Jackie didn’t get fired. He walked. Tried to come back and was told no.
He lost a negotiation battle that was all in his head. He thought his "humour" was indispensable.
@@damienkearns3654 Spot on, he got greedy
EXACTLY
Thats a fact
That's what I thought he quit. And then begged to get back on show. He made worse decision of his life
“I just wanna take this time to apologize to my wife Nancy” 😂 Gotta love the Jokeman!! 👍
Please don't make a mockery of this...
Loved Jackie on Stern; loved Artie’s time too but it can’t be understated Jack’s contribution to the show during his tenure.
It was the people around Howard who made him funny.
I love Jakies humor
I do as well
Great profound interview. These guys have tons of experience with failing trying again getting successful failing, trying again failing successful failing etc….troopers ♾
Saw Jackie at the Rivera in Vegas. Good show, I was 3 sheets to the wind. 10/15/1999.
Jackie elevated Stern into the stratosphere. Everything even remotely funny Howard said came from Jackie and Jackie alone. All you need to do is look at the ratings. Once he was gone Stern had Artie and the Howard TV cast to carry the show until Artie imploded. Take away Jackie and Artie and you’re left with the garbage the show is today.
Too reductive and not at all accurate to the overall show and the fact that stern is pushing 70-
Whining about how things change over 40 years is ridiculous- the show literally has changed 5 or 6 times since the early 80’s.
Know what is strange? all the ex staff who claims they were the talent on the HS show is unable to make a life with all that '''talent'' post Howard
He has been washed up since the day artie left.
IF they were the ''talent'' on the HS show, how come to a man, they were unable to make it on their own, to this day? Howard is the glue that holds that show together. Without Howard they fell apart. What ''talent'' they had was tickled out by Howard. HE made them funny. Jackie believed in his indispensability, and started to think he should be getting close to Howard's salary, he got greedy and started playing '''hard to get and lost. Artie had some talent, but started to take Howard for granted because he knew he was favored. He slept on the show, was rude to Howard, came in late, which had the staff calling out Howard for the double standard, and became familiar. He was drunk on gigs, falling all over the place, is that funny? Your comment made me smile
All of the versions of the show are still funnier than anything else on the air. I’ve listened to the show for the past 30 years and according to the critics The show sucks now. It was always better in the past. People have counted Howard out but yet he perseveres
Happy Belated Birthday Jackie! You look marvelous darling! Congratulations on your sobriety. I wish you happiness and Peace. ❤️🙏🏻
At This Point This Channel Is More Interesting Than The Current Actual Howard Stern Show .
And I thank you again
I agree!
“F@#$ around with the fat girl” Damn
Nobody told him his junky papers should be in a library! Most self important man alive.
I was listening to old stern yesterday and looked on maps where Bayville was. As I was looking around the town, jokeland was pinned.
God bless Jackie. Lots of faults and lots of fun
He is just a joke telling hippie. Enjoying life
Left the stern show almost 30 yrs ago and is still talking about it every time I see him. He committed career suicide and just cannot accept it.
To be fair, what else does he have to talk about?
@@quiksix25True
He is being asked about it.
Jackie Martling looks like he’s doing well. He wanted a raise. Howard Stern said no. Jackie walked. In the end everything seems to have worked out for both of them.
Are you a doofus? Howard wasn't the one paying everyone on staff. The station was owned by Mel Karmazin and the program director for KROC was Tom Cheapasano. They were the ones negotiating with Mr. Jokeman, not Howie
@@PhilMiCoochie and how am I a doofus? Name calling gets you nowhere.
There was a guy in college who was a good all rounder, everyone praised him, and held him in awe. Then it got to his head, and he started missing practice, making demands, would sit as long as he wanted when practice started. The coach got tired of his behavior and '''fired'' him. We lost many games, but slowly rebuilt the team with strong disciplined players
Like Artie Lange?
@@MrShanester117- You are right on target
Love the joke man though what an era of radio, and he was a massive, massive part of that
Jackie still makes laugh.
Man alive! Brad you bear a striking resemblance to our late great Doghouse owner. I subbed just for your eyebrows.
Jackie used to fetch the pieces of paper he wrote jokes on and passed to Howard on air out of the waste paper basket and keep them on file. That's what's in those folder's. It's immensely sad given the minute Stern delivered the joke it was gone, but Jackie thinks it still matters....to this day.
All of the breaths you've taken in your life don't matter because they went in and out, over and done. What a stupid way to look at anything. The Howard Stern Show was built on all of those little slips of paper.
Poor Jackie he destroyed his career., because of greed.🤣 Know what he is doing for a meager living today? he has a Twitter account with some of his jokes
@@deidradahl2802 He is rising with the sun and walking along the beach. He is happily married. He has also earned the admiration of your favorite comedians. One thing he isn't doing is sitting on yt talking shit about someone else's income like a fucking loser.
@@Kee2Oz You say he is '''happily married''' did he get married after his divorce? If he is '''rising with the sun, and walking on the beach''' , more power to him ,he deserves it If so, why with every interview, you can see the yearning for what he lost because of greed, and thinking he was the one holding the show together? I like Jackie, but he made a mistake in holding out for what he thought he was worth. Now he is living off of memories. He has a Twitter account with his old jokes, maybe you could visit the site and support him? Now about '''sitting on YT talking shit'' if you put out your garbage, it becomes common property. Jackie is the one seeking therapy from the public, and fans by always talking about the past, and his life. No one peep into his home. You seem like someone able to express himself without talking dirty
@@Kee2Oz Jackie is the one always talking about his income, or loss of it🤣
Thanks!
Thank you!!! Belatedly
Title says "Fired" but he actually quit, well "couldn't come to an agreement on salary"- you can't expect them to hold your job while you take your little mini vacation and they're working every day
Remember when Jackie would give the celebrities pieces of paper to sign? He also gave em stupid jokes on notes.
Uggh! The never ending documentary that he'll never be able to sell to a buyer!😮💨
Jackie always so proud of himself, a legend in his own mind, but that's what makes Jackie, Jackie, and is some of the reasons why he is funny, his delusion is funny, that along with his past the line wisecracks, and just like the old days got to get that plug for pay, he does a nice cameo ad
Pretty solid observation honestly
Norm McDonalds nephew interviews Ric Flair
Its a funny hat… its funny
How can neither of these guys know who McLean Stevenson was on MASH?
The day he left was the day the Howard Stern show started its slow non stop downward spiral.
I still think there was some good times with Artie
@@STWEEKLY true,Artie definitely helped the show at least hang on to its glory for a little while longer.
The vitriolic comment about Robin is because during the pay dispute, it gave Stern and particularly Robin a chance to get rid of Jackie. Robin has said that during the Sirius years, several times and everything gets back to Jackie.
Timestamp?
Jackie didn't get fired 🤣, he left
I gotta laugh at the headline. He was offered 750000 a year and turned it down. Was never fired. Stupid decision on his part. But he was worth that money. He was endless material, from his no talent wife to all his flim flams and willingness to needle Robin the show from 92 to 96 is untouchable
Jackie quit the greatest show in history and his job was to write jokes...
He started believing in his own '''talent'' and felt he was indispensable, started comparing his salary to Howards. Greed one of the seven deadly sins
I can sell this joke I wrote to Jackie for 10 bucks. I told my 85 year old mother I'm retiring. She said "Good, Now you can start looking for a job"
*AFTER ALL THESE YEARS HE STILL WILL NOT SAY HOW HE REALLY FEELS ABOUT STERN AND BEING LET GO AND THE RELATIONSHIP. EVERY WORD IS CALCULATED NOT TO OFFEND. WISH HE WAS ASKED HOW DID HE GET HIRED BY STERN, THE INTERVIEW AND THE EARLY DAYS. INTERVIEWS ALWAYS ASK ABOUT THE LAST DAYS, BUT THE WNBC DAYS IS WHAT MADE STERN/JACKY FAMOUS. THATS THE FOCUS AREA, SHOULD BE*
So passive aggressive. So bitter. The Jackie years were the best tbh but he screwed the pooch and he’s obviously never going to get over it. Dissing Robin’s looks is like trying to burn the bridge.
After all these years shame on jackie still better and still hurting calling robin fat what a nice hole still hasn't grown up still needs to be in the spotlight and put it when i was down
Jackie wasn NOT fired.
So did Jackie just decide to keep one of his crumy houses and get rid of the other 2
I really liked Jackie on the show but for me the Artie years are the greatest
I wonder if Jackie paid for that Rodney Dangerfield statue over his shoulder in jokes.
I bet a lot of people have "party all the time" stuck in their head after he mentioned it.
Any eddie Murphy song is a good song
Howard controlled every aspect of his show except when it was time to pay his people, then it fell to the stations. Nobody was allowed to get paid but Howard.
Correct
Back when, Howard said that when Jackie's salary came up for renewal, he wanted 1 million/ year but Infinity Broadcasting offered 650K. When they didnt agree, Infinity said that's it - offer is withdrawn and Jackie was out. Jackie in one interview mentioned Howard was not supportive but then that's how Howard is. As an outsider, I wonder why Howard didnt make more of an effort to keep such a key writer on his show
That’s not the story at all. Jackie negotiated back and forth. They came with him with a final offer and he rejected it. Then a few months later he tried to take the deal but it was off the table.
@@tylerk8357 That basically IS the story. You added that a few months went by before he tried to accept the last offer (presumably 650K/year for 5 yrs) ..... "F Jackie!". Jackie was vital to the show
@@tylerk8357 That is the story.
Howard was sick of Jackie, his hack sense of humour aged like milk. He confided in Robin and she wanted him gone. That was the end of Jackie, it was the perfect excuse to get rid of him - "it was managements fault", per Stern. If you've listened to Stern over the years you'll know, he could never bring himself to fire Jackie but management gave him a reason. Listen, do you seriously think Jackie would have gone if Howard went to management and insisted he stayed? Howard's the cash cow, for every Boss. If he'd wanted him he would of stayed but I guess everyone bought that it wasn't Howard's fault.
How do you keep someone, who does not want to be kept?
Man...slagging Eddie Murphy. Not bitter at all.
I wish there was a Jackie Jr.
Jackie puppet?
Wow is Jackie getting old!!
That's what happens in life. Will happen to u as well.
Now think about it in listen to check if you can tell you still has lot of her to pain or regret that's why i goes on and on and on pinaasa same come back and visit the show
Holy shit Jackie only talks about Howard and the show? It’s been 50 years lol
22 years, actually.
The one thing that bothers me about Jackie is that he messed up with negotiations. You don’t take negotiating for contracts personal . You had a great job and u could of had a nice new contract on a great show and he’s talking about not being called back
A few…well many years later he seems to be at peace but that was a major f…up and I think he knew it
Howard Stern show sucks royally these days . Once Artie left the comedy left
Remember how great Jackie told a story ? Yeah .. me either.
Definitely best at quick jokes.
Fired? Jokeman was making 300k+ dollars a year and he wanted more. They said no and he LEFT. He knows he committed, as Howard says, "career suicide".
Even worse, they paid Artie $800 grand instead of paying Jackie
Wow. Seems like you’re gotten almost everybody important that left the show. Anyone beside Artie that you are dying to interview?
Jackie left. What’s this bs about getting fired
Meanwhile ba ba booey is way better off in life than jackie and stuttering john
Gary did persevere I guess? But seems to be a hostage for pay check too.
I’m a long time fine. Pretty sore Robin said fuck ‘em’. She was pretty adamant how happy he was gone.
*Fan
*Sure
Howard chose to show robin respect and axed him.
those rows of binders and notebooks are as useless as ETM's notes on American Idol
I found Arties burner account

He quit. He didn't get fired.
He was given an ultimatum in negotiations and decided not to take it seriously, and they shut the door. Period
Jackieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Jackie years were the best. Thanks for sharing this. He should have gotten more air time.
No doubt!
Jackie was great. It was always about Howard and his ego. Micro manager.
Robin sucks and added nothing to the show.
No class. And with the very little I know, he didn't get fired. Sounds like he threatened to quit multiple times and eventually Howard called his bluff. Have fun punching up scripts. Liked him on the show. Don't miss him at all though.
Jackie is to Stern fans what the Pope is to Catholics.
Goddamn Jackie is still a hell of a handsome dude.
Hello Jackie.
Hey jokeman.
Jackie still complaining and glad he left the show as they got better with Artie and the show got less mean and crazing and more funny and better games.
20 Years Sober ? Doesn’t he smoke pot ? Please correct me , if I’m wrong.
Idk about 20 years. Thought i saw him drinkin on another podcast recently but i could be wrong.
Jackie looks great but somehow every time I pause the video it's an awful still of him lol
Jackie got fired, plain and simple. He thought he was worth more than he was. Stutjo had the same delusion
They could have paid Stutjo a little more though, he worked his behind off for them, never refused an assignment
One of the problem was Robins salary. She never offered anything to the show besides being female and black. But was getting paid millions while everyone else was getting scrap. Artie/Jackie/Gary/shuli/ronnie/sal & richard had to go on the road to make money. Artie once spoke about this. The schedule was a killer. Traveling from LA to Nyc overnight to do a show at 6am was brutal.
And how do you know everyone's salary?
@@rickallen6378 Shuli mentioned it in his podcast. He was getting paid $2K every 2 weeks as his salary for the show. But living in nyc that barely covers anything. I remember when sal started he said he took a major paycut from working the stockmarket to working on the show.
@@rickallen6378 Are you saying that Robin wasn't the highest paid after Howard?
@JaDisGoD In NYC that's chump change which would explain the side gigs. They've done studies on panhandling in major cities and a guy in the right spot would make more shaking a tin can vs Shuli.
@@PJxBuchwild She may have been, how do you know? I would like to hear everyones salary.
Use ya finga
Of course jackie was attracted to rob and used to grab and group for all the time try that now in this day and age you be in jail with a lawsuit
Pretty sure it’s time we all moved on.
I love you jackie but shame on you for calling robin a fat chick and you only flirting with her after all these years ourselves i could still so better and angry
Jackie was ran off. Stern wanted him gone, and what a mistake it was. The show started to decline immediately. It was still unnoticeable for a couple years because of the steam the show was running on, but by 04 at kroq it was already a different and not so funny or entertaining show. Sirius years sucked, right from the start. The show became unlistenable by the time Artie was gone. Stern was the reason Jackie is gone. If he wanted him he would have been paid what he wanted which was more than fair considering he was the main reason the show was successful. Stern got divorced and was on a big "change" kick...and the show never recovered...that was the beginning of the end.
If anyone still tries to defend the stern show now in what awful wreck they put out, has either lost their mind or is a super fan boy. Stern has been trash for 2 decades now.
It is very awful now no doubt
So you wanna see a 70 year old guy still have pin head misfits on and half naked girls playing anal ring toss?
Do you know how cringey that is?
The dude s literally at retirement age and he’s done every damn thing you could think of in radio. He paved the way for what had become modern pod casting.
So what if the dude wants to do interviews and have a classy show.
And no I’m not a super fan boy or lost my mind
I think you’re one of those dudes that peaked in highschool and probably go on about the big game you won.
It’s called personal growth and growing up and moving on.
How about this what do you think stern should be doing since you think the show is shit. You tell me what this guy, that’s done everything in radio for 40 years
Wow bet half those Eddie Murphy stories are lies lol
This a howard stern hater channel?
Stern history channel.
He was greedy.
Hack!
Stern show "comedy" was always ancient slapstick with puppets and MAD gags, practically vaudeville. It's the Spencer Gifts of comedy, all the hilarity of a fake turd in a gift box with Easter grass. I love it when people talk about the "Jackie days" as the golden age, how he "elevated" it lol....no, he just fit right in with all the paleolithic hacky horseshit
Spot on. Yet all these ex staffs with '''talents''' are unable to make a go of it post Howard
Jackie and Artie were fucking hilarious and had great infectious laughs but also had hubris to think that they were irreplaceable, I’m sure both he and Artie kick themselves in the head daily for giving up an easy ass gig like stern
What is it about that seat that drove those two nuts…and to lose a job.
Who knows.
This was the most boring interview you have ever done. And I enjoy your show. It’s not your fault jacki is just not interesting at all. No laughs at all and he is supposedly the joke man. I now know the meaning of watching paint dry. Thank you jacki
I enjoy Jackie but as I have found in life, those over 70 seem to have wandering minds
Hack🤑🤳
31:52 Jackie tells a joke. For me not funny. during his time on Stern, never thought he was funny. Chris Rock, George Carlin, FUNNY.
That’s why he needed Stern to tell his jokes he didn’t have any charisma
getting fired? Dafuq are you smoking?
The place I worked at, a guy went on vacation leave, took extra time without permission, and automatically fired himself
Jackie's bottom teeth are coming out
36:30, Old man joke......not funny.
Lame
This was horrible. I wanted to jump out the window. Jackie is so boring and obviously angry. Very passive aggressive.
What kind of dump is tom living in
Jackie is hoarder of jokes and other garbage he’s produced over the years….Oh yeah, by the way. He quit. He wasn’t fired.
