If you want to hear the Palestinian side walk down any street in the world and hear a bunch of dumb people yelling free Palestine, and when you ask them they have no reason that justifies murdering civilians on oct 7, many of which aren't even jewish and were visiting Israel. Its an illogical cause, that only kills people and oppresses civilians. Imagine this guy living in Qatar worth billians while his people have been starving for over a decade. Free Palestine from what, there wasn't a jew there from 2006 onwards. Just a bunch of terrorists ripping the people off and stealing 16.3 billion in foreign aid to build tunnels and not better their country.

The main issue is to stop the occupation.
No, Palestinians need an agreement to stop the occupation before returning hostages. Israel will not stop the occupation once they get the hostages back. Israel has always had the upper hand in negotiations and reneged on their agreements, it's time now for Palestine to dictate the terms.

This is the best interview of a Hamas official, that I've seen thus far. What he says makes perfect sense to me. Among other things, he explained that Oct 7th was a reaction to Israel vamping up violence against the Palestinian people in West Bank...etc. He explains that they knew they were going to be killed by Israel anyway, and decided that it was best to die while fighting back in a way that opened a door to let the world know that there is a serious problem with Israel's decades long illegal and violent occupation in Palestine.
He stated that Israel's occupation must end, that Israel's violence against the Palestinian people must end, and there must be independence for Palestine and security and safety for the Palestinian people, in order for there to be peace. This makes perfect sense and is a VERY reasonable request.
In the end of the interview he stated that the future governance of the Palestinian people should be the choice of the Palestinian people and not that of Israel or the USA. To most of us, this should go without even having to be said, but Israel and USA officials obviously need to learn this type of real democracy.
It is clear that what both Hamas and the PLO want is just common human rights and freedom and safety and peace for Palestine and the Palestinian people. And they should have had it all along, without having to fight the evil invading Zionist forces for over 75 years now. There is something horribly wrong in our world, that did not stop Israel's violence against, and displacement of, the Palestinian people in its ongoing illegal occupation/invasion of Palestine, long before this year of 2023. What the Palestinians have been through, for over 75 years now, is utterly inhumane and should not have been happening at all. Where were the minds and hearts in those who could have helped Palestine to break free of the violent and evil Zionist/"Jewish" invasions? Were they free or safe? I think not.

In order to see the full truth we must look at the bigger picture, and into the recent history of Palestine, instead of only at isolated events claimed by Israel. The violence did not start with Hamas on Oct 7th. It started around the 1940s when masses of new Zionist/"Jewish" immigrants invaded Palestine, turned it into Israel and killed, or stole the homes from and displaced, hundreds of thousands of the native Arab Palestinians who had been the vast majority of the population there. Since then, the remaining Arabs have been resisting Israel's invasion - they have been fighting for freedom from Israels violent and inhumane occupation of Palestine. In escalations of fighting BOTH sides have performed violent attacks for over 7 decades now.
Hamas was formed, in the 1980s, in order to fight against the already existing violent Israeli occupation. So, to be fair, we must ask, which side is the invader/occupier? The honest answer is Israel. And which side has inflicted the most terror and done the most killing of common citizens from the start? The honest answer is Israel, by far, even BEFORE this current massacre in Gaza and even after Oct 7th.
Look up Amnesty International's 2022 report on Gaza, and other human rights organizations reports against Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine and inhumane and violent treatment of the Arab Palestinians. Israel, please permanently cease fire and set Palestine free, now.

There was never a palestine. There was a british occupied Palestine, there was an ottoman empire, there was a mamluk empire, there was the cruscaders , there was the byzantium empire etc there was Judea, there was other empires, but never was the region called Palestine and never a nationstate with a government and legislature or defined borders etc named Palestine. The palestinians are a group of people that residing in a land that was never officially palestine, that began with the rise of zionism to self identify as being Palestinians. Wars were fought and won over the land, and Palestinians were relegated to the west bank and gaza, and offered even more land (see UN partition plan and the five other proposals offered ) that they declined each time. 20 percent of Israel proper is Arabs, and Muslims and Christians that live inside isreal peacefully. But instead of accepting reasonable proposals or land sharing they decided to fight for 75 years through suicide bombings, daily rocket attacks and other terror to win a land that they lost fair in square duing war, and which they retain part of til this day. Most of the original people that lost homes during a war that they actually started after they declined the UN partition plan, are no longer alive and you have three generations removed from the original occupants fighting over land. Who expects to live in a house or plot of land that your great great grandparents may have owned. I'm not going back to Russian and trying to claim my great great great grandmothers land plot. I moved on. I didn't murder a bunch of people that are living or visiting Israel to futher my cause. Why did they murder visiting thai nationals and nationals of 25 other countries on Oct 7. What does a baby living on a kibbutz have to do with a grandparent that may have lost land in some far off region such as west bank have to do with this cause. Borderchange. All of Israel _is_ Palestinian territory. That's not to say that all Jews should be removed from Palestine, that means that Palestine should be returned as a single land for all, with the right of return for all the displaced Palestinians. That is all.
Please don't assume these men are in any way reasonable. They want the entire territory and will justify anything to get it.

I’m an Israeli against the occupation. I’m grateful that you interviewed this man. I’m vastly disappointed that on both sides, the conversation consistently lacks any reverence for human life. You did not even ask this man about the horrors of October 7th. It was a brutal attack, a horrific loss of innocent human lives. And now, a brutal attack right back. And this is it: like children, they continue to point the finger. “You did it first, no you, no you…” and it never ends. The ego, the black/white thinking and the complete disregard for human lives because the feeling is always that both sides are the victims and must fight each other. And at the end of the day, you have civilians who truly are victims on both sides. When will it end? When will someone say no more? When will weapons be put down and non violence used as the only means of fighting the occupation? I know that Palestinians DO have no violent means such as BDS, which I greatly support. Let’s keep encouraging that rather than brutal murder of babies and children and more and more cycles of violence that lead us nowhere. Let’s give money to Palestinians who so courageously choose the hardest choice: to stand up to oppression with non violent means.

How can it be that the hamas attack on 7 Oct was about bringing the occupation of Gaza and West Bank to a peaceful end? How were other attempts by Hamas delivered and assummingly denied?
In order to see the full truth we must look at the bigger picture, and into the recent history of Palestine, instead of only at isolated events claimed by Israel. The violence did not start with Hamas on Oct 7th. It started around the 1940s when masses of new Zionist/"Jewish" immigrants invaded Palestine, turned it into Israel and killed, or stole the homes from and displaced, hundreds of thousands of the native Arab Palestinians who had been the vast majority of the population there. Since then, the remaining Arabs have been resisting Israel's invasion - they have been fighting for freedom from Israels violent and inhumane occupation of Palestine. In escalations of fighting BOTH sides have performed violent attacks for over 7 decades now.
Hamas was formed, in the 1980s, in order to fight against the already existing violent Israeli occupation. So, to be fair, we must ask, which side is the invader/occupier? The honest answer is Israel. And which side has inflicted the most terror and done the most killing of common citizens from the start? The honest answer is Israel, by far, even BEFORE this current massacre in Gaza and even after Oct 7th.
Look up Amnesty International's 2022 report on Gaza, and other human rights organizations reports against Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine and inhumane and violent treatment of the Arab Palestinians. Israel, please permanently cease fire and set Palestine free, now.

I did hear some comments in an interview on “Democracy Now” with Amy Goodman, immediately after Oct 7 and before the reaction of Israel s which suggested that they were expecting extreme reactions from Israel with the USA as an ally. It would definitely be interesting to know what specifically Hamas was thinking of in terms of a reaction.
Hamas had already warned the Israelis a year ago they were going to attack. And even the night before, Israel was warned abouy the imminent attack but purposely ignored. Netanyahu decided to use that opportunity for his personal and political benefit. Netanyahu had said earlier that Hamas was an asset he could use in the future, and this was it. He is charged with extreme corruption and can end up in prison any time.
