The whole joke about Citizen Cane is that everyone knows or has had it spoiled for them at this point. .I'd go so far as to say it is the single most spoiled thing ever in any media to the point that it has become a running joke.
You might be right, unless "everyone important in (insert Shakespearean tragedy) dies" counts, which it probably doesn't since that's a genre expectation and not a specific feature of Romeo and Juliet or Macbeth or whatever.
Good thing I watch Citizen Kane for the first time last year. Which is something I’d never expected to comment on a game grumps supermarket simulator episode
I saw Citizen Kane a while ago. I thought it was wild when they revealed it wasn't Kane who burned down his family's funeral home and killed their parents but his brother The Undertaker.
I was born in ‘99 and I never saw Citizen Kane. To me it’s just one of those 50 or more movies that people bug you about but I simply can’t be bothered to watch over doing something else.
Not only did he drop them there, but he looks directly at them on the floor about 1.5 mins later. It takes another 2.5 mins before he actually runs back to them and comments on it. Then proceeds to "aboos" the staff for not putting it away... despite there still being at least a dozen boxes outside.
I’m so sad that Denver sold out so fast… I had finally saved up enough to buy two tickets aaaaand they’re gone. I wanted to see NSP and TWRP so badly. Hope everyone has fun June 10th!
The ticket scalping on this Nsp tour is CRAZY- they’re selling in Seattle for $251 EACH, and they sold out so fast on the original website. So disappointing, the original prices were actually affordable. Hope they add a day!
I saw Citizen Cane for a film appreciation class and was aware of the central plot point they're dancing around prior to that due to jokes and references.
Dan, thank you for being insistant on not spoiling. As someone who had a... lets say sheltered childhood, I'm *still* catching up on some major media, and it's nice to know someone cares to preserve other's sense of wonder. :3 (even if you apparently already did spoil it in another episode :P )
Citizen Kane is a genuine masterpiece. It’s also long and fucking boring. So I can’t stress enough how much better off you are just knowing the “spoiler”
Remember when Dan used to stop every single episode dead because he would order food every hour? Now he's afraid that going to the bathroom is somehow going to derail Supermarket Simulator, of all games. 😆
I knew the Citizen Kane thing cuz of Charles Schultz' Peanuts comics. He references the ending so much. I knew about it before I even knew the film, actually.
I also took a film class and got to learn a bit about the film, which is really cool. Some rich guy apparently tried to ban it cuz he was offended by its depiction of rich people.

edit: 16:17 - Arin does perfect impression of AI :P
I knew the ending but I have no context so I thank Dan for saving me from the details.
I hope you guys are safe in LA!
What’s going on in LA…
@@trenidymontalvo5304its on fire!
@@trenidymontalvo5304 It burnt down.
@@trenidymontalvo5304Fire fire everywhere!
As one of the two people who are woefully out of touch and have never seen Citizen Kane, I so appreciate Dan insisting on Arin not spoiling it! 🙏
"What is this doing here?" - The Man That Put It There
Never change, Arin.
Not only did he drop them there, but he looks directly at them on the floor about 1.5 mins later.
It takes another 2.5 mins before he actually runs back to them and comments on it.
Then proceeds to "aboos" the staff for not putting it away... despite there still being at least a dozen boxes outside.
@6:13 Thank you for representing us, Dan 🥰😂
I’m so sad that Denver sold out so fast… I had finally saved up enough to buy two tickets aaaaand they’re gone. I wanted to see NSP and TWRP so badly. Hope everyone has fun June 10th!
Aww :(.
Portland, too
I love not watching this series for a couple weeks and coming back to see Arin with $55,000 and a fart corner, it's amazing
Happy belated birthday Arin Hanson 1/6/1987. As your present from me here is a kiss from my dad you beautiful truth seeker
I don't know anything about Citizen Kane other than the fact that it's a movie
7:51 the grinch was already mean to everyone, they made the song because of him... fool
“It’s citizen Kane! It’s timeless!”
Meanwhile me, who’s never seen the movie: 🧍♂️
Dan, thank you for being insistant on not spoiling. As someone who had a... lets say sheltered childhood, I'm *still* catching up on some major media, and it's nice to know someone cares to preserve other's sense of wonder. :3 (even if you apparently already did spoil it in another episode :P )
I knew about Citizen Kane’s ending purely due to the Tiny Toons parody ep (he didn’t say Acme, he said that he had acne)
If Dan ever steps away again you should have paint ready and repaint the entire store.
Arin not realizing that even cashiers/self checkout nets you xp
I knew the ending of Citizen Cane before I saw the movie, but when I did see it, it was still an amazing movie.
Uh, you guys getting by?? The Eaton fire is like 10 minutes from your office!
Hope our Game Grumps family isn't affected by all the wildfires!
God i want an episode where they rearrange and organize the store, that would feel so good
I knew the Citizen Kane thing cuz of Charles Schultz' Peanuts comics. He references the ending so much. I knew about it before I even knew the film, actually.
I also took a film class and got to learn a bit about the film, which is really cool. Some rich guy apparently tried to ban it cuz he was offended by its depiction of rich people.
What a way to celebrate my birthday with one gurmp and one not so grump yelling at each other in a supermarket
Happy Birthday 🎉
happy birthday🎂
I knew that rosebud was a ghost the whole time!
The Grinch surprise endingly becoming Citizen Kane almost made me renounce my citizenship (and my Kane).
Suggestion, a mod that changes the Open/closed sign to a buy/ leave sign
As someone also "wildly out of the loop" thank you for not spoiling citizen cane
