  • In this video I show a couple new starter SV miners for RE2 as well as a revision of the Scarab-SMX shown on the last video. Basically I decided to do some R&D with the end goal of building a starter SV miner with guns and decent mining also allowing for a shield upgrade.

    That two drill miner (Scarab) you built looks great, and would be popular - a lot of people use Stan’s SSW Meerkat, which is a two drill miner and comes with a Gatling gun. It carries much less but is cheap and functional.

    This Scarab Combat Miner is a brilliant little starter ship for RE2 Survival, when it's released, assuming gameplay is reasonably similar to RE. I plan to use it personally if it's uploaded by then.

    Both are great. I like the 3 drill best as well. Thanks for taking us through the process. Really fun.

    I think when you are in godmode, you can overfill containers like you have W&V off. That might explain the wierdness. I wouldn't mind seeing a SV drillship that is absolutely bare bones. No internal cockpit, cheap as you could possibly make it, tiny thrusters, lowest level etc. Very first vehicle, like a mining space bike, lol. I have in the past made a 1 drill HV drill bike in RE, just to get away from the damn hand drill, but never SV.
    I like the SCM quite a lot. It is clean and tight, good visibility, Would definitely use that one. Crazy utility for the size.
    If you are having fun working with something, like the miner testing, go with it! You always get the best results from something that tickles you.

    Love the idea of a high gravity miner with close to max capacity on storage. Maybe a gun or two and a turret for those pesky drones at higher levels.

    To not overfill your cargo with stuff, just exit god mode.

    The new smx might lose the ability to back out of a straight line hole if a gat turret is added and I really don't see any space for ammo, using the 9k controller for ammo defeats the purpose of having 9k for mining.
    We are going to have to mine fast and get the hell out of there. 😂
    That triple drill smx is really cool.

    With SV drills not being available until level 10... I feel you should go with a lower-drill count if it's a Non-Warp SV, since you'll be spawning in yet another SV at level 12 once you achieve Warp. Better to go with something smaller thats easier to bring in w/ less resources invested. My own SV lineup is a 1-Drill Non-Warp SV, followed by a 2 Drill-Warp SV w/ weapon and constructor. If you wanted to lose the constructor you could have more drills, but being able to convert ore to ingots to lighten your load as you fly is invaluable if you ask me, the 4 drillers do not drill much faster than 2 drillers. Though I love the view of your windowed cockpit on the 4 driller there, I think you are hamstringing yourself by using alll that space for an internal cockpit, you could fit a Warp expansion slot if you saved yourself the space by using a pop-in cockpit model.

    @JRandall ... you should be aware that ores have a specific wight in Empyrion. Not every ore has the same wight. While the miner might fly fine with the belly full of stone it may strugle with tungsten (afaik the heavyest ore) for example. If you want to test flight propertys you should test it with sathium or even better with tungsten.

      That shouldn't make any difference. 9k of tungsten weighs the same as 9k of stone. The mass will be different. You'll have more stone when full as each one has less mass.

    I'm finding the CPU to be SOOOO restrictive with SVs right now. I hope that is will be better adjusted soon as it's nearly impossible to make a 6 laser drill miner with near 32k ore, warp, shields, and a few turrets for defense. Even trying to build with every possible CPU available I'm not able to build that sv with decent thrust.

    That bug is not just with you. I have tried this in RE and in a local RE that I made changes in. I get around it by starting the game, exiting and then changing the settings when loading it again.

    Is there room for a constructor? so you can process ores while you drill.

    For the settings I tried going into the save game yaml files and it broke the scenario. Had to reinstall. Not sure if it's only sp only or if it affects co op and multiplayer also

      Not yet. I do plan on releasing 1 over the weekend thou but wanted to fine tune it a bit more before then. And thanks again!

      @@jeffrandall2813 great stuff, I never took building seriously in this game but I always took space engineers build more detailed. However watching your build and the way you went into the detail of it made me excited to build in this finally. Now is this the Eden mod or all vanilla?

    the inventory fill issue is because you are in god mode.
