- This is Antonín Dvořák's New World Symphony, put down on paper for choirs to sing by the one and only David Wright. Featuring the quartet Lemon Squeezy and Emanuel Roll on solo parts. From our concert in Adolf Fredrik's church on May 18th.
Last night I listened to the complete Dvorak New World Symphony and cried like a baby through out. Today I found this excerpt and discovered I still had a lot of tears left.
This is the first time I've heard it with voices (I hear it with computer tones when it's being arranged). I think it's one of David's best.
People are too quick to clap. It needed a little more silence when it ended to really appreciate it.
I am Czech, as was Dvořák, so I have known the symphony From the New World and especially the Largo since childhood, my father used to listen to it. And as a member of Dvořák's nation, I must say, if he heard this, he would be proud of you, Mr. Wright.
This is the most amazing men’s chorus I have ever heard! And what a performance!
Adolf Fredriks kyrka is a church in central Stockholm, Sweden. It was built in 1768-1774, which was dedicated to Saint Olof.
Last 15 seconds pushes an already great rendition into the deep-soul realm and the tears come unbidden.
Is there anything more pleasing than listening to a fantastic group of a cappella male voices? Beautiful harmonies that bring emotions of musical joy...
I just read about this in "Which Way is Home?" by Maria Kiely, based on a true story of people escaping the Russian Communists after World War II in Czechoslovakia.
who is singing lead tenor or even countertenor. Fantastic
What an arrangement!
Drowned in tears. Perfection!
I adore Dvorak. This is just so emotional and intense. Choked up.
And the choir does it so well, you can hear every note of the orchestra in their singing
Their continuity and dynamic controls are astounding.
