When I was in the US Army in the field I would sometimes make vegetable beef ramen with beef ramen and a half can of mixed vegetables and some beef jerky cut into bite sized pieces. The other half can of mixed vegetables I would share with a friend. In the winter we would cook our ramen meals on the tent stove and during the summer we would use a single burner screw on propane stove for the 1 pound propane bottles. We would do the same thing with chicken flavored ramen and mixed vegetables and add a can of chunked chicken. You could always get free MRE crackers for your ramen soups and most MRE's came with a little bottle of hot sauce to spice things up a little. Besides my canteen cup and mess kit I usually would pack up a small (probably about 2QT) pot with lid for bigger meals or larger portions when I was real hungry or sharing with a couple of friends.
Now that looked like a great meal and best thing, you can make it anyway you want and can substitute ingredients with your choice. Beans, beans, good the heart......... Nice looking island too, Thanks for sharing.
Empty TIC TAC containers make good salt , pepper , spice shakers . I gotta try your Canteen Bean soup . Thanks for the video . Best wishes from Daytona Beach , FL . 😎
I just discovered and subscribed to your channel. Great stuff, thanks. I am loving the canteen cup Tuesday and will respond to your invite to add dishes once it gets warm enough to cook outside :). Keep 'em coming.
The only thing that meal is missing is a piece of cornbread. Btw it must be nice to be wearing shorts and tee shirts in the middle of December. I'm totally jealous lol.
After looking through the comments, I noticed no one suggested moving up to a P51/ p52 can opener, it has a longer & wider handle and larger cutter. Also the Stansport 3-1 can opener, even longer handle with small spoon at the end. I have both.
