I love this show. It made me cry to realize that this wasn’t just for drama but it was true the first female captain is one of pilots stuck in Gander. And then it turned out the couple really did get married. And there really was a missing fireman. All of this wasn’t just drama it was real. The artistry was taking this reality and making it able to be born and borne. A tony is inadequate.
Everything about this play is true and then some you can read the book!! I’ve seen the place several times and started in La Jolla, across The street where I live. They have reunions and everything there it’s beyond
Alice has been my favorite Elphaba for a while now, and this is just as good. The way she digs into "the one thing I loved more than anything was USED AS THE BOMB" is just incredible. The way she can go from reminiscing about being a sweet little girl watching planes to a 51-year-old senior captain who's not sad, but flat-out *pissed off* about what's going on is just magical.
I first seen come from away where it all first began; across the street from where I live at the La Jolla Playhouse! I flew to the east to get my health to go and see it in Washington DC, and I saw a few more times after that. So remarkable.😊
I saw her perform this a few days ago and in the room it felt more like she was emphasising how affronted/insulted she was by it. Like, her dare they use the thing she loves for violence?
she emphasises it as in she’s so shocked and angry that a plane aka something she loves so much could be used to cause so much death/destruction and pain ?? at least that’s how i interpret it

Just saw this in London tonight, my second time seeing it . Cried from start to finish. The world is a better place because this show exists. 🥰🥰🥰

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Everyone overdoes the accent. Listen to the real person. She barely has one.
She is absolutely incredible… but the emphasis on BOMB I didn’t like… felt a bit… insensitive? Not the right word but it just didn’t sit right
