I have bought and sold two of those exact same phone booth and they were all in excellent shape and everything worked. It’s a testament how they built those things amazing craftsmanship.
Ruby squawking all the time drives you crazy but if Ruby was to pass tomorrow you would sadly miss that squawking. Love what you have because it will not always be there !!

Back in the early 80s my dad brought home almost the identical phone booth. Our fan was in the ceiling with light not in the corner. I remember this because it stunk of cigarette smoke. Don’t remember what I had done that week but my punishment was to wash out the entire phone booth to clean it of all of the nicotine coating the walls. I think it was also a lesson to never smoke because it was disgusting. It was honey brown but cleaned up to tan.
The worst part of the job is when we took the fan off of the top and thoroughly cleaned decades of nicotine, dust and grease off of the blades and motor and reassembled.
Eventually, mom made him sell it but I have the identical phone at my house.
I have it hanging tin the hall and often confuse millennials on how to dial a rotary.

@18:21 the steampunk lamps are sold at a very low price at the Volo Antique Mall in Volo, Illinois minutes away from Pete's shop. The booth there has many steampunk items and a lot of steampunk lamps. If you want lamps like that go to the Volo Antique shop, you will not be disappointed and you will not be paying outrageous prices either!

If you want to back light the mobil sign, just use LED. Way less expensive and way easier and you can choose the color.

Pete, the newspaper plate I think is a pre-press plate used to print a newspaper, I worked around them for years and it looks identical to what I remember. So this is basically the master plate, used to print 1000's of that page - would need a closer look to be certain though

yeah, that would be cool. If you can get some of those signs, you know to pop a little bit especially like with the railroad crossing sign if you can get the actual colors of like red to kind of flash, that would be neat you know like it’s a train coming by. Yeah that phone booth is absolutely amazing. If I had the money I would absolutely buy that immediately. That’s such a nice piece.

Area codes were introduced in the USA in 1947 as part of the North American numbering plan. Given the phone didn’t have an area code assigned the booth is probably older than 1947.
Every time I watch your videos, it reminds me of my younger days living in North Chicago and close-by Waukegan. My buddy had your same accent. Of course now, years later, I'm back in my hometown of Honolulu after my time in the Marine Corp. My wife is Polish and we're planning another trip back to Chicago, where she was born. Wish he would leave the camera running 24/7. Would love to keep this on separate monitor that I purchased from Pete and watch all day every day. Would love to be a fly on the wall for some of these exchanges. Pete knows how to “wheel and deal” better than any mortal alive. Pete is so charismatic and a good talker.
