- Have you struggled to grow brassicas such as broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower? Follow these tips for success. This is exactly how I plant my brassicas to ensure a massive harvest.
Thanks for the good tips and demonstration!
Glad it was helpful!
You've given me hope that the broccoli plants I potted in mid February may actually sprout some heads. May God bless us all with incredibly abundant gardens this year! 🥦🥦🥦
I pray the same! I think we will both have a bigger harvest than we know what to do with:)
I’m in the same zone, and have been searching for others who have similar weather and pest challenges. Really nice video! Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you!
🤣 I am always trying to swipe away the dust when I dump it too, that was just too funny to me for some reason. That and the fact that for a second I thought you had deer watching you plant them breakfast. 😂
The struggle is real!!!! So glad I’m not the only one:)
Great information... question, why are you bending over to water in your plants? Hard on the back... suggest you buy a 20 inch watering wand... your back will thank you for it (especially when you get a bit older). Just sayin...
That is a great idea. My nozzle was leaking water when I was watering and so I was trying to concentrate the water at the base of the plants to make sure they were watered in well. I’m going to get a watering wand for the future:) Thank you for that advice!
Do you ever have problems with cabbage moths? If so how do you handle it?
Thank you!
I don’t have too much of a problem with them, but I have used tulle or fine mesh netting to protect certain crops from pests. It works extremely well. If you are not against using a product, you can get some BT. It is a naturally occurring bacteria that is harmless to humans, but when caterpillars eat it, it causes them to die.

Do you have a recommendation for which soil blocker works best?
This is the one that I have. It is a little more pricey than some out there, but it is made
to last. a.co/d/0oZeays
What soil “recipe” do you use for your soil blocks? Your seedlings look amazing!
Here is a video on the exact things I use to make my seed starting / soil blocking recipe. You can use it for compressed soil blocks, but I also use this mix in containers as well for starting seeds:)

I'm a market gardener here in Aiken, SC. I have switched to floret type broccoli this year. Planted back in mid Feb. and I just got the first cut today. If I were to grow a heading broccoli in SC I would go with Belstar, which is what I used to grow. The floret broccolis I'm growing are called Burgundy and BC1611. Where did you get Green Magic seeds? That is an awesome variety for SC, but I though it was discontinued?
That’s awesome to be able to harvest so quickly with the floret variety. I got the green magic from Johnny Seeds. Thank you for sharing the varieties:)
@@MorganHillFarms How did I not see that on Johnny's page?!! Thanks for the "heads" up :)
My brassica seedlings are never that big after 4-6 weeks inside. What's your secret and do you have a video about it?
It’s most likely my soil block recipe that I use. I’ll link the video below. The only other thing that could be a factor are the lights you use. My grow lights are just shop lights with a Kelvin’s rating between 5000-6500
