    Thank you so much for just how encouraging you are!! This is what everyone needs to know! I started gardening blind with knowledge!! A few years later I’m providing so much for our family! Learning and making mistakes along the way still but it’s the most rewarding thing to be able to pull food out of my pantry!! I see how much it’s saving us and the taste hands down is the best!! I thank god daily for this and pray I never have to buy canned green beans again!! 😅. So glad I found your channel!!❤

      Thank you! I am so glad you like the videos. Each year I learn more and more. I just harvested some peaches and made some peach bourbon jam for the first time. Wow, was that delicious! It is amazing how much more there is to learn:)

    Thanks for the advice. We actually have a good bit of SC woods behind our house and are thinking of starting a food forest and slowly replacing the trees we have with productive trees.

      Love the idea of food forests. Someday I hope to do that same thing:)

    I’m new to this channel. I’m not sure how long you’ve had this channel. I’ve been rolling for four years but I’m a small backyard and a front yard gardener we do really good. I’ve done really good. I’ve learned so much. I have a 22-year-old pear 🍐 tree that I make pear preserves pear butter pear for the first time I made pears, scrap jelly and it’s so good. 🍐

      Welcome aboard! Peat butter is delicious! I can’t wait for the day that our fruit trees are that mature. It is awesome to hear that you are using all the space you have to grow food! I hope you have a fantastic garden year!

    You are the most amazing blessing to my family. I have learned so much from your videos. You inspire us to plant and grow though we’re both near 70. We’re in the upstate SC…zone 8 as well and I’m so thankful God led you here. Keep bringing these awesome videos!! When you’re discovered by the main stream your channel will explode.

      Wow, thank you! I am so glad you are enjoying and learning from the videos:) SC is really a great place to garden! Our seasons are so long and let us grow some food through the winter. That is amazing that you are still gardening! I’m so glad you are still growing food. I wish you the best garden season yet!

    Been there with waiting to find a recipe until after I harvest. It is definitely better to have a plan, lol! I ended up throwing out so many tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchini. Hopefully I've learned my lesson.

      I’ve done that too! Right now I’m procrastinating with cheese making. Our goats just kidded and I need to get on track for learning to make cheese to use all this fresh milk! It’s always something:)

    Great information! I still remember my humble days way back . My zone is 9a, and it's a struggle to beat the summer heat , so much to learn . Pollution was one of the factors, and oh boy, if I needed to learn to plant flowers as much as vegetables.
    In the current situation, I no longer have that problem. On the contrary, I need to avoid my garden in the early mornings way to many bees 🐝 😅
    Whatever is the reason for gardening, it takes time to build your soil , learn each vegetable, and just enjoy the journey. .

      Thank you so much for sharing. 9a has got to be a totally different world in the gardening scene. Do you grow in the winter months or can some plants tolerate growing in the summer?

    Yes, overwintering basil is great and so is bell pepper I overwintered three bell pepper plants brought them in for the winter took them out recently hearing Houston, Texas and I already have bell peppers. I picked one today to put in my Mexican rice.

      I’ve seen people overwinter peppers, but I’ve never tried it. I think I’m going to put that on my list for this coming winter!

    I also recommend finding a gardening style you like and stick with it. It’s very closely related to your information overload warning but I’m guilty of this myself. There are so many successful gardeners out there showing different ways of doing things and you can easily find yourself trying all of them, sometimes all at once, and doing none of them successfully. So stick with one way and you will be a lot better off

    • @MorganHillFarms
      @MorganHillFarms  2 месяца назад

      That is great advice. I now take gardening styles as a suggestion and just use what works best for me at the moment:)

    This is great advice I have made so many mistakes until I honed in on the crops that work best for me here in Florida I would suggest growing things that are native to your state

    • @MorganHillFarms
      @MorganHillFarms  2 месяца назад

      I completely agree! Anything grown locally, or even seeds that you save season after season will hopefully give you more success! Florida is a completely different growing area than me. But you can grow mangoes!!!

    Our public libraries have local seed banks. You simply sign out seeds. They’re locally grown varieties, and heirloom seeds. It’s a great resource. Check your local library to see if they have this available!

    • @MorganHillFarms
      @MorganHillFarms  2 месяца назад

      We have this as well! I always second guess myself when I am signing my name in their log books. I wonder why they need to know who is planting the seeds:)

    • @rhinothumping
      @rhinothumping 2 месяца назад

      I think they like to know that someone is using the seeds, but not reselling them. Some people would do things like that. They don’t ask where you’re planting those seeds. 😊

      I believe I got them off of etsy. They were difficult to find. I know Baker Creek sells them also but they were out of stock when I was looking to order last year.
