A very festive walk around the forest! No snow yet in my part of Perthshire!! Always good to watch, always right to the end. I hope all of your family have a good Christmas and in true Scottish tradition a very Happy New Year.
Back in 2008, we stopped spending our hard earned money on costly, shiny vacations Instead, we spent our time and monies improving the rundown farm my hubby purchased in the early 90's. In 2020, we retired early & moved to our homestead 🎉
Since I had to move to Germany many years ago for 6 months to be an exchange student (meaning register in the city, register at the college, register for medical insurance, etc.) I experienced a small version of what you are mentioning. It was a lot of work to bring what I would need with me in terms of clothing and getting all of the paperwork set up, and that was even with having some command of the language. But it was so miniscule compared to trying to move out of the country permanently! That is a BIG undertaking for sure! Those people who said it was not big deal have obviously never moved long distance or overseas.
Interesting video. I've been a writer most of my adult life (which includes a lot of years!) and I have often wondered about what people think. That does not come from any introversion or need, per se, but rather just passing thoughts. It's a choice we all freely make every minute of our life. I consider it the ultimate freedom. And I feel like most people walk around on the planet, in the mall (which I admit I haven't been inside a mall in 5 years), at the Post Office, their neighborhood, their employer, etc. trying to conform in some way or another. Some people like to dictate to others what they should be thinking about. Other people could not be less interested in what others think. Here in these comment sections there are people who definitely "think" their opinion or thoughts should be expressed and put out here for the world to know. Our "job" as readers is to decide whether their comments are meaningful to our goals and thoughts. Most of them are pretty much meaningless and don't matter. Much like this one comment I've written here! lol
I agree. Most people express themselves for their own purposes, cathartically as a means of emotional management. That's why it's (accurately) noted that people's criticism of others generally have more to do with themselves than with the person they're intending to criticize. That said, I do like to try to nudge people back into positive directions in the comments, and that's really the only time when trolls irk me - when they waste my time by masquerading as someone who actually is trying to have a conversation when in reality they aren't that at all. You haven't been inside a mall in five years? I'm probably 20 or so years separated from malls. I can't honestly even think of where any are anymore either. So many have gone under.

I'll admit, I left a trolling comment on your last vid, of the 'don't let the door hit you' variety... Actually I think your Uruguay idea an excellent one, provided you've made proper preparation, which no doubt you will.
I think I would have recognized your name when reading it. So I'm sure I saw it for a joke coming from you. That's often the trouble w trolls, it's hard to tell if they're kidding around or not (some of what they say being so absurd) so it's hard to know whether to expend time interacting w them.
Some trolls are kind of funny to deal with but I block people who have no respect for members of my audience. The “know it alls” who think only THEIR way is the correct way to something. I don’t waste my time on them. But if someone posts something funny like “you suck Sarge and your videos annoy me” i will engage them back because it’s funny
Engaging with trolls IS a form or recreation - I agree. Most of them are so inept that it's sort of like shooting slow zombies in a mindless shooter game. So I get that perspective. I try not to do that too much though because realistically it's a rather poor use of time. But I get the entertainment value of it. ;)
It is not all down to the viewers, as a lot of prepper channels (and other yt channels) rely on the clickbait and misleading titles to drag in viewers, so when a video fails to live up to or to be about a totally different topic, people are bound to react, especially if that topic is just an excuse to try and flog tat from their online shop. Have a good Christmas to you and the family
I ignore the trolls when it's clearly a troll. What vexes me a little is when I'm not sure. I hate wasting time on someone that I think MIGHT be genuine, only to find out they're just a troll looking to waste people's time.
I made a comment on your last video because I thought you were coming here to Canada and I was disappointed you weren't. But it makes sense to choose someplace warmer. Many years ago your ex President Obama made a statement. He said, during an emergency don't expect the government to be there to help you. You need to be prepared to help yourself. And that's what got me into more serious prepping. However I am a single retired person so I'm on a much smaller scale than you. After seeing the aftermath of these floods in the USA, Europe and elsewhere I came to realize that most of my Preps are not safe from water damage so I have been putting things in large plastic garbage bags inside of large Plano storage cases Etc. Besides the problems we face here, the other side of this planet is about to explode. And now your president wants to make these huge tariffs between our two countries, Mexico, China and Europe. Even though I live in an apartment I am pretty well prepped for emergencies. However I do not know a single person who will lift a finger to do the same. We had a very large blackout this summer and looking at our neighborhood there was not one single house with a light bulb on which means no one had so much as a flashlight. Except me. I have power storage units that I'm going to put inside some pelican cases that Amazon had on special for 1/3 the price in their warehouse deals.
Pelican case are (or at least were back when I worked in film production) TOP notch in terms of quality. We would routinely trust hundreds of thousands of dollars of gear to be kept safe in those things. So they're a great choice. Yeah water threats are tricky. We all want to be sure to live near enough water to not run out, but also not TOO close. So it's a balancing act. Down in Uruguay where we're looking now, I'm focusing on areas that are high enough to be above imminent issues related to sea level rise and storm activity, and also places that won't likely be swamped during intense storms. That said, I've gotten more excited about hydro power since I started living in a all solar house. So we're looking to see if we can get close enough to water to be able to utilize that resource, without being taken down by it someday. All a balancing act... but a fun one! :) It sounds like you're doing a good job keeping the balance too!
From my understanding, Portuguese is more prevalent than Spanish in South America. They’re similar, but different in many respects. Not sure about Paraguay, but definitely in Brazil, where I have a few friends.
Brazil is Portuguese, but Uruguay is principally Spanish. That might not be the case in the border towns. I know that's true of Chuy in the north east of Uruguay is pretty Portuguese-heavy. But most of Uruguay is Spanish. It's the official language there.
@ sounds like you know a lot more about it than I do. It surprised me when I tried to communicate with Brazilian’s in Spanish and they understood some of what I said and not so much about others. I had no clue that Portuguese was that much different than Spanish 🤷♂️😂
@@LouieLou998 I don't know any Portuguese myself, but I know people who do and they've always told me that it's pretty darned different with minimal similar words etc. I was happy when I found that Uruguay was Spanish speaking because I already had a little Spanish in me from over the years to start with. Learning languages is harder at my age, but it's probably REALLY good brain exercise. So even without the need for the learning, it probably is doing me good just for the brain stretching.
@@PraxisPrepper yessir. I’m gonna take online classes for another language myself. There’s no better way to gain a little respect from the locals when you take the time to learn their language and understand their culture.
@@LouieLou998 I agree, a little effort goes a long way. 1.) Try to learn basic language. 2.) Learn about cultural norms. 3.) Abstain from eating your new neighbors' pets when you arrive. ;)
That's better answered in a video than a comment reply I think. I've fielded this question from a number of people already in the comments, but only lightly. It's a good question and it'll be addressed seriously in the videos to come on this topic. Timing is definitely important.
There are an amazing amount of trolls on RUclips. This area has a monthly electric minimum of about $85. I would love a $15 a month electric bill. But even if I only used $15 a month my bill would still be $100. :( You mentioned a word I hadn't even thought of, immigration. What are the requirements there for a long time Resident Visa? Those are often stricter than the requirements for a Tourist Visa. Work Visas often require a permanent job, but when it ends or a decision is made to stop, some countries require leaving at that point. You probably don't want a Visa that requires a submission every 90 or 180 days requesting approval to extend the stay. Whatever the political climate is this month, as the saying goes, this too may change. It would really be tragic if a request for Visa extension a year or eight down the road was suddenly denied. Each country makes it's own Permanent Resident rules so there is no universal. Hopefully Uruguay isn't too difficult. It never hurts to know a second (or third) language. A quick check of Google and Wiki implies there are many different languages spoken by Residents of Uruguay, but Spanish is the prevalent of course. Keep us informed.
I'll be covering all that stuff in an upcoming video. It's my impression that Uruguay is pretty accessible for permanent residency. I'm having a phone call with a company soon that helps people to navigate the process. After that call, I'll be sharing everything I know on here.
I'd never want to leave forever. More like a case where a wildfire rips through a neighborhood. You leave, if you planned ahead you've left to go to a nice place, and then you return... Or not. With a place like Uruguay, I may end up going on a vacation there someday and never get around to heading back home... Or I will. The key is to have options.
Agree with the sentiment, dont really think I would be classified as a troll, even though I do disagree on occasion. I think it is great that your woodstove and solar are your primary system and the grid is your backup. I envy you that but not in a I wish you did not have it, way. Just it is nice you were able to do it. Wish I did but people are different. I have a woodstove that I hope I never ever have to install. It is a prep, that yes is not benefiting me one bit and I am ok with that. It is my plan b, a hail mary at best. You left out one small detail in your explanation, a wood stove is one hell of a lot of work, it is not and never will be free. I choose to use my heatpump as long as it is possible for me to do so. I think I would croak if I even tried to cut and split a season of firewood. I did not consider that rental aspect of you having a second property. That would certainly make it a more feasible endeavor as long as you have the free resources to make it work. I am assuming you would not take out a mortgage on current place to make it happen, that I would advise against, plan b or not.
You sir... are not a troll. Trolls aren't trolls because they disagree. Trolls are people looking to poke jabs at other or try to rile people up for no real reason other than for their own entertainment. Drama for drama's sake people. That's not you at all. I always 100% value your pushback on my videos AND the time you invest in sharing your perspective.
Those types of preppers will be a problem in post apocalypse world. Those types of Prepper would be like the raiders group that has more guns than food and don't know how agriculture work nor know how to build houses. Those toxic preppers would use guns to run down what you've built and call it "survival" and destroy your crops bc they don't know how to operate and leave it bad and goes off raiding and do this all overagain. The literal meaning of a virus. Every Prepper that has more guns than food aren't prepper in my opinion. But It's true that prepping is not something cheap if you are serious about survival in shtf.
As far as I'm concerned about prepper trolls, they are on the same lever as the armchair warrior. They are lonley desperate people (probably liberals) with nothing to do. Praxis, keep up the great work you are doing; for as long as you keep these videos coming in, I will keep watching. PS: you need a new video camera; it wont show color anymore lmao
I think I get a ton of trolls that seem to think they're conservatives too. So I think people with nothing better to do cuts across all of the sports teams that we call political parties.
Let Trolls talk,.... why call someone an IDIOT when they can open their mouth and do it for you. Keep sharing your knowledge and it will find the Right People.
The only downside to them is that sometimes I'm not sure if someone is trolling or honestly ignorant and in need of guidance. Since my goal w the channel is to help people, I often try to reply to their misconceptions to give them a leg up, and it's a disappointment to realize that I've been wasting effort on a troll. So they do create that irritant. But yeah aside from that, they don't matter at all... maybe to anyone, unfortunately.
Algorithm Comment. Yaaaa.... I could nvr be a townie again... ... Im quite content with my acreage, water, woodstove, indoor and outdoor animals etc... Been slowly building up my solar ability over last few years... I can relate to alot of this vid...
I said "go ahead, I dare you", completely in jest. Going to south America sounds good to say, but probably would be a hardship like no other. Besides, the north pole shift might put you in a desperate place. Rocky Mountain High might be better?
You and I haven't interacted before on here, so I wasn't familiar with you or your writing style so I probably took your comment at face value and not as an ironic joke about how people will write things like that. I got you now. Yeah, a lot to unpack in a totally new place. I don't structure my entire existence around pole shift science, not because I think it's all quackery (though I think a lot out there is) but rather because it's such a wild card I think it's hard to know for sure what the world would look like after a physical shift. So hard to plan in terms of where is good vs not good beyond elevation.
@@PraxisPreppernew north migration data out just a couple of days ago. I think it’s happening and fast. I don’t blame your skepticism, but me, I don’t see the point in taking the chance. Particularly with worldwide evidence showing catastrophic changes along with timelines. Nuclear, drones, exponential government corruption…and all sped up factors make for gloomy future. 72 and prepping like a maniac.
Trollers always win when you take the bait. Trolling - fish by trailing a baited line along behind a boat These "people" are Trollers not Trolls. Ignore the bait.
I sometimes have trouble telling if someone is just dropping comments to try to create fake drama or if they're genuine. That's the only hassle for me is wanting to get back to people w genuine questions, but sometimes accidentally wasting time on someone who was just trolling.
I'm kinda surprised you're letting that "trolling" stuff get under you skin...It's obvious to me you're "Talkng the Talk and Walking the Walking"...and in addition sharing your endeavors while encouraging others, which your under No obligation to do..."Haters Gonna Hate"...Keep it Moving 👍
I'm surprised that this video left you feeling that trolls get under my skin... Unless you and I have a different definition of that term. I noted that trolling doesn't bother me and actually helps the channel get out to more people, and that my goal was to encourage people who wanted their time trolling to aspire to stop wasting it. I'm sure my message will positively encourage very few (if any) but I still think it's worth trying.
That's my biggest challenge right now. I can understand and follow if people talk absurdly slowly, but normal speed speaking is still hard for me. I'm keeping at it every day though. I feel as though at some point I'll get over a "hump" and things will start clicking more in my brain in terms of following people's speaking. Thanks for the tip on the Spanish TV. I've been doing a lot of that right on RUclips. Plenty of Spanish content here.
@PraxisPrepper The thing about telenovelas or series is that you're watching the same characters with a continuing storyline, so even if you don't understand, you understand more and more and you get into it after so many episodes. I would start watching a new series with the mindset that I'm like 3 years old and don't understand what the grownups are taking about. That way I wouldn't get frustrated or irritated trying to understand. I got to the point where I could have simple conversations with Spanish speakers who understood some English. I would speak to them in English and they would speak to me in Spanish. It's been a few years. I lost interest in learning Spanish, so idk if I would've continued to progress by watching series
@@straykitten4998 I've been thinking about trying to find some kid or toddler shows in Spanish to try listening to and watching. I figured the language would be more basic and aimed at teaching language skills.
@@PraxisPrepper I think Ana y los 7 was the first series I watched because it had kids so I figured it be easier to understand it. One of the actors that I liked was also in Planta 25 so I watched that series. The idea is to get used to Spanish being spoken at a normal speed. I think it's more important that the series holds your interest so you want to watch. Just don't pick Planta 25 to watch if you want to find out who was killing everyone because the show was cancelled, so nobody knows. I wish I would've known that before I started watching it.
have to admit I'm not a fan of click bait titles especially when it feels like I lost 20 min... As far as setting up a retirement plan that could function as a prepper goal seems logical...to be honest I think people confuse troll from a sarcastic comment or perhaps I have different def of troll. Yeah to go to a different country, different cultural norms, and different laws is something you should study up on because even in the US we have different cultural norms that could end up with a person in a bar fight.
I'm with you on deceptive titles when I'm looking for info online. I try to keep MY deceptive titles strictly in the "trash internet video" genre. This video for example, anyone who was specifically SEARCHING for videos on people being idiots or a 3 second easy hack to unmask an idiot, is probably someone who's more looking to waste their time than someone seriously and conscientiously researching something. So if my video "wastes" their time because they were intending to waste it in another way, I don't feel too bad about that. As for troll definition, IDK if there's an official one, but my sense is that it's people looking to poke jabs at people or try to rile people up for no real reason other than their own entertainment. Drama for drama's sake people.
Watched the whole video, did you intentionally go monochrome ? As a bilingual Canadian I encourage you to learn Spanish, to myself and 1/3 the world’s population being multilingual is normal, some like myself are lucky to have learned two languages since childhood, it is probably harder to learn a second language as a teen or adult.
I DID decide to do that. Not sure why, just felt like it today. Something about the white landscape maybe was reminding me of Ansel Adams photos... though my shots are NO Ansel Adams! ;) Yeah, it's challenging learning a new language for me. I'm nearly 50, so my brain's not as spongy as it was when it was younger and more adept at language learning. But that in itself is a good reason (even without the prospect of maybe relocating) to learn a new language - brain exercise!
I should be your favorite troll 😂, those comments come from celebrities leaving the US because Trump won 😂, When you're sitting at the beach ⛱️ in Uruguay, you won't miss the US at all, you'll experience true freedom, not the illusion of freedom you live in now, trust me on this.
A guy like you can never be a troll Luis. You're too aware that your time is too valuable to be wasted on trolling. And you know too much too. You trying to troll just turns into you giving awesome solid advice. :)
I'm not sure what "suppressing" means. But if it means (among other things) unsubscribing people from my channel (sometimes I'm told repeatedly) without telling the subscribers who are being unsubscribed. Then yes, I suppose it is. I hear from so many people who say that they thought I'd stopped releasing videos and were so bummed that I left RUclips, only to find out a year or more later that I never stopped and they'd just been unsubbed without their knowledge. One or two cases of that happening, might be an accident, but I hear from people telling me that on a nearly monthly basis - and that's just the ones that realize what RUclips did. I'm not sure what RUclips's game is. You'd think they'd WANT to get more people watching more videos on their platform and unsubbing people from channels they like would go against that profit motive... so I'm not sure what's going on. I do know this all seemed to start happening during covid though.
In the very beginning of the video you implied you were moving because of Trump. I knew you were joking so I joked back about being on a certain list. I've heard several RUclipsrs say that celebrities left the country because of that. Why would a you be at any parties? So of course I was only joking and I didn't mean it to sound mean spirited.
Oh no, I totally knew you were joking around. I think the joking is great. People can take all of this stuff WAY too seriously. So it's great to keep a sense of humor about it. I see that I forgot to give your comment a Heart, so I just fixed that. :)
Thanks 😊 Leaving my comment heartless made me worry that you took it as "a weird disgusting thing to say" because it lacked context if you hadn't heard people saying that about celebrities
@@straykitten4998 Sorry I forgot the heart. Been busy so was probably ripping through comments with too much haste. Here are TWO HEARTS to make up for it. ❤❤
I've been playing with this new feature on RUclips where you can use 3 thumbnails and then see which one gets the most clicks. For this video I had three people. A dude and two women. The dude got 10% more clicks, so I switched the test off and went with the dude. I guess people who want to watch this sort of video are more into wanting to identify idiot guys vs idiot women. 10% is substantial.
There's a Florida here in the US and a Florida in Uruguay that I mention in this video. I'm not sure which you're referring to, but at present, I don't know either well enough to make a video worth watch by anyone. :)
It sounds like you're doing a good job keeping the balance too!
3.) Abstain from eating your new neighbors' pets when you arrive. ;)
Watched it all,..
Greetings from The Netherlands!
Thanks! Greetings back from New England! :)
I'll ask again. Will you wait till the SHTF to move to Uruguay? If so, how do you plan to get there?
If you plan to move well beforehand, when?
That's better answered in a video than a comment reply I think. I've fielded this question from a number of people already in the comments, but only lightly. It's a good question and it'll be addressed seriously in the videos to come on this topic. Timing is definitely important.
Everyone is welcome to move to the Free State of NH & join the movement for NH independence.
I've lived in NH in my life. It's a really nice state broadly speaking.
There are an amazing amount of trolls on RUclips.
This area has a monthly electric minimum of about $85. I would love a $15 a month electric bill. But even if I only used $15 a month my bill would still be $100. :(
You mentioned a word I hadn't even thought of, immigration.
I am suprised you would think about leaving. However, can understand the uncertainity you may feel especially if you have a family.
I 100% agree with you there.
I agree, its really sad that some people have nothing else better to do then others down.
Typically I don’t even have to open my mouth for someone to know I am an idiot. My face says it all for me.
@@BenHuttash I always aim for the same. :)

Yaaaa.... I could nvr be a townie again... ... Im quite content with my acreage, water, woodstove, indoor and outdoor animals etc...
Been slowly building up my solar ability over last few years... I can relate to alot of this vid...
It's addictive for sure. Once one gets a taste of being free to their whims, going back seems like a cage.
Trolling - fish by trailing a baited line along behind a boat
These "people" are Trollers not Trolls.
Like the black and white
Me too, but probably not a permanent thing - just occasional.
Great thoughts
I tried to learn Spanish but i couldn't understand what anyone said. Watching Spanish TV series or telenovelas without captions helps with that.
People waste so much time. Trolls need to get a life.

"Wanna be bullies" maybe? ;)

@@PenntuckytheCrag LOL. I get it now. I guess I was ID10t(ing) a little bit there myself! ;)
Something about the white landscape maybe was reminding me of Ansel Adams photos... though my shots are NO Ansel Adams! ;)
Yeah, it's challenging learning a new language for me.
@PraxisPrepper Once you get closer to the Equator, you'll see how easy food grows, you will see the possibility of becoming fully sustainable.
Troll comment for moral support. Sometimes I wonder, does RUclips suppress this channel?

I remember that video :) I've heard such things as well.
Got rid of the black girl on the thumbnail huh…
I've been playing with this new feature on RUclips where you can use 3 thumbnails and then see which one gets the most clicks. For this video I had three people. A dude and two women. The dude got 10% more clicks, so I switched the test off and went with the dude. I guess people who want to watch this sort of video are more into wanting to identify idiot guys vs idiot women. 10% is substantial.
You should do a prepping comparing the north to Florida. Get a ton of likes and I’ve never seen it. It’s whole different world here
There's a Florida here in the US and a Florida in Uruguay that I mention in this video. I'm not sure which you're referring to, but at present, I don't know either well enough to make a video worth watch by anyone. If that state of ignorance on my part changes someday though, maybe I'll make that video.
