Very satisfactory watch. I had them growing up, they were also great companions to the skates when learning, like training wheels. Be safe in the cold!

I envy your childhood! That would have been the ultimate way to get around as a kid 👌

Nice work there on grandpas spark,he would have been really happy to se you given that sweet tlc to it! 👌🥳🥰 I know that that spark was the only one he had, and he probably used it a lot so its no wonder it had some damage to it 😅. I have pictures of him using it in somewhere around the 1930s , so im pretty sure its 100+ years. Hope it lasts many years for you to!! 🥳🤗🥰

Great to see something getting fixed up and continuing to be used - still very close to where it was first used. As you say - I'm sure your grandpa would be glad to see it in use.

I love that it has a history 🙏 Makes it feel more special keeping things going when they have a story 😊

Always had a thing for old tools and cool stuff being restored, I chuckle to myself mate thinking I sound like my dad saying “they don’t make thinks like they used too” but it’s true!
Hope you and Marie have a great new year bud 👍🏼

Brilliant to watch Ash. Nice restoration project. Clever bits of kit for getting about on. Hope you're both good, especially with the extra cold weather around at the moment

One of the biggest scares of my life 1st time driving in the dark in Sweden, some old lady sliding along the edge of the road on her Spark with her shopping no lights and snow cloud from a lorry that just went the other way - hopefully Ashes Spark wasn't run over by a lorry that would have been a bad day for all ....

Luckily on this road we get about 5 cars per day 😄 Also we wear torches around our neck just in case

You've got the coolest man cave ever! Everything's so neat and tidy, and organized 😍 Well done with the kickspark! I wanted to ask how do you know all the things these projects need be done, is it intuitive or have you studied some carpentry or something?

    • @ash.pollard
      @ash.pollard  8 месяцев назад +1

The reality of that is having some hardcore ocd when it comes to tools 🤣 and sitting there for hours on end organizing screws. I don't know why Marie likes me... I guess it's just from a lifetime of fixing things and trying to build stuff, pick up lots of tricks along the way haha👍

@@ash.pollard gosh, we then really need to hire you to sort things out in our man cave :D It would take you days! I bet that is exactly why Marie likes you ;) Awesome content, love watching repairs a lot and learning new stuff!

I have been seeing some news coverage of Swedish weather, one quoted minus 43•6 c and cars stuck in the snow, so hope you are all OK. Love the Spark restoration. I tried one in Finland and loved it . Happy New year!

It's been very cold for sure! Tonight is -33 and the other day we had -40 in the village! Happy new year 😊

always knew these in Denmark as Sparkstötting - love your patience in rebuilding one - already saw Marie riding hers for a few trips.
Translation from Swedish: kicksled is the translation of "sparkstötting" into English.

We like the spark name as well because we've noticed when you go out in the dark on the road, sometimes a bit of gravel goes under the blade and small sparks come out the side! Such a cool invention

Hi Ash, hi Marie, hope you are both well and enjoying winter. Great restoration job, but I had the feeling you were going to do a complete re-deign. :) looks like the spark is ready for another 100 years. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work. PS. Happy New Year to you both. Hope it's a good 'un.

Wanted to try and keep as much original as I could on this one, sometimes that's more satisfying for me 😊 Thanks a lot and happy new year!
