Her song Rosemary is really good as well, she definitely has like an ethereal 30’s sounding voice, like it’s coming straight off a wax recording or something
Miss Ferrell has recently got into riding bicycles and all that, and to me, is even MORE"attractive" now. She just a tiny bundle of "pick-me-up" JOY when I am down.
It's pronounced "fair-uhl." Just like a feral cat. I only know that because I heard her say it lol. She's got such a unique sound. I stumbled across her playing in Nashville 2 years ago right before I moved away, and she was awesome live. Anyways, nice reaction video. Keep it up and good luck with the channel!
This is a silly comment, but since you mentioned "feral cat" -- here goes, I'm a huge fan of Sierra and I saw her perform twice, the summer of 2019, and two nights ago. Early 2020, during Covid, two feral cats were hanging around my house, a male and female. I named them after the characters in her "Jeremiah" song, Jeremiah and Sweet Sue. Sweet Sue was pregnant and only one kitten survived. After Jeremiah and Sweet Sue abandoned the kitten, my husband and I took him in. It was a boy and we named him Happy Lightfoot FERRELL in honor of Sierra! When I talked to her the other night at the show I wanted to tell her that story but I chickened out, even though she's so sweet, she probably would have smiled and said, "Awww" like she does. Not only a great talent, but a great person who really appreciates her fans!
Great reaction! You like river songs, huh? My favorite song, by my favorite band is one hell of a river song. They’re called Murder By Death and the song is called Lost River. I would recommend the official music video. They’ve been playing dark Americana music for 20 years now, but they’re much more well known in the Indy rock scene than in the Americana scene.
When I first heard Morgan Wade, I was a fan. Then, it became painfully obvious that every song started to sound like the same ole-same-ole pity party. Fortunatley for Miss Wade, she has a good producer now who's put her on the right "track" performance AND especially, attitude-wise.
You got a new subscriber between this one and your Colter wall reaction. I’ll give you a recommendation too while I’m at it. Look in to Willy tea Taylor. One of the greatest songwriters alive. Look up anything he’s ever done, I promise you’ll love it.
I prefer this version. ruclips.net/video/MDvEPpdI6Bk/видео.html. Also check out a different style of hers in this video. ruclips.net/video/w0ZRujjmfx8/видео.html.
Try this song by Melissa Carper who has played with Sierra. All part of the Nashville scene although Brennen Leigh and Melissa come from Texas.ruclips.net/video/iq7xWzGxkpY/видео.html
Pa Carter would've either kidnapped or killed her. Only a few hollers in the wide world this music can come from, whippoorwills white churches and tin-roof shine. This is heaven and it's fused in her, brings me back to when I was a baby lying on grandma's kitchen floor, watching her fry up cinnamon donuts and singing, "If I had the wings of an angel, over these prison walls I would fly..."
Interesting she's playing that Kay that Kurt Cobain used. I know she's said Nirvana was one of the first things to break through to her as a young teenager.
Yeah it goes well with the change in perspective of the lyrics there. Like, I love you boy, but make a serious move here or this river will keep flowing on...
Shared this video to just about everyone I know. (Hers) and a few of hours as well. Nice tight song , love the musicians. The man in the hat has serious skills too.
Most of her songs she has written herself. There are quite a few versions of this song and she does that with other songs she has written so it doesn't get mundane. She's from West Virginia and lived down the street from us when she was young and she was best friends with my daughter. She was singing way back then and sounded great then too. We are very proud of her. She is on the way to the top for sure.
What city? I read Charleston, but there are so many little burgs surrounding Charleston. Go 20 miles South and you enter the deep rural Appalachia area. My mom is from Boone Co. Love rural Appalachia mountain area.
Loved this version of this song. She did a studio recording of it and it was disappointing. They slowed it down, lowered her voice, took the energy and passion out of it and over produced it.
Her background guitarist is like 'Dopey' in the Disney classic trying to keep up with what's happening. He does a very good job, but Sierra keeps up with him (not the other way around as you might think). Just watch her studio performance, it's less spontaneous than this 'Gem'. And a true gem this performance is in my most humble opinion..
I feel like this needs to be on a dusty old vinyl record I found in grandma's attic. So crazy hearing it sound so clean. That voice is from days gone by.
@@SongwriterReacts I just subscribed to your channel! I'm a Dead Head so that probably gives you an idea of the stuff I'm into. Jam band, folk ,Americana action. PEACE from Southwest Michigan ✌😎👍🐉💀👽🎸🎼🎵🎶🧠
I don't listen to much country at all. I'm more into Tool/AliceinChains and stuff like that. That being said, I think Sierra is great. I love her music. No autotune, no pro-tools, no snapping everything into the grid. Very refreshing.
Her song Rosemary is really good as well, she definitely has like an ethereal 30’s sounding voice, like it’s coming straight off a wax recording or something
I'll check that one out! Thanks for the recommendation!
I agree that is a great song she is so under rated. I also like her song new West Virginia waltz
Definitely Rosemary is a badass song. I love love love Sierra Ferrell.
I love Sierra. She’s so unique and talented ❤
I find her pleasant to listen to and uniquely attractive
She is amazing.

She's a god damn fox man!
Love Sierra Ferrell. She's very old-timey sounding. Here's a good performance: ruclips.net/video/hNYPhcn34nA/видео.html.

Hey Daniel! Really appreciate the encouragement bud! I normally stick to folk/americana style songs but I'll definitely check out!
@@SongwriterReacts Thanks! Their name is a little misleading. They’re definitely Americana! I think you’ll be impressed.
@@thedan7 ah perfect! I misunderstood. My bad. I’ll add it to the list!
I think she means before she becomes a river herself.
My dad has had that exact guitar sitting in his closet since I was a boy, got it from my grandpa. Still sittin there some 60+ years later
What make of guitar is it?

Another female artist to check out is Morgan Wade. She is on the rise and freaking awesome. Do a reaction video to her song The Night.

For a Janis Joplin type singer, check out the bandit, queen of sorrow Caroline.

Coolest thing that's come out of WV that I know of
She’s the latest great West Virginia export. Great old timey voice. And has a great musical collaborator in Oliver Bates Craven.
I get chills every time I hear this
She's got it all but that voice really stands out.
Stumbled onto Sierra a couple years ago..looove her❤
Im telling yall she dolly partons daughter
Um him her??? WOW
Thanks for the review I just Discovered Sierra myself. I'm a huge fan
The main chorus “But that river will flow on…”. is almost like a different song than the rest of the verse. It’s an interesting contrast
Yeah it goes well with the change in perspective of the lyrics there. Like, I love you boy, but make a serious move here or this river will keep flowing on...

Nice!
Kingston guitar, an old brand of Jazz guitars...I think
Gone way down a Ferrell rabbit hole lately. It's not easy to get out of it because her talent and vibe are captivating and don't easily let go.
I think the lyric is 'take me with you before I'm won"
Like, before she is won by another's heart
I get the pleasure to see her perform in march
Sierra is amazing.
You gotta check out The River by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
She can do anything-she’s an incredible jazz singer too.
And it’s “Fair-ul.”
I didnt think she was alive. I thought she was from the roaring 20's
Maybelle Carter....lives....
i SO LOVED your reaction!!! too cool!!!!

React to the bandit Queen, caroline
“Even after we’re all long gone...” (that river) “won’t you take me with you before I’m one”
Before I’m one who’s long gone 💜🕉

No doubt!
She looks like Clive Owen. But more masculine. Ain't nothin wrong widd it! Heck of a singer.
The river is time. Anyways, that's my 2 cents.
I love that look
