Just want to check in. You seem to be doing amazing! I miss you on RUclips! But I love what you have created for yourself that you choose to share. Keep up the awesome work!
Was not expecting to hear my question answered! Had to do a double take haha then freak out a bit 😂 thanks for answering my q and CONGRATS ON THE NEW JOB!! Loving the NYC energy
Coucou Jessica ! Bon retour sur RUclips ! Tes vlogs nous ont manqué. C'est super que tu te sois remise au français 🇫🇷 ! Je te souhaite de belles aventures à New York🗽. Amitiés
The things that have been helping me make friends in PGH (like... so slowly) has been BumbleBFF, dance classes, pole classes, rock climbing, and yoga classes! But dang it is so hard to make new friends, anywhere. Literally, the folks I befriended first were the yoga TEACHERS. #onbrand I believe in you! And if you need to spread it out over a long, long time, that makes so much sense!
If I could give you 1 piece of advice, it would be get a good winter coat. As somebody who has lived in the warm for so long I suspect winter is going to be especially cold for you. Layers will be your friend. Boots are something unless you are out in the snow all the time, you could or could not use. However, getting a good quality coat is very important.
As a life long Massachusetters…. Girl get READY for winter. There’s gunna be 2-3 weeks of perfect fall weather then next thing you know your 14 inches deep in snow in 15 degree weather with a -8 windchill. Get a very large winter coat 😂
As a Canadian I can't believe you've never seen snow!! Since you want to come to Canada and you want to speak French, you should go to Montreal or Quebec City - both beautiful places 😊
As an upstate New Yorker, I highly recommend checking out the Hudson Valley, especially during the fall. The nature is great and there are lots of fun things to do during that time in that area. 😊
So happy to see that you're doing well! It's always been a dream of mine to visit New York, especially in the Autumn/Winter time! so hopefully will do that sometime over the next few years.
If you ever want to visit Canada and speak French tou should go to Montreal in Quebec! It’s a bilingual city. If you need any tips and advice I live in Montreal hahaha
I’ve lived in NYC for years and I’m SOOOO happy to be leaving next month. The reality of NY is that it’s dirty, over priced, crime infested and what you get for your money is not worth it. Crime is absolutely increasing rapidly and it’s just not safe. Subways are a nightmare, especially rush hours and dangerous af at night. Even the pricier areas are getting hit, I also worked in midtown for many years as well as other areas. I get the allure though. You’re young, just got here and live in an upper east side bubble. You just haven’t experienced real NY yet. Snow gets old fast, especially when you’re commuting in below zero weather and slushy, slippery dirty ice. BUT do enjoy it, have fun because I do understand the appeal the first couple of years.
Making friends as an adult is so difficult! I’ve moved 4 times in the last eight years, and it’s one of the hardest parts about moving is leaving the friends you have finally made and then trying to create new friendships in the new place. I never used to think a whole lot of friendship, but it’s become apparent to me that it is integral to thriving in life!
I’m sooooo happy that you moved to NY! Not only because I’m from LI lol. But you should definitely take a trip to Quebec and Montreal soon. I think you would really love it there, especially in the fall. Also NYC in the fall is magical! If you think fall is your favorite season, just wait until you experience it in NY, truly gorgeous and chilly lol. Feel free to follow me on Instagram @lindseyjolsen if you need a new NY friend! Maybe we could get some coffee and go to a bookshop together sometime :)
