnulls type for me, but i LOVE the idea especialy for those who wish to stack them with tin or corigated plastic roofs to let urin and fecies fall off that way you have more room for shorter people too reach back without smooshing or stabbing their face! Briliant.. If feeders/meat bunnies go well around here all start moving into this style!
Do you have any problem with mice or rats eating the rabbit feed?
+Salmon Hunter No, I keep my feed in metal cans. Occasionally though, if the goats get out I will catch them eating the feed right out of the feeder so I've had to quit letting them roam the yard. The chickens will do it too so I have to keep them out of the rabbit barns now.
Grace what is the breakdown for the front on the stair way to the front from 18 to 10 ?
Just use a straight edge on the top of the cage starting at 15 inches on from the back of the cage angled downward to the front of the cage at 10 inches. Use a marker and cut that section out.
K. Thanks. Thought maybe clothes pins would work too, and cheaper
theH&Rproject I suspect clothes pins wouldn't be strong enough.
Haha that's funny check out my vids and see what I use

PJ, it looks like you have a lot of patience building the rabbit cages.
Looks can be deceiving. ;) But yes, it does require some patience to work with that sharp wire. Thanks for watching.
You really need to be careful. I sliced my finger open on the cage wire. I need to buy gloves.
