    "We should all in our own ways, be tickling giants"
    Egypt's missing you Bassem... Definitly one of the most inspiring man of this century.
    There's no moment talking about the revolution without talking about him.
    He was the voice of the people. The light this country needed..
    No words will ever be enough to express how sad the situation is, and how much it's hard to still hoping right now.
    But Masr will shine again. Maybe not now,
    But it will.
    And his name will be a huge part of the story. For sure.

    His show would probably be a smash hit in the U.S. At one time, we loved to be satirized, especially, by someone who's as perceptive as Dr. Youssef but now, every political joke is felt as a major aggression toward some institution or crowd, not to mention, the potentates of government. In America, where every ethnic culture is fair game, satire & laughter is exactly what this nation needs to heal & learn, i.e., if, we can still laugh at ourselves & our leaders who, we admit, haven't been very good for a very long time. Bassem, however, is just in time to help clean the swamp. Here, is a good place to meet the melting pot that they're trying to turn into a tossed salad & we still cherish our free speech rights.
    When you say that he's "exiled in the U.S.," what do you mean from a legal standpoint?

    I didn't know about this guy and I'm happy I discovered him.
    I find his story so ironic, the way he was supported by the people because he was making fun of governors people didn't like and how the people turned against him as soon as he started making fun (in the exact same way) of a governor they liked. It shows how people don't really understand what satire is about and that a democratic country cannot be democratic if the population of that country doesn't embrace the values of democracy and the first of these values is freedom of speech.

    The biggest barrier to public transport, though, is the expense. Metros can cost millions of dollars per kilometre of track. At a time of low oil prices, even the oil-producing states are cutting back. The United Arab Emirates has stopped tenders for the second part of Etihad, a new national railway that is costing dirhams . But a day navigating Cairo’s roads is enough to show that inaction now will lead to higher costs in the future.
    Egyptian held several meetings Monday and to elect officers committees.
    While some high profile affiliated with the Support Egypt parliamentary bloc have been elected to head at least 16 committees, others were able to win for the first time.
    Affiliated with the Wafd, Free Egyptians, and Future of a Homeland parties also won leading posts.

      "free" is a strong word, the MB gov did send out a warrant for his arrest, but I take your point. I think it's more that they didn't have the same kind of power that the military does.

    It was really sad that we lost the ability to watch his show due to the voluntary servitude of the people to their tyrants. Many Egyptians demanded that his show be stopped because they couldn't handle satire directed towards the guy that deposed the former, democratically-elected president and established himself as the new Pharaoh of the country. What can you do to a people that doesn't want to be free?

    In New Zealand, we view the way people in some countries almost worship their political leaders as strange. During the US 2016 election campaign, Trump supporters worshipped him and reviled Hilary Clinton, and Hilary's supporters worshipped her and reviled Trump and his supporters. They weren't willing to hear any criticism of their leader or grant any credit to the opposing leader.
    One our ministers got hit in the face with a dildo by a protestor (Steven Joyce, look it up on John Oliver's Last Week Tonight), and no charges were pressed against the woman who threw it, as if they were, he would have been laughed out of politics, even by National party voters (his party), but instead he laughed as well and got on with it.
    NZers have a healthy (in my view) level of contempt for pretty much all politicians, even the ones we personally voted for, as we don't view them as almighty figures, but instead managers we have chosen and who serve at our pleasure, and we treat them as such.

    Egypt is not livable country anymore.
    Whether to be not patriot "against the current regime " or disbeliever "against the previous regime" like they represent Islam or the army should rule the country.
    I think that I'm patriot and Muslim loving my religion but "the right way"
    not judging anybody who r we to judge others and control their lifes.
    and at last Islam should not judged by some Muslims actions.

    Unfortunately - intentionally or unintentionally - he was one of the main reasons losing democracy in Egypt and the Middle East. The old regime used him as a tool to destroy the Revolution and killing the democracy hopes in the cradle. Now he is so RICH and seeking other opportunities in the US but the real victim is the regular Egyptian youth who had great hopes in 2011 revolution and now either dead, imprisoned or hopeless.

    Bassem fought against the intelligence media but became one of its tools himself when he got a taste of its money he used his show stage to spread lies and rumors without any real bases in addition to cutting parts of there speeches out of their context and purposely change their meaning ,he mocked Morsy for money and left the country in fear of the army he was never a hero ,he mocked only when it was safe and ran off on the first sight of danger, if the Muslim Brotherhood where tyrants or terrorist he would have never mocked them, final his tale would always represent how an individual could help ruin his brethren hopes and dreams for personal gains.

      the Muslim majority dont believe ( at least main bulk of them) that ancient Egyptians are their ancestors also they think they were nonbelievers ( infidels )....... Copts are indigenous people of Egypt though

    • @beshobashabesho1
      @beshobashabesho1 6 лет назад

      Faithful Soldier you degenerate ignorant Copts are defined by their pure ethnicity and religion , Copts haven't mingled with Arabs, nomads, north African tribes that emigrated in 18th century , Ottomans , Mamlouks ..... etc .... so yes Copts are pure ethnicity unlike the Majority of Muslims .... I don"t care about your preoccupation of Christianity hatred ( maybe a monk has penetrated you thats why ) so I am not going to bother argue with your foul-mouthed idiocy ...... learn history and dont talk about countries you are extremely ignorant about ...... also all Egyptians know what I am talking about its been decades clerics repeating this rhetoric that you foolishly arguing against ..... stop embarrassing yourself and STFU

    • @faithfulsoldier519
      @faithfulsoldier519 6 лет назад +1

      beshobashabesho1 - Lol, Copt is the westernization of the Arabic ''Qibt'' which is in fact an Arabization of the Greek ''Aegyptus'', removing ''Ae'' and ''us'', became ''Gypt'', that is ''Qibt'' "قبط". And that what the Arabs used to call the native Egyptians, due to the main language that was spoken in that area as a part of the Byzantine Empire, and they used to call the Egyptians, as Copts, including those who embraced Islam among them, until the 16th century.
      Do you really believe that Egypt's Christians, with their this pure Roman nose they have, didn't mingled with other nations? No dude, they did, and enough of their noses to prove their Roman roots, they even name their children ''Romani'' that is ''Roman''. Let them set themselves free from their Romanization, even the Coptic language is mingled with the Greek one, which was the spoken language in Egypt since Alexander the Great, before Christianity, and used to be the main spoken language of the Copts until it was named after them.
      I'm not attacking Christianity, but you came here to blame Islam for a fantasy, just to say that Muslims in Egypt disrespect ancient Egypt, and defending its Christians for being the only indigenous of Egypt, because Muslims believe that the ancients were unbelievers according to you. Then what the Christians believe of their faith? Sadly, they didn't believe in the Christian savior either! Not to mention the countless curses that the racist God of Israel used to put it against Egypt in the unholy bible.
      Actually, you're the one who is embarrassing yourself, not me. Bye!

    • @beshobashabesho1
      @beshobashabesho1 6 лет назад

      Faithful Soldier you are a JOKE 1- I am a Copt .... 2- lots of misleading here .... Romany is related to st Goerge the Roman , copts called that name after him not after Romans as you mistakenly said 3- muslims yes FORBID statues and a lot of clerics demanded destruction and coverages of pharaohs monuments as it is Haram 4- Sphinx was destroyed ( nose ) by islamic rulers before ....5- Egyptians language evolved as follows hieroglyphic, Hieratic then Coptic language that was forced to vanish by islamic occupation ( they used to cut Copts tongue if they heard it spoken by any ) ... so they never spoken Greek at all ....... again do not pretend you know something about someone's own history .... bye

    Mr. Youssef, I was just watching your Tickle the giant show on T.V., & I had to look you up on You tube in hopes you will read this comment. I was sadden to see that those people in your country were mad/pissed off about your comedy, & how you were stopped or taken off air. I want to say, that is the problem with the middle east countries they don't or can't relax, laugh, and incorporate any fun without being punished or maybe jailed. The people need to stop kissing the presidents ass all the time just so they aren't put in jail, tortured, etc., it's rather ugly to see people be so up tight, scared, & in the streets holding signs, yelling how you insulted the people & the gen. sisi ? Don't know if that is your country president or what (not familiar). I certainly did not see or hear you insult or offend the people of Cairo & felt bad for you that you could actually be jailed or something. Come to America, you'll fit in & your a modern person, not stuck in the dark ages like so many over there, we don't want those ones here that don't assimulate with things here. Besides we can always use heart surgeons as well, comedy's good too.Peace :) Good luck
