I dunno, it doesn't seem too bad to me, you get plenty of resources to get cards you need for your decks. Course, the "you can only buy packs" is bullshit, but you can redeem tickets you get frequently for free. As for the physical game, it really depends on the deck you build, there is pretty strong decks you can build without too much in your budget, just do some research. Think of it more as a pay to play, more than a play to win. Hopefully this comment doesn't leave backlash
Technically, it’s been like this for a while now. Booster Packs are just like loot boxes and when you buy singles, you spend a lot for that one card you need.
I mean when you think about it, a 1/500 shot isn't the worst odds in the world. Then again, I play RuneScape where a 1/512 drop rate is the norm for most rare things.

I've been playing mostly f2p since launch. Now I'm being punished by not having any way of getting gems for packs and forced to be behind in the meta or fork over cash. I only got 100 gems for logging in 1000 days. That's some baby back bullshit.
Wait how can you only get 100 gems from that span of time? I had 2000 or so gems from start and got all my elemental heroes back. (I had quit duel links a while back)
I still do fine competitively, but I don't get to play with the new cards until much after meta changes. I got more than 100 over that span of time, but only 100 for the mission for logging in for 1000 days total. Could of at least given me 1000 gems for that. All I know is that the game punishes new and old players. Only peeps who pay don't get punished.

Konami banned the sh"t out of everything that slows down the game or plays a more control/mid-range style strategy. Duel Links is stupidly fast and has basically no back & forth interaction.
ive really never had that issue, especially since buying the packs are at most 1-2 dollars, especially since if your after such strong cards they are either in a structure or collector deck or banned all together

Also, there's a limit to how many copies of a single card you can use in your deck, being three as I remember. Not a player of the game though, so I could be wrong. But there was a bit point about that at one time

Limited, 1 copy. Banned, no copies. But ofc we are memeing here, there are no force on this world that can make you have 5 of this same card on the field that are not tokens. However there are cards that can say to change its name(Or treated as another card) on the field to another cards name. So you can have 5 cards with the same name(Not original but current name) on the field. In reality, while everyone bangs on Konami for printing stupid cards and making dumb decisions, it is kind nice that they print new support for old nobody plays archetypes that are from years ago. EA making Yugioh would actually make the game unplayable.

TBH, I have Battlefront 2 And I don't understand what everybody hates about darthvader, luke, etc. being locked behind credits. Its only 15K, and I always get an extreme minimum 1,000 battlepoints every match (even on CONSOLE.) which gives a lot of credits. And that's not even considering the starter+campaign+achievement lootboxes that also can give credits. Literally took me less than 4 hours of playtime (excluding campaign, because that itself is deserving of the hours, its good) to get Darth Vader.
@@darkspin3000 they were 60k at launch. The update made them 25% of the original price. They later quietly cut the credits recieved for completing the campaign though.
But YuGiOh is actually like this. You forget it's run by Konami. A company that has equally controversial practices to EA. - Card sets that only print 2 chances to pull the strongest card in the set per the whole store box that is dispensing the packs themselves (lootbox equivalent). - Shonen Jump subscription/Manga promo cards. - Unstable Secondary market. - Bucket loads of censorship. - Power creep that makes sure every new set has to release better cards then the old. This causes older decks to die out and lose relevancy so Konami can force people to invest in new decks. - Making a new summoning mechanic that changes the game forever and forces people playing older decks to buy it in order to continue playing the game (Master Rule 4). I'm honestly waiting for them to make a YuGiOh Pachinko machine that has powerful exclusive cards that you can only obtain by gambling on it.
Ulises Avila I compared card packs to lootboxes not gacha. They're both are just paying money as a gamble to pull good stuff. Thing is with yugioh is there is a second hand market you can just buy single cards off. So it's not exactly like loot boxes but more similar to tf2 loot crates or any loot system that has trading.
There are some decks that stay relevant for a very long time so, the power creep statement isn't entirely true. Examples: mermail, lightsworn, monarch, and burning abyss just to name a few.
I mean it doesn't causes infinite loops that returns the game into its previous state permanently so... Nah nah, totally legal. He didn't even activate an effect or play a card, no illegal moves I see anyway.
Yeah man, having 5 blue-eyes on the field IS good, but there's plenty of removal played in most modern decks that can easily get rid of 5 monsters on the field, especially unprotected normal monsters. Evenly Matched, Dark Hole (need I remind is unlimited) almost every mirror force card (although slow) and of course, our boy Raigeki.

Konami banned the sh"t out of everything that slows down the game or plays a more control/mid-range style strategy. Duel Links is stupidly fast and has basically no back & forth interaction.

@@konstantinweyer9648 In yugioh master rule 5, you can now summon a normal monster on the extra deck monster zone, -Konami- EA never explained why this change and only this change was made.
Also, there's a limit to how many copies of a single card you can use in your deck, being three as I remember. Not a player of the game though, so I could be wrong. But there was a bit point about that at one time

You are correct, for a normal Yugioh card you can have 3 copies of it in your deck as a whole.
If a card is semi-limited, you will be limited to having only 2 copies of it.
Limited, 1 copy.
Banned, no copies.
But ofc we are memeing here, there are no force on this world that can make you have 5 of this same card on the field that are not tokens.
However there are cards that can say to change its name(Or treated as another card) on the field to another cards name.
So you can have 5 cards with the same name(Not original but current name) on the field.
In reality, while everyone bangs on Konami for printing stupid cards and making dumb decisions, it is kind nice that they print new support for old nobody plays archetypes that are from years ago.

TBH, I have Battlefront 2 And I don't understand what everybody hates about darthvader, luke, etc. being locked behind credits. Its only 15K, and I always get an extreme minimum 1,000 battlepoints every match (even on CONSOLE.) which gives a lot of credits. And that's not even considering the starter+campaign+achievement lootboxes that also can give credits.
Literally took me less than 4 hours of playtime (excluding campaign, because that itself is deserving of the hours, its good) to get Darth Vader.
You’re probably playing after the update where they decrease the cost of characters by a lot

They later quietly cut the credits recieved for completing the campaign though.

You forget it's run by Konami.
A company that has equally controversial practices to EA.
- Card sets that only print 2 chances to pull the strongest card in the set per the whole store box that is dispensing the packs themselves (lootbox equivalent).
- Shonen Jump subscription/Manga promo cards.
- Unstable Secondary market.
- Bucket loads of censorship.
- Power creep that makes sure every new set has to release better cards then the old. This causes older decks to die out and lose relevancy so Konami can force people to invest in new decks.
- Making a new summoning mechanic that changes the game forever and forces people playing older decks to buy it in order to continue playing the game (Master Rule 4).
I'm honestly waiting for them to make a YuGiOh Pachinko machine that has powerful exclusive cards that you can only obtain by gambling on it.

I compared card packs to lootboxes not gacha. They're both are just paying money as a gamble to pull good stuff. Thing is with yugioh is there is a second hand market you can just buy single cards off. So it's not exactly like loot boxes but more similar to tf2 loot crates or any loot system that has trading.
There are some decks that stay relevant for a very long time so, the power creep statement isn't entirely true.
Examples: mermail, lightsworn, monarch, and burning abyss just to name a few.

Yeah man, having 5 blue-eyes on the field IS good, but there's plenty of removal played in most modern decks that can easily get rid of 5 monsters on the field, especially unprotected normal monsters. Evenly Matched, Dark Hole (need I remind is unlimited) almost every mirror force card (although slow) and of course, our boy Raigeki.
