I'm going to try growing peppers in pots as well. That way they can be moved to the hottest part of the yard and moved inside if the temperature gets too cold.

I don't know if there is a special name for it, I call it my planting carrot tool. They are made by a woodworker at our local farmer's market. It has the inches marked for easy measuring depth while planting.

Peppers can overwinter!! I tried that and got a crop early May! Supposedly okra, eggplant, and tomatoes are likely candidates.

We are located in New Brunswick, on the east coast of Canada. We are 46 North and have about 15 hours of sun right now.
When did you plant the garden this year, mid-May?
Beginning of June. We probably could have planted some things a few weeks earlier thought.
